Outdoor 2024 - Update

an unexpected new addition outside… my 3yr old AC GDP clone mom got infested with spidermites. it’s been sprayed with pressure outside with the hose after getting sprayed with cirtic acid. will hit it with spinosad tomorrow night. everything outside is going to get hit. the spidermites and other things are doing various damages around the yard and veggie garden. only a matter of time til they hit the ganj.
a stitch in time…

friggin spidermites…

everything else is doing ok. seems the insect frass added to the soil this year does indeed do a bit of help in keeping the bugs at bay. but i see them tearing up my vegtable garden and flowerbeds, i’d rather NOT deal with them. spinosad tomorrow night.
everything getting real tall. i have never let my plants get this big before. i’m a bit paranoid, but i’m also enamoured at how big they are getting with only 7gal pots. i think the microkote is also doing it’s job, so there’s that as well. the tallest is super lemon haze. i’m getting a bit worried they might make it over the top of the fence. (7’ fence!) i will supercrop or even top before it comes to that, but they are stretching and getting quite close. :worried:

the white og continues to chug along. taking the full texas sun like a champ. be nice if it gets some good lateral branching before it flips… but not expecting a whole lot this late in the season.

so this is the first year i got out of veggies in buckets with dismal results to making raised beds and seeing explosive growth. my cantaloupes are demonic jungle plants crawling up the side and now across the roof of the cage. get some! i know it’s not ganj related but i’m pretty friggin happy with my garden this year despite the rat damage. cucumbers getting after it also. aji amarillo peppers (brother in law brought me the seeds up from peru last year) are just starting to blossom. pretty psyched.

the autos.

rainbow kush is exceeding all expectations. i gave it a dose of alaska fish fert and bloom mix. will see how hard we can push this plant. it seems to want to produce.

RK side view

Scarlet grapes is coming along. it’s throwing off some stank and is quite sticky.

SG side view

and like all GDP and GDP crosses/progeny, the purple punch is now battling with spidermites as well… GDP is the undisputed spidermite MAGNET.

this one will get the multi-spray treatment and tossed out in quarantine with AC GDP clone mom. we will win this fight (of course) but can’t say i’m thrilled with this. i like PP a LOT and was disappointed with this one’s performance… last damn seed. and now it’s got spidermites… (facef^ckingpalm)

it’s been that kind of week.

new week tomorrow. hopefully things get sorted and back on track… in all aspects.
til next time.

raining today. that’s good. we need it. temps cooled off a bit as well. Everything looking healthy. glad i sprayed the spinosad last week. the spidermites utterly devoured one of the flower gardens. can see where some bugs have come to sample here and there on the outdoor plants, but met their fate.
cool. f^ck bugs.

AC GDP clone mom seems to have survived the treatment. has some leaf damage, but i see no more movement. it’s no stranger to the sun. it does well in or outdoors and can handle the heat as well. (another reason for the selection) tough-ass b!tch… sorry to see you go.
already see some new growth. the roots are stretching out right quick. microkote works. i highly recommend it. i will give it a good defoliation next week, and we will see what it can produce. the main stem is thick and the root system is strong. should be good.

Seedsman’s the white og is still plodding along. staying healthy. interesting symmetry/shape on the fan leaves. i wonder if they will exceed the size of the purple haze fans. the shape looks old school x’istan regional. does it have hash plant genetics in its line?

Rainbow Kush Auto - continues to pack on the flowers. it has avoided the spidermite menace. thankfully.

top view

Scarlet Grapes Auto - looks like it’s getting close, but i still see some clear trichs. it’s misshapen from all the abuse it took from the rain and wind storms, but still produced some nice colas. curious what the flavors will be… i can’t really identify it’s stank.
top view

side view

Purple Punch Auto - took a beating from the spidermites, but we fight back. always.
why are the ganja-gods attempting to deny me one of my favorites? last seed in pack, all sort of issues with germination, then the rain and wind storms, then spidermites weeks before harvest…
what are they trying to tell me? forget the PP and look elsewhere? (but i LIKE PP!!)

side view - dismal yield. so sad.

new additions. plants and air cover.
new plant came from inside. victim of the spidermites. welcome HSO Blueberry Headband to the outdoor garden.
new air cover is not quite finished. need to make some gusset plates for the corners and add another layer of netting to cover the front. will have time this coming week.
everyone is nice and healthy. many are already showing flower sign, and some are already stacking up and will probably finish early. i am fine with this. Garden of Green Cali Bay Dream seems to be the frontrunner in stacking up. sorry, no close pictures, it was getting dark, it’s been a long chaotic day and i still had to drive my wife to the airport… i just got back.

HSO Blueberry Headband took a beating from the mites. defoliated, pressure washed, sprayed, and up-potted to 2gal to see if we can coax some nice flower out of it still. it seems to be taking to the up-pot nicely. microkote does it’s job again. y’all dirt and coco farmers gotta check this stuff out. i’m not a spokesperson for many things, but i firmly believe this stuff does its job spectacularly.

The White OG is still chugging along. i decided to top it at the 6th internode to promote more lateral branching. it responded well and did what i asked of it all the way down. will see if it’ll give just 2 more weeks of stretch before it flips. that’ll finish up nice.

AC GDP shook off the mites and it just stretching like a champ. still bummed i had to do this to a 3yr old mom… but i am pleased to see her making good account of herself. i gave her some TLC, defoliated, trimmed a bit of pointless larf. get some mama. show them what you do and why i kept you…

Rainbow Kush is stacking hard. been pushing it with the dry amendments and additional alaska fish fert. kinda surprised i don’t have tip burn, but this plant can take it.
@Coffin_Dodger - take a look at the outdoor RK - do NOT be afraid to LST, top, supercrop… or push the nutes. it’s a beast.

Going to chop scarlet grapes tomorrow. it’s ready.

Purple Punch has recovered from the spidermites, but is still looking pretty dismal for yield. still needs time to finish up.

They’re looking great! Even the one that just recovered. Though she may be a little stressed, I’m sure she’ll still give you her best.

all the big outdoor plants are showing sex and many are stacking up. last week GOG Cali Bay Dream was in the lead with the stacking, this week, Seedsman’s Black Sugar has done some catching up. got some lavender colorations on some of the pistils. pretty.

GOG Cali Bay Dream stackin’ and packin’

Seedsman Black Sugar putting on a nice display. just a hint of lavender coloration on some of the pistils.

Seedsman The White OG is coming along. it’s giving the one last squirt of veg, but i see it starting to throw some calyxes and pistils. i’m fine with this. it will certainly yield enough to test on abuela.

HSO Blueberry Headband has recovered nicely from the spidermites. i had hoped it would veg a bit more before flipping, but it has done it’s flip. starting to stack up.

AC GDP is getting after it. putting on a nice stretch. i did some more defoliation and trimmed a bit of larf. will do some more this week. before it fully succumbs to the flip.

Rainbow Kush is starting to finish up. got some pistils changing colors and more frost coming on.
hey @Coffin_Dodger - check the outdoor RK. some colas big enough for a CANparison. branches are getting too heavy to hold themselves up.

Purple Punch is also starting to finish up. getting a bit of stank. not very grapey. more fuel and hot summer dumpster garbage for the time being. still disappointed with the dismal yield. :frowning:

finished the air cover. and some of the plants are STILL trying to grow out of it.
looking south

looking east

looking west

have some new additions from inside. 2 pots full of AC GDP clones. i was unable to fit them inside, so out they came.

seedsman’s the white og has done a great job catching up. has some nutes issues earlier last week, cleared up with some alaska fish fert. top dress should be feeding now.

chop day for purple punch auto. close enough on the trichs. disappointing yield. hopefully the smoke was worth the efforts.

AC GDP mom will get moved into PP’s spot after the chop. growing like a champ. i think the stretch is slowing down. see a lot more calyxes and pistils showing up. got some stacking started on the tallest branches.

Blueberry Headband decided to show up and play finally. got some stacking going on. seemed to happen overnight. i swear they weren’t there yesterday when i watered…

Rainbow Kush auto is just about done. sticky. stinky. some nice FAT colas. can’t hold it’s branches up. i don’t see any more white pistils. will check with loupe sometime this week and check the trichs.
check this beast out @Coffin_Dodger !!

it’s been hot. and bright. have been having to water them far more often. they get dried out QUICK. a few of the pots are completely rootbound at this point. no more soil to hold moisture. the plants are pretty massive. i’ve NEVER grown them this big.
the three plants just about to touch the “roof” last week said fuggit and are trying to break through now. oi… discreet went out the window this year… :worried:

purple haze, super lemon haze and sour diesel are all trying to bust thru the roof now. WTF.

the white looking good. starting to see it getting ready to stack.
hso blueberry headband putting on a nice stack, fuzzball and frost display.

AC GDP stacking up. great recovery.

Rainbow Kush getting some fade on. the colas are so massive and dense, the branches can’t hold them up anymore. i put some bamboo rods to hold up branches but the wind blows them off. i need a better trellising system before branches start snapping.
look at this beast @Coffin_Dodger
most of these colas will crush the beer CANparison. what a mighty little auto. (thanks for the freebies NASC and Blimburn)

more hot, more dry, more bugs.
been real busy last 2 weeks. been watering only for the most part. water in morning before i leave, water at night after dark when i’m back.

that has allowed spidermites to gain a foothold in the outdoor garden. several of the plants had some issues. worst hit had to be acapulco gold. i ended up cutting a bunch of limbs off… could they have been saved? probably, but the damage was bad enough to just say f^ck it, and cut them off.

also went through and did some much needed defoliation and larf cleanup v2. this will help with ventilation. mold season coming up. when our summers are over, it goes to rainy season. (so from bug season to mold season.) i’d like to be prepared when the time comes. good ventilation helps.

Queen Oxene was eating the fan leaves

There is one plant that is completely unaffected by the spidermites… Seedsman Black Sugar. it is incredibly healthy, hardy and vigorous plant. plants to left and right have mites. this one doesn’t have a scratch. it’s pest resistance is quite remarkable. very impressive.
i also really like seeing the lavender pistils. not a common sight.

Last but not least, a glimpse of the future for @Coffin_Dodger
getting closer to finish. i have had f^ckall for time to make some trellis for this. i really need to this week.

temps have cooled off a bit (high 90’sF). we finally got some rain. didn’t last more than 30min, but it was rain nonetheless.
this year has been battling with bugs. they were bad this year. flowerbed, veggie garden and ganj have all been assaulted. still messing with pockets here and there. been spraying them off with the hose/water for the most part. going to hit them again with some spinosad tonight when the sun goes down.
friggin bugs…

did some work and installed trellis inside. colas getting fat and branches getting weighed down. better give them support now before rainy season comes.

looking good. tidied up. was having trouble walking through the gauntlet.

AC GDP is just getting after it. still sad to see her go, but her finish is looking pretty glorious.

and two buckets of her clones as well… going to be a GREAT GDP harvest this year

HSO Blueberry Headband is putting on a show. pretty impressive. very frosty and sticky. not much stank yet.

Seedsman The White OG has done a really impressive comeback. late start, didn’t expect much, but i gotta say, it has exceeded expectations and is going to throw a nice harvest by the looks.

Still super impressed with the lavender colored pistils on Seedsman’s Black Sugar. it’s fattening up nicely. slight floral smells for the time being.

The "stackin’ n packin’ " award still belongs to Garden of Green’s Cali Bay Dream. they’re not even done and almost every single cola is worthy of the CANparison. the ones in back that i can’t really get to are even bigger.

and last but not least, it’s chop day for Blimburn’s Rainbow Kush auto. this was a mighty auto. very impressive growth and subsequent production. ALL colas are CANparison ready (son drank all my beer… no cans). can’t wait to sample this. smells real nice, frosty, sticky.

hey @Coffin_Dodger - whatchoo think mang?

OOOooowEEEE! I think that’s a hell of a monster, there. CANparison? Yer gonna need a mini-keg for that, sir. Loving the bright green expression on this one. Very different from the indoor runs. I wonder how much of that was environmental. And just over a hundred days and a week. That’s solid as hell- just as I’d imagine those buds are. Looks like an easy enough trim, too.

Can’t wait to hear how she smokes. That’ll be a nice teaser to the last weeks of the Kushoff, for sure.

Great work as usual, dude!

i just finished the daily water and came back in to answer some emails and do the dogs eye drops.
got the table and tunes set up outside to do the chop/wash when i’m done.
will snap some photos. i gotta have a can around here somewhere…

smells SO good. got a full whiff when i picked it up and carried it to the table.

chopped washed and hung.
ridiculously sticky. i’ve washed my hands several times. hands, wrists and forearms still have sticky spots.

i couldn’t find any cans. just a dos equis bottle. you’ll have to take my word that pretty much (80%) all top colas on this plant would crush the CANparison. the lower larfy branches still put out some massive buds.
they were all very dense and heavy during the wash. left them outside on the clothesline. was a nice breeze today. let them dry off while i did other outdoor chores. just brought them in to finish their dry in the closet.

three massive, dense and heavy colas.

handparison

trichome pron (with obligatory dog hair photobomb)

5 hangers

can’t wait to sample… smells so nice.

cooler temperatures have arrived. everything is putting energy into packing on the flowers. some are looking real nice already. two are putting on a nice early color show. sun grown rocks.

the bugs have been VERY bad this year. but i haven’t quit fighting and they pay for every inch in (their) blood. i have been spraying them off with the hose just about every night for 2 weeks. grab the branches individually and blast them one at a time. undersides, then topsides. then shake em off and let the breeze do the rest. i spray with the last dose of neem and spinosad i will spray until the harvest. hopefully this does the trick and they all finish strong.

AC GDP putting on some early frost. i don’t think we are going to catch any purple colorations with the ambient temperatures being so high… i could be wrong. would be a good surprise. going to have a GREAT AC GDP harvest this year.

HSC Sour Diesel looking pretty greasy… already getting that hot summer dumpster garbage / onion / BO stank emanating…

GOG Cali Bay Dream still the ultimate stacker n packer this year. the colas in back are enormous.

Seedsman’s Black Sugar still putting out the pretty lavender pistils.

Blimburn Super Lemon Haze has a lot of small flowers with a LOT of frost. interesting structure on this plant.

Seedsman Blue Dream also putting out some lavender pistils and a good amount of frost. nice!

the muse of jimi hendrix is taller than me. this one is stacking more like an indica despite the glaringly obvious sativa structure. GOG purple haze.

rubs hands in glee. got some gooood stuff outside this year. halfway through flower and all still healthy.

then the thought of trimming all these monsters… alone… comes to mind.

i have a bit of a DGAF trimming method. i leave vast majority of the sugar leaves. they’re covered in trichomes and help seal in the terpenes/flavors… why would i get rid of them?

i have also gotten to the point where deceptive trim nightmare plants get tossed. only trim off the big, easy to get colas. the rest of them meet the compost pile.

i’m going to have a LOT to trim this year.
i’m kinda psyched for the massive harvest, but kinda not. :worried:
gnome sayn?

Freeze anything you dont feel like trimming too much. Ice hash the stuff you want to compost if you have time. Just a thought. Well done though everything looks killer. I love how you set everything up. :fist:
