Slick1's kick in the ass grow

There’s a small part of me that thinks if you go to the hospital and tell them you willingly did something like this that they don’t treat you. Instead they lead you to a back room and you’re presented with a cake and little celebration to thank you for removing yourself from society and the gene pool. Not sarcastically done either, a legit and true little celebration of your willingness to better the world through the removal of your snow globe juice drinking ass, even though it wasn’t their intention to die. Strike that, exactly because their intention wasn’t to die and they thought it would be ok.

This may be harsher than necessary because I did not sleep well

Eugenics is always a great idea… as long as it’s you deciding someone else should be removed from the gene pool, rather than vice versa. Then it starts getting a little bit less fun. :stuck_out_tongue:

The cake is a lie.

Yeah, that’s how mine works every time. The exhaust fan will kick on twice as often for about one day after watering then not so much.

Yeah but in this case people are deciding for themselves. Eat a Tidepod or drink a snowglobe -thanks for sparing us your future endeavors!

I have no frame of reference here…

Well since I’m posting in here anyway I might as well relay the sad news that the Pennywise is done. I flipped the lights back to 18/6 last night and watered/fed in preparation for the reveg but it’s too late. I went to pull some of the dead leaves so I didn’t get a mold repeat and it dawned on me literally every single fan leaf was shot. I started the removal and figured I’d just give it a chance anyway but the second I started handling it it was clear that the thing was completely dehydrated. Whatever the hell happened the other night was the death knell for her I guess.

I have 2 more beans and I will run them asap. Out of the 5 original beans 3 have been female so far so hopefully at least one more is. I approached the last run with way too much confidence it turns out so this will be the antithesis of that. Clones and precautions will be taken!

Haha thank you for that video. I’m pretty sure I have aperture science hoodie around somewhere.

Tough to rely on reveg and have it fail. It’s easier to kill clones you don’t need but hard to grow a plant that’s on deaths door most times.

@ReikoX, I’m going for a 2 for 2 on this thread:

So I’m rethinking my approach here (again). There is nothing in this tent currently and since the light is off and only my auto tent is running the temperature stays perfect in there (as opposed to warmer than I’d like with both lights going at the same time). It’s worse with the heat on now so it’s a consideration. My auto run at this point is finally exactly what I was after- I open the door once in awhile and put water where it needs to be whether that’s a plant or the humidifier, and nothing else (I don’t even close the tent).

So the Pennywise seedrun is still a priority for me but I’m rethinking my approach. Two of my autos are about to finish leaving 2 to go. When the 2 that are close get chopped my last two Pennywise beans will take their place in this tent rather than under the other light so I can keep the temp down and continue this lazy grow I have going.

You should close the door on your tent. If not you are losing a lot of light that is not being reflected to the plants. Just saying.

Can you vent out your grow room into another room of your place?

I’ve never closed it when the light is on (except when I had different light schedules going between the two. The temp thing would become an issue again if I zipped it up.

I wish. It’s a front room with a window in the front of the house only so that’s a no go and I rent so I can’t cut a hole in the floor and route it into the crawlspace like I want. Otherwise the only way to vent it would be out the doorway of the room which means I might as well just open the door to the room and skip the fan part (which I do when 2 lights are on). I rarely run my filter/fan anyway. It exists solely for if I know I have company coming or the smell gets loud enough that you can smell it walking up the front walk. The fan is just sitting on top of the filter and exhausts up in to the room, it actually makes the room even warmer

Definitely not a bad thing, a lazy grow… work smarter, not harder. You can use the extra time you’re not spending on the plants to figure out how to get it up and running again without so much work, if that’s possible while renting. If your plants can’t go a day or two without you, that starts to get very cumbersome before too long.

I have the same problem. If the temps are getting too high, even with the exhaust fan, I sometimes unzip the top of the door, kinda like opening just a crack. And leave the bottom zipped up. Heat rises. So excess heat should be easier to dispel and you still retain your reflected light down where the plants are. Just a thought.

False door made of rigid insulation? You fit it to your door frame, then cut a section off that remains IN the top of the frame that will have a hole punched in it for the ducting; the lower section you then add hinges and it becomes your door.

I mean the worst they demand of me was-

Open the tents around 7 AM - Not the end of the world but compared to not even having to look in there until (or if) I feel like it is pretty great.

Keep the door open as much as possible to disperse heat - not really an issue if I’m home for the day and no one random knocks at my door. I have a cat who wants in there so badly it’s insane though so not an option when I’m out. And it leads me to the other demand…

Being around by 7 PM to close up the tents for the night (when there were different light schedules). Again no biggie if I’m home. Needlessly stressful to have to make sure I’m home at 7PM everynight.

Compared to now where I open the door and say hi once in awhile or water this is paradise!

I’ll give it a shot with just the one light going and see if the temp plays nice. Maybe without the other heat source from the outside it will make the difference.

Why don’t you get a $5 mechanical timer and do away with stress of having to be around to turn lights off and on.? That’s what I use. They take all the B’s out of light schedules.

Now fill the bottom of your pots with something to wick water up to the soil, put them in a reservoir, and join me on the dark side where I can leave for a week without worrying about it.

If the room was a little bigger and the door didn’t open right into the closet doorway it would be possible. I have thought about rigging something up to it but I think it would be so annoying the first time I had to get in the closet I’d regret it. The rigid insulation would be a good option though! I was thinking about trying to find another door one craigslist cheap and making it out of that at one point.

I have timers but they won’t close the tents for me when one is on 18/6 and the other is on 12/12!

I have considered it. I do something similar thought where I don’t trim the roots that come through the bottom of the airpot and let them drink the runoff though lol
