thank you @nefrella
i’m going to have to defer credit on this last harvest to the breeder and breeder alone. he made me look like i know what i’m doing. the genetics are relentless undead. shoreline rocks!
i do appreciate you stoppin’ by with compliments and encouragement. thank you.
rockster is actually one of our boarding dogs. when his folks go away for trips they leave him with us. he is a really good boy. sweet/sensitive/playful. he likes being photographed as well. evidently his owners have a social media page for him. lol.
FOURTH TO FINISH
goes to: Seedsman Critical Purple Kush!
this plant is one roided-out beast. if you would still consider this a “purple kush”. chunkiest, fattest flowers in the entire garden. closest to it are bubba kush and purple bubba kush… but this one beats those by wide margin as well.
i believe if i had stopped topping in early july this plant would have turned out differently as it didn’t stretch much… but this is the result.
i’m still ok with this. i’ll take one for the team.
photobombs: milo (hidden by bud) moncho (middle) and jack (far)
this photo does not do this plant any justice. this monstrosity of a “branchud” (branch+bud = branchud) dwarfs the can. in circumference as well. it’s as wide as 2 cans and tall as 3 stacked. sadly it will lose a lot of that drying out… but hey… i can still marvel.
a MIGHTY plant to grow. not sure if part of the phenotype, but it always had lighter colored leaves than the rest of the garden. i played pretty hard with this one’s top dress and additional liquid fert feedings. it NEVER made the leaves any darker. shrugs
excited to try this one out when the dry/trim/cure is complete… lets hope it lives up to all this hype/show. certainly frosty enough.
FIFTH TO FINISH
goes to: Barney’s Farm Bubba Kush!
took y’alls advice and waited 10 weeks. this one has some nice chunky colas. not as thick as the CPK, but certainly rivaling others in the garden. pleased with the outcome. was a good plants to grow. easygoing. no problems or complaints. i have never had problem with anything barney’s farm.
what a great plant. easy to grow. it didn’t have a bunch of king kong buds, but it produced a LOT of good sized colas. very pleased with it’s structure and yield. smells really nice. very gassy. should be an easy trim… a welcome change from the BBK and PK nightmares. excited to sample this one when it’s dried and cured.
everything that’s been chopped is either still drying or curing. i try hard to resist the temptation of “testing” before they are done. smoking early doesn’t present the good flavors. gotta be patient despite me sucking at being patient.
i don’t ever see it becoming legal here. the politicians here are content with their surplus. they don’t feel they need to add more, especially with that.
they are watching the legal states to their north (CO, OK) and seeing what it brings… then look outside the capital buildings at all the screeching whacko protesters daily and say “F^CK THAT”
if that ever DOES happen, i do agree with you that Texas could do amazing things with all forms of cannabis. and having the Texas universities (A&M would rock that sh^t) get their hands on it for medical studies? game over. cali-who?
TBH in DFW there are CDB and vape places on every street corner now. they allow the synthetic delta whatever sh^t to be sold in the stores and the CBD gummies and oils and salves are ‘legal’. they have relaxed their stance on it somewhat… in dallas county, you can have up to an ounce and get a slap on the wrist. anything more is jail. surrounding counties are slow to follow. some refuse. i live in a refuse county. (awesome!).
got drones and choppers and planes overhead all day every day. it’s f^cking nerve wracking.
whatever. gotta do what i gotta do. it obviously helps abuela so i’m not stopping anytime soon.
get some georgia!
~flashes illegal state gang signs~
I can’t grow right now. A friend of mine in the next county over does, though. He has connections with the local police, and can grow in peace. I know I’m hoping or entirely too much, but it will be legal or at least decrim here eventually. I’m looking forward to that, since we have a 7-month growing season (that can be extended with some ingenuity).
I got a hold of some of what I believe are Northern Lights auto I got from bag seed, and my buddy did a seed run. (With my instruction), my buddy popped 8 of those. 4 sprouted, and I got two males and two females. One of the males got 7 feet tall with fan leaves a foot long. I still have over 1000 of those, and will pop them as soon as I think I can get away with it.
7th to Finish
goes to: 2020 Mendocino - The Spice!
i didn’t have big expectations of this plant. it was started late. lagged in veg (in it’s defense, our summer was 3 months of over 100F daily with zero rain) and seemed to take it’s sweet time doing anything with flower. it finished. no king kong buds to do the can-parison. but still respectable yield.
smells good, got some unexpected purple colorations (when we finally got below 90F nights) and was quite sticky during the wash/rinse after chopping. excited to try it out when it’s done with dry/cure.
as always - windy day, sh^tty photos / photobombs by obligatory dog hairs
8th to Finish
goes to: Barney’s Farm - Strawberry Lemonade
another strain i was ambivalent about. it’s a top 15 core list strain, so gotta get it on, and did. i didn’t really pay much attention to it other than making sure it was healthy. but that changed when the weather FINALLY got cooler and this thing put on a color show. reds, yellows, oranges, purples. very cool. i’m sure my photos will do it no justice… but it was quite pretty. never seen a ganj flower throw that many colors before. very cool. smells good too. cleaned up nice and produced a good amount of chunky buds. only two colas were possibly worthy of a can-parison, but i did not get to. workmen showed up and had to move everything quickly.
as always - windy day, sh^tty photos / photobombs by obligatory dog hairs
9th to Finish
goes to: Blimburn - Purple Bubba Kush
every branch ends in kong kong colas. the rain pretty much snapped the branches. flowers just too heavy. wanted it to go another week, but it’s just going to keep raining. this one was also a likely candidate for bud rot so decided to chop. lots of scent on chop and wash. looking forward to testing.
as always - windy day, sh^tty photos and photobombs by obligatory dog hairs
10th to Finish
goes to: Garden of Green - Candyland
consistently one of the top plants in the garden this year. a healthy and vigorous grow. smells amazing. excellent production with lots of massive colas. very excited for this one. was expecting a bit of purple coloration, but the nights haven’t been all that cool. this was another one the recent rains beat down. colas too heavy. had to chop it.
as always - windy day, sh^tty photos and photobombs by obligatory dog hairs
11th to Finish - The Last In Line
goes to: Blimburn - Silver Surfer Haze
queue up the Dio tune last in line. the outdoor season has finally come to a close. super silver haze knockoff tooks its sweet time. i think it could have gone another week, possibly 2. we have had cold weather here (40s at night) but we’re right back up to 80s today. the worst part is the rain and the subsequent bod rot. after long hot dry summers with the spores blowing around, it becomes rainy season. we had 5 days back to back last week of rain. this is concerning because rot is inevitable here. and yes… this plant that survived the thrips, spidermites and caterpillar completely unscathed, got hit with the rot. despite shaking off the water after each storm and moving it about to catch the wind and dry out, the rot claims all. it hit the flowerbeds and remaining vegetable garden plants as well…
there was only one section on SSH i had to cut out - very minor. the rest is just damage to fans. this was enough for me to just say f^ck it and harvest as i know more rain is coming and this little damage now will turn total later. time to chop and wash. not optimal, but at this point necessary.
SSH HARVEST SHOTS
this plant was healthy the entire grow. always lush and green. despite being ‘blimburn’ i was impressed with the vigor, growth and pest resistance of this plant. hopefully the smoke is also as remarkable - and better yet, something that works for abuela. my aversion to growing sativas have kept a lot of those out of her hands for testing. i had to do better this year, hopefully one of these sativa hybrids works.
this one didn’t have a multitude of can-parison colas, but each branch ended in respectable, dense and thick colas. smell was kind of underwhelming on harvest and wash. hopefully comes back during the cure.
as always, windy day, sh^tty photos and photobombs by the obligatory dog hairs.
so ends the outdoor season of 2023 / plans for next season outdoors mostly solidified (new bean arrivals from helpful OG’ers have changed up some lineup hopefuls)
