Looking good man!

Thanks man. Wish one of the Orange strains were still with us but I’m hoping his child will make me proud

Bought new mechanical timers that seem to be working. I’m really gun shy after the problems I had with the last set. I set up a camera and the LED timer is definitely working, just a few minutes off. The CMH one is turning off and on, also a few minutes off but my concern is the light coming on randomly in the dark period like it did once with the last one.

Ghost Rose is starting to frost up nicely!

Chocolate Thai thickening. You can see I still have some burnt tips unfortunately

Added to this grow will be SuperThrive which all the girls got a taste of in the root zone already. The Pennywise is the only one not in flower so it will be the first candidate for a foliar treatment with it. I also finally replaced my PH pen with a better one (looong overdue) so life will get easier (and more accurate). Going to do a slurry test on the CT since I was having ph disparities between water in and runoff.

Anyone remember when I said the new mechanical timers seem to be working in the last post?

I’m going to guess and say something bad happened

Light was out randomly at 3 when I checked, not supposed to go out until 7. Not sure what the hell is going on but it’s either my power or my light/ballast. The LED is working fine on the timer. Weird.

Sounds like you need to go old school and get the old mechanical dial timer . They seldom screw up.

I’ll be the first to admit… I’m paranoid about my timers.

Nowadays they all use a sealed micro-switch for the switching (a step up from the old bendy bits of brass).
As expected, they are using the cheapest parts they can get away with… The consequences of this being those switches might not be up to dealing with repeated in-rush currents from ballasts and drivers.
Agency testing do not take that into consideration when they do the type tests.

My solution to that was to use an industrial rated relay to toggle the heavy loads on & off. The relay draws 6 watts and is controlled by the mechanical timer.
With that configuration I’m using a 50mA load on the mechanical timer to control the drivers for my 650 W light. The relay is rated for 10 Amps and 100,000 cycles.

Rather the ‘belt and suspenders’ approach  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :vulcan_salute:

The ones I have are similar mechanical ones. Push down sections for lights out time. That thing reminds me of old sprinkler timers.

If you could dumb that down for me about 50% I would appreciate it  I understand what you’re saying but what does that look like? Is the relay wired into the timer or is it plugged between the timer and the cable coming in?. Definitely got my interest with this. The ballast being in play would definitely make sense since my LED is running on an old timer that was messing up on the CMH.

Yeah, kind of like someone’s tinfoil collection, bits just keep getting grafted on

The box in the center is the relay, AC in on the bottom blue cord, AC out to the light from the top blue cable. The white cord is the is the control from the timer.

Pretty neat! Something I could probably manage with a detailed enough guide. I may be hitting you up for that guide down the road!

Hurt my back yesterday somehow but thankfully everyone got watered yesterday and I snapped some pics while doing it. Watching Up In Smoke for the first time in well over a decade and not doing a damn thing today.

Wasn’t the thought but it can’t hurt right? I do owe @DougDawson a thank you though because his C&C trivia is what made me realize it’s been far too long since I’ve watched any of the movies.

Thank you and sorry to hear that cause it’s no fun! When you’re young you talk about what bands you have in common but as I age I realize it turns into what aches and pains you have in common

It’s a muscle thankfully so it’s already eased up some but thanks for the well wishes! The CT is looking like I could rip a branch off and beat an intruder with it these days!

Little quick update. Not supposed to be doing anything today but the Pennywise was looking like it needed some legroom already so I transplanted it.

In my head those pots are the same size and every single time I pull them out to use them I have the realization that they’re not (and that I’ve been here before). So I gave the smaller one the bigger pot so maybe they’ve even out. Not sure what I’m going to do about training. I would let them go and just top to keep the height down but I have these new LST clips and they’re yelling at me to try them…
