Silicone gloves for trimming

Absolutely not lol

A little oil and dish soap afterwards and you’re good to go.

I used to do it all with bare hands until I got better at growing. Now it’s just too damn sticky and gets everywhere. I am now a glove guy. I would prefer no gloves but having my hands constantly “stink” and have black stains aren’t working anymore (i love the smell, others do not). I noticed even my phone was covered in resin. So i use nitrile gloves and then I put them in the freezer, inside out, when done trimming. The next day, flip them back to right side out and slightly inflate, the hash patties pop off in the shape of fingerprints. those happen to fit nicely on top of a bowl and send me to the moon.

I got hold of the seller for the silicone gloves. apparently the silicone gloves are fine to use. there is no coating. it has to do something with the hands being inside the gloves or directly touching the silicone making them feel more moisturize or soft based on the texture it just touched. it makes the hands retain moisture. it should be no different than a silicon pad for dabbing.

I’ve found that trimming w/o gloves has been more beneficial for a couple reasons

I can more easily scrape or “roll” the resin off my fingers and hands, in addition to more easily being able to scrape “scissor hash” of the shears with bare hands. Clean your hands with olive oil then soap & water when you’re done, instead of using iso alcohol on your skin.

If you have a genuine sensitivity toward cannabinoids like an allergy, then any gloves will do. I prefer nitrile unpowdeed.

This is my reward for the hard work of triming. I feel like I’m making charas in the mountains  and
the scissor’s hash is also very much appreciated here! The first opportunity to try the crop happens at the triming time in my house. Really fresh stuff

I usually make a pre trimming when the plant is still in the pot, and finish it when I cut the main branch… most of times with the plant hanged on the height of my arms and finish it with the entire plant… I just separe the buds after 3 days of drying… then I separe the buds, cut any leaf was left over and put on my drying screen to finish for some few days.

The times I leave to trim with the dry plant was terrible… harder to make the cuts because the leafs are dry and curled to the bud and I feel I take more resin out in the process… so I prefer to do the trimming with the fresh plant and holding it by the main branch or hanging it in a hook

no glove has ever been mistreated during a trim at this establishment

Peace!

I had to start using gloves. Nitrile, powder free. Situation: plant is ready to come down, spend all night trimming and collecting finger hash, go to bed and wake up in 2 hours with a skull splitting headache, migraine level.
Trim with gloves no headache at all.

You mean, the contact with the resin gives you headache ? Or the time spent removing the hash contribute for less time sleeping ? I missunderstand I guess :confounded:

I rinse all my nitrile gloves with water for this reason before i use them, and pat dry. Just to get rid of that thin layer of powder they have to keep them from sticking together like clean balloon rubber :+1:

I keep a box of nitrile gloves in the babys room, the kitchen, and the grow room. Life’s too
short and gloves are too cheap to not take care of your hands - when stuff is gross just glove up and get it done.

ya, i get allergies from bud. Vaping too much does it too. I think it’s the terps, but if you ever get hash in your eyes it’s a total blitch.
These guys barebacking the nugs never complain about this…weird.

This has been my technique. Rarely need to touch the bud. With a good pair of trimming scissors, trim while on a branch and snip the bud into a curing jar (stem can’t be too dry to allow some prying and manipulation).

Well shit, if this gonna be that kind of party then I’m sticking my dick in the mashed potatoes!

BTW the remastered Ill Communication sounds amazing dudes. The Beastie Boys are some of my favorite trimming music:

Legalize the weed and I’ll say thank heavens”

Definitely curious to see how well they work at leaving the resin etc. on the plants. If so I’m grabbing some for sure. Awesome! Please keep us informed @splinter7

Finger hassshhh

No something is transdermal and it gives me a massive headache. If I use gloves I’m fine. Can harvest the finger hash later but something hits me and hits me hard.

so, the ones i got were for hand moisturizing.
There is a company called Sili Gloves that uses the same material as the high end dab pads. Also, it seems vinyl is non-stick for thc. those gloves seem good too and are super cheap. There is apparently some trend to move away from nitrile.

I’m going to have to check these out. Are they breathable at all? At least more than nitrile?

We have both nitrile and latex available at our facility. The latex have no corn starch, and stick together more than the nitrile ones do. I like the nitrile for durability, WAY more durable than latex IMHO. I HAVE to do everything with gloves, from trimming and pruning, to scrogging and even putting up support lattice. All work on / near plants must be gloved.

Can’t say I would complain. Before I got my sleeves, my arms would be so sticky I almost couldnt put in a long sleeve shirt. I probably wear like 15 pairs of gloves a day (damn lattice edges tear them, damn zip ties tear them). I like coming home with non-sticky hands and arms  LOL

They should say powdered, or not say it. We use both, and neither is powdered and no need to wash after putting them on. Sometimes you go to pull out 1 glove and get 6, but thats cause with no powder they stick together LOL

I prefer nitrile though ultimately latex feel more dexterous, but I don’t buy any latex gloves so I never have to worry about allergies with anyone, I like either the purple Halyard like @DougDawson posted which are the medical standard, or Black Dragons which are usually the tattooists or sex glove:

DIRT WIZARD’S MAGICAL DEAL ALERT

Recently I picked up a few boxes of these Black Mambas from HTG Supply which is blowing them out for like $7/box along with other heavy duty gloves, I think of these as mechanics gloves, they’re 7-mil thickness and are pretty reusable, I’ve been keeping them around after washing my hands with alcohol and they are just great for long term disposable use, I think these are the new favorite for me, especially since I use the same gloves for first aid and yard work etc besides always having a pair in every bag and coat for blood barrier protection slash vapor barrier warmth when out and about. They’re a little thick for dry trimming but get the job done well, and are great for handling live plants to keep clean daily.
