Friend gave me some clones that were rooted in rockwool, tossed em in some peat/worm castings/perlite and they seemed good for a few days, but now 2 of them are looking pretty sad and I’m not sure why. I just tossed the thermometer in there. Not sure why it’s showing 60% RH, you can see the probe in the same photo which is showing 70-75% RH.
Have any large Ziplocs or a tray and dome? Only one, maybe two, look like they could use it.
Are the rockwool cubes wet? Rockwool in soil dries out faster than the soil
That’s true. I assumed roots were coming out of the rockwool when put into the soil, but maybe not.
oh that’s interesting, hadn’t considered that. I watered the one in the roughest shape a couple hours ago because the cup did feel light, hasn’t bounced back yet.
Good idea, I’ll throw some ziplocs on them
Combining the two should help. Drip a little water on the cube each day.
Need to remove the humidity dome or make shift humidity dome slowly over a week. You can go a little bit longer each day but 4 to 7 days before you can completely keep dome off. Go in hours maybe an hour and the first day 2 to 4 hours the second day if there’s any signs of problems cover them up. Do this until they’re stable between 4 to 7 days. Cheers !!!
Thanks for the advice @PatHealy @Emeraldgreen @BTYGMO
Found and cleaned my humidity dome and re-arranged the mom tent. Hopefully they pull through.
Maybe soil is too hot? What are you giving them?
I transplanted them all to soil mixes that had worm castings, so none of them got nutrients the first time they were watered. Wanted to get a better sense of what they’d need and evaluate from there.
The bigger plants seem like they could probably use low dose nutes already, they’ll get fed next time they need water.
The dogwalker is still looking rough but the other clones look a lot happier.
Also since last night the Grape Gas S1 developed orange pistils. What’s up with that?
Looks like only one is sad right now.
Hairs turn orange, it’s okay
Cool, not used to taking clones that have flower sites forming like that
I’ll leave the sad one in there, hopefully it perks up.
Just monitor moisture levels. It needs to be moist but not to moist
Occurred to me last night I should just pull the rockwool cubes out of the soil and see what happened. Confirmed they weren’t rooted, whoops! I really should have noticed that. dunked the cubes in some water and the GG4 came back to life, but I think the dogwalker is too far gone. Lessons learned.
