Spice and "synthetic THC" alternatives

I was pretty shocked today seeing reportage about Spice drug. Maybe some of you can remember when it came to the market. Here in Europe it was presented back in maybe 2007 as alternative to marijuana with similar effects and one big advantage - being legal (and for very same price as marijuana). It was advertised as containing purely cannabis-like herbs, including leonotis leonurus and others. It was sold to cannabis fans on some trade fairs also and I remember we’ve bought some sample in Cultiva (Wien, Austria) and smoked some on way back (we didn’t want to smuggle any real cannabis across borders when traveling).

It looked very colorful and like some mix of crushed herbs. It had distinct smell (I can’t say I liked it - it was too acrid and chemical). So we rolled a fat joint from whole “Diamond” pack for three. I really hated the taste and haven’t even noticed any significant effects on mind. We were all regular cannabis smokers and none of us were sure that we felt something… Well, there is nothing so tasty as Sweet Tooth#3 for me and that is hard to beat… So Spice was nothing I’d write letters home about…

I’ve forget about this substitute to marijuana till today… Local TV ran reportage about Spice drug users becoming zombies in the streets… Many heroin users switched to Spice and it reportedly has worse withdrawal effect than heroin.

I said to myself is it really that Spice that we have tried back then? Really hard users of injectable drugs can switch to smoking joints of Spice? At first when I heard about new terrifying drug I was imagining something like Krokodil (injectable desomorphine), but smoking Spice?

It is now clear that Spice is not containing just herbs but also sprayed chemicals. One cannot just believe the description on package. Just stick with cannabis, it has been tested for thousand years… Using marijuana is much much safer…

There’s a sucker born every minute and Blackpool seems to have more than most or there’s a severe shortage of pot in Blackpool.

Anyone desperate enough to get high by smoking that crap probably needs more help than you can find in a pill or a joint.

Its an epidemic here, the majority of EMT calls here are spice related. It hits the homeless, its no joke, I see EMT at the bus station all the time, THOUSANDS of calls for spice od, in this small city.

The THC analogs are dangerous and untested on humans, I tried spice a few years ago, its really bad stuff, Its like a dab gone bad. Dont mess with it, I think its more dangerous than oxy, or coke. Who knows what the current formulation is?

Spice and other synthetic marijuana can pose serious health risks. Please be careful if you insist on smoking these substances.

Yes, I think you are right… These mags were full of adverts for these “legal highs”. God bless for legalized cannabis!

This junk has NOTHING in common with cannabis. If you smoke “spice” you have problems.

I had a pot dealer who was smoking this crap he became even more unreliable than pot dealers are known to be , he became agitated quickly, but I remember the phoney pot you could buy in "head shop in the 1970’s. Only made you cough a lung up and still didn’t get high I think it is still sold in the back of H-T magazine yes Virginia phoney pot is always bad or worse

In Florida prison system that is all people smoke (excluding myself) because the stuff doesn’t show up on drugs test. People call it"that gook" :joy: if it’s good. People “gook” out on the regular… I’ve got stories for the resty of my life due to the shit I’ve seen people do on that stuff! I highly advise to stay away… No bueno

Apparently the chemists in China just tweak the ingredients a smidge every time one formula or another becomes illegal. So there’s never any long-term testing.

these are designer drugs! have nothing to do with cannabis. Gross!

They smuggle them just like everything else. Work details bring it in most of the time around here. If there is a market for it, it gets in.

Im gonna roll one.

I was working with a " dealer" who insisted that spice was Sooo good for being legal. And he broke out a sample passed it around it was vile tasting and reminded me of the
“Legal smoke” they sold in head shops and the back of H-T magazine same headache and after taste.
