Sour strawberry outdoor grow

That’s great to see! Congrats! I’ve yet to check on mine tonight but will soon. It was encouraging to see 3/3 with tails after cracking the seeds. If more have popped since cracking the other two I’ll go ahead and do the other 5 as well. I’m really glad that @Mithridate pointed out that this was a ‘thing’ w/BOG gear. Thanks bro! Wonder how many seeds I’d have gone through over the years without that little insight! :sob:

That’s a neat little tool you have there :+1:

Yeah, the hard shells come from sour bubble so most sb crosses will have them. Cracking or sanding the ridges does help. Over the next generations, i want to see if I can lessen this… depending on how many seeds you start cracking seeds can become a chore pretty quickly haha.

When I started growing I had bought big batch of older/tough to germinate seeds, all rare and out of production strains and none came up. I sometimes wonder what could have been if I had known what I know now. Oh well, let’s not ponder too hard. The future is bright :slightly_smiling_face:

Yep, the micrometer works great…in theory! :joy: Trying to hold the seed on-edge to squeeze the pressure points is another thing entirely! :joy: In the end I found myself going back to using the flat surface of tweezers out of frustration! The fine-tuning of the controlled pressure increase is great, but doesn’t help if it’s not hitting on the seed coat where it needs to be! I used to keep a hard plastic cigar tube with a rolled up sheet of sandpaper in it for hard cases…might try it out on the other Strawberry batches when it’s time.

Little tips like that, on BOG seeds, are priceless gems that a number of great growers drop here on OG on a regular basis. Thanks to you and all who do such a great job of making this the best community!

Well, progress! The five that I managed to crack have made it, though one is struggling a bit. Feel bad knowing more could have likely made it. Won’t make that mistake again…hopefully!

Here’s the little ones (and a FrankenBubble) surrounding the only auto (Black Cream) I didn’t transplant, still in a 4" pot…man, I could have grown this in the solo cup challenge.

Yeah that’s what Heliosphere uses for his art. You have to give a detailed description of what you want to see and the AI spits out some images based on that. Very interesting

Progress on the five Sour Strawberries!

Even the runt is starting to kick in!
I should point out that the white stains on the leaves are from a milkbath mist , not PM! :joy:

Tight nodes, look healthy, good job! I will say this is the first time I’ve heard about a ‘milkbath’ mist.

Hey @Natea ! Yeah, nice improvement from the early sprouts. 2 of the 5 have deep purple petoiles, all 5 are in the exact same soil mix, so I don’t think it’s nutrient-based problem? I ‘could’ tell you a story about how the milk went sour and how it’ll influence the Sour in the Strawberry  but the reality is the milkbath was just a good preventative use of some milk that I was about to toss from the refrigerator. Saw some potential Powdery Mildew on another plant and just wanted to be sure these were safe. I have some hypoclorious acid that I misted them with and think that’ll do the trick…but the milk was just gonna get dumped anyway! :joy:

Good morning everyone!! Since I joined OG, I’ve always had to come to terms with the fact I’d be getting my hands on beans a while after most here!! Nevertheless, they do show up! Sooner or later, and there were rare occasions they never got to me, they arrive!! And that delayed expectation always gives me a great feeling!!
Once again, this awesome OGer, @Mithridate, has sent me these little grenades of greens!!! They weren’t the first, and I know won’t be the last ones  :flushed: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:  :ghost: 'cause Mith keeps spilling the beans! And we all love and appreciate it!! Top notch OGenerosity!!

Thanks a lot!! You’re a heck of a great person!! :hugs:
