I run them the whole cycle plus 15 minutes.
I’m seeing some new stuff at rapid that looks interesting.
Samsung lm301b 100 watt pucks for fidy bux. That seems reasonable seeing how they come with the growmau5/chilled logic name and all. I’d like to give those exotic boards a spin too but can’t justify the cost. I see they’re doing similar over at hlg but at a better price with no silly logos to pay for. Emerson boards, you name it they make it.
Not familiar with the exotic boards. 100w seems like a lot for an initiator but that price is solid. Is it equivalent 100w or draw? What’s the spacing you do on them?
Pretty happy with the Solstix X2 i got recently. The spread seems better than the HLG boards. I’ll be able to figure out soon enough in a couple cycles. Didn’t cut enough clones for this next cycle. This was more of a gather a few of each plant and see which ones do well in flower and keep those. Will take enough clones off the keepers to run in flower all the same.
Oh that wasn’t an initiator , that was a puck with 216 lm561 and 4 deep reds. the initiator are only like 7 watts if I remember right, it came to like 7 bux a watt.
yes I’ve been meaning to ask you about those strips, what kind of wattage are you running per sq ft?
And I notice some reds and blues, those exotic boards rapid is slinging are supposed to make up parts of the spectrum that whites don’t include.
The most common way I’ve seen people using them is to turn on the 730nm lights 5 minutes before the other lights out, and turn them off 15 minutes after lights out. So in total they only run about 20 minutes per day, unless you also run them at lights on (which apparently also does something).
The 700w solstrip build is meant for a 4x4 and the two 260w kits I got from HLG are also for a 4x4. Right now I got them over a 6x4 that’s more like a 7x5
After this grow I’m adding two more sites to my 6 site flower rdwc so I can have an 8x4. Roller shades are going to get installed so I can close off the light a bit and roll them up to work on the plants. Res is also going outside so I only have to go into the room to train and res changes.
Sprayed my plants yesterday. Saw an adult flying around just now so set out some more sticky traps. Surprisingly it only took 1 hour to spray them all down as thoroughly as possible so I will spray them again in a few days. The sticky traps have claimed 10 victims so far. Just putting that here so I don’t forget.
Choosing to let the chocolate chunks fade away from my line up. I neglected them and they just look like garbage and I have too much in veg as it is and they are finicky pain in the ass and lack vigor.
So far critical hog #2 and 4 are packing on the most weight and look to be the keepers out of the run.
The multi site dwc veg are finally eating. Dropped from 0.9EC to 0.7EC over the past few days. Set them at 1.1EC.
The autos won’t stop growing vertically (40" as if today) and they look like nute burn but feed went from 1.0EC to 0.8EC. thinking perhaps a K def. Definitely should have train them.
Hard to believe 3 weeks ago today these autos were 11" and just starting to show preflowers.
Now they are 42"
About 1.5" a day lol. They are about 2 weeks into flowering and appear to still be growing vertically. Next time I run this I’ll screen it.
Haven’t seen an adult thrip and all the sticky traps still have the same amount stuck to them so that’s good. Debating spraying them again for good measure.
Here are the autos I was walking about. Definitely could have used some scrog
Here are the clones. Going to add a couple smaller holes to my 6 site 12gal tote RDWC so I can run 12 plants on that setup and block off the big opening with some black/white poly when it’s not being used as a single site and then transfer these over. They need some room to grow as you can see they are getting a bit crowded.
The two chocolate chunks I’m veg. I changed my mind on culling them and figure I’d send em into flower and see how they do. Just need to find some room in there. It will be a pain in the ass but my only option is my walking path to the water hose. Put a couple 16x8 cinderblocks as legs and run a 12" wide board over them to act as a makeshift table to set them about even with what’s already in flower and lower as they grow into the lights.
I wanted to make sure I had the thrips sorted before I added more plants. They will get a nice manicure, a scrog screen and a spray of spinosad before they go into flower.
Here’s what’s in flower. Around 35 days since flip. I added a security camera to keep an eye on my grow while I’m away.
They are all looking very good!
I just noticed you are using your scrog screens very differently than how I do it. I set the screen early in veg, then train the stems to grow along under the screen rather than up through it. As each node throws off a new vertical stem, I force it to grow along under the screen as well. I do one or two FIM’s early on, but not after that. Once the screen is full enough, I let them all grow vertically.
This is how it ended up last time right before harvest. This is three plants in a 28"x38" screen. Most colas are 6" to 8" tall above the screen with a few longer ones up to maybe 12" along the back wall.
Not trying to say one way is better or worse, but I find it very interesting how the same tools can be used in such different ways to achieve the same goals. You have far more space than I do - vertical and horizontal - so you have more options in how to do it. I just dont have the space to do scrog the way you are doing it.
Love the progress your getting. They all look great!
That is how it should be done and how I intended it. But I put my screens on too late and ran out of screen cause they stretched too much. Didn’t train for a week and they grew too much vertically that forcing them under would break the stems.
Im not too concerned with gpw this grow as I didn’t have that 700w solstrip until week 3 and this scrog got all fucked up. I don’t see myself getting 1gpw if I use the 700w and 500w, but it’s also unfair to use those wattages since they weren’t around the whole grow.
Now that I grew this strain I’ll know how much it stretches and can better train.
Your scrog looks great

A lower bud on the #4 plant of Critical Hog. One of the lower buds. Much smaller than last grows buds. Though I like the less foxtailed look.
Day 36 from flip. Doesn’t look to be a heavy yielder. Quite the let down grow from the last. Still looks and smells dank though. Going to change the res when I come back in a few days to the 2.7g/gal jacks, 1.2g/gal CaNO3 and 0.25g/gal K2SO4
I did take 5 clones from the #4 so will look forward to seeing how I can get them to look next round. Already looking good. About as tall as the chocolate chunks I left in veg, lol.
The autos aren’t looking good. Doing some weird things I’ve never seen in plants. Like this mottled chlorosis around the main vein on the center finger of the leaf.
So the chocolate chunk is in its own res and I keep forgetting this and neglecting to pH it. Surprisingly it doesn’t look half bad. Considering it’s been pHed twice, maybe three times in the past month. And it was at the end with a lone 260w 4k the first 3 weeks of flower and was considerably lower until I moved it up and into it’s own res. Still is a good 6" shorter
Nom Nom Nom is really all i have to say haha
Killing it again buddy. That makes one of us . I can’t seem to get my shit back together.
Your plants looked good the last ones you posted. Sometimes I’m too hard on my plants, maybe you are too?
I dunno, they still look ok just bigger but I’m seeing these little yellow spots in the flowers which resembles the color of yellow ass pollen but maybe I’m just being paranoid. Poor eyesight doesn’t help so I took a few pictures and realized my photography is even poorer than my eyesight so…
Guess we’ll see, I’ll bust out the real camera and see if I can get a better picture and post over you know where.
Could be worse my friend. Brings you back to your teens when you’d buy an ounce and half would be seeds and stems. These youngsters nowadays don’t know brick weed lol. Though I’m sure some seeded spec ops is better than that shit.
I want to buy more dark star kush seeds. My jars are smelling awesome 3 months in. Try and find that good pheno and scrog the hell out of it so I don’t end up with liter sized colas prone to bud rot.
Only thing stopping me from buying is the ton of seeds I already have. I threw some Archive grimace og in the garbage. Wouldn’t germ after a couple weeks. Was a bummer. I need to find a better way of storing seeds perhaps? They are only 3 years old.
Keywords buy and more, why on earth would you need to buy more?
I told myself I’d buy the 303 spec ops ONE time even though they were going for like 25 bux a pop for regs .
I missed the sales but mr 303 gifted me like 30 of them. I think I’m going to try to bring that number up.
So I was down in my veg area tending to the plants as I’ve neglected them since Sunday before I left.
The clones have doubled in size since then, but something else I noticed was some deformed leaves.
Can lack of light(these clones we’re between two lights that were pretty high up) cause deformed leaves? Some reverted back to 3 finger leaves, one finger looks to be growing off another finger, axial growth leaves we’re really thin in some places. Really bizarre.
I know the lack of light caused such an extreme stretch.
Anyways I ended up adding another light over them so they stop stretching and perhaps their leaves normalize. Only time I’ve seen such weird leaves we’re in revegging.
In my research I did learn ruderalis (autos) produce only 3-5 finger leaves. I kept thinking my autos weren’t doing well cause of the small amount of fingers, but apparently that’s all they produce.
I read somewhere the healthier the plant the more fingers it puts off.
If that’s true my clones must have taken a turn for the worst. Cause they started with 9 fingers and down to 5 now. Some 3. I know they need a new home and res change. The feed dropped from 1.3EC to 0.9EC since last week. They were sitting at 1.3EC for a week, but they really kicked into overdrive. Already ready for flower at 5 weeks since cut.
