Gave the ladies a big ol prune and tie down today, time for a feeding
Going to let them fill in for a few more days, then it’s flip time!

those are going to flower awesome man
Here’s hoping!
Hopefully there’s a nice keep in there too!
Thanks @LedZeppelin, hopefully their flowers leave me dazed and confused!
Hard to see in the pic here but our friend was getting a little bit of orange sun burn on top, I raised the light a little and will check back.
Germination goals achieved, a second San Pedro seedling has now fully germinated and sprouted!
The ladies have bounced back after their torture session from the other day.
I’m thinking it’s about flip time.
…No not that kind of flip
Nope, not that kind either…
Alright, settle down. We’re talking about changing light schedules.
Might give a day or two for the LS x AH interior to fill in a bit, but with post flip stretch it’ll probably do that no problem anyhow.
Damn they are movin
Yea they’re ready to fly , and definitely seemed to enjoy their new haircuts!
Update on some of the cacti friends
They are happy and healthy!
The Pereskiopsis were completely flopping over due to under watering so I tied them to some chopsticks as stakes. Now that their water schedule is more frequent they are much happier and no longer getting floppy. For now we’ll keep the stakes in just in case I slip up again.
The Blue Myrtle received a larger pot and some new soil ( 25% Peat, 25% Perlite, 50% 2-5mm Coarse Sand marketed for aquariums), I may adjust and/or add things in the future, but for now it has good drainage plus the cactus seems happy and has had some steady growth since.
Aquarium sand
Mixed cactus soil ( 25% Peat, 25% Perlite, 50% Coarse Sand)
Also, upon re-potting I gave the Myrtle about 2 and a half weeks to get comfy and let roots heal from any damage that may have been caused before watering it. First hit of water since was today!
Thanks for checking in, have a good one!
It is official, timers have been adjusted. We are now on 12/12 with an early bed tonight and a late rise tomorrow.
Let the flowering begin!
sweeeet
It’s now been 15 days since seed germination began. Goals were met and surpassed, still a chance at more seeds popping yet too!
Anyhow, 2 holes have been punctured in the plastic wrap of each container. Time to drop the humidity and slowly harden these little things off.
We still need to keep things moist but they get checked on obsessively so I’m not worried about the substrate drying out. This also gives the remaining un-germinated seeds another chance to pop once they’ve dried out and become wet again.
In a few more days another couple holes will be punctured, then again a few days later and so forth until the wrap is completely removed. Looking forward to the removal so I can finally get some solid macro snaps!
Really enjoying your thread and I’m all caught up and I can’t wait to see how the girls do with restricted hours lol but seriously interested in your catus growing and it’s just amazing how tiny they are but it’s looking GREAT Happy Growing The Doc
Cheers @DrGonzo13, glad to have ya tagging along. I’m really excited to see how their new beauty sleep regiment treats em!
The cacti have definitely been a fun little experience, they’re definitely fascinating little things the more you learn about them too! I get a kick out of how small they are right now as well, which is probably good because they’ll be like that for quite some time yet
Thanks for the kind words!
Hard to snag a shot but here’s an update on the San Pedro, a little bit bigger and just starting to get it’s little split tips coming in on top. Still rocking the seed shell cap too. Truly fashionable.
and here’s a San Pedro freshly coming out of the shell, it’s little confused cactus butt was sticking in the air. It’s taken about a day but it has almost corrected itself and has roots just starting to contact the soil.
Musta been studying cactus yoga while in the shell. We’ll call this “baby cactus pose”, creative I know.
