The Canadian Contingent (Part 1)

I know Matt is a polarizing figure, but this episode has lots of cool insight into the canadian scene, thought others may find it interesting

I have a few thoughts after I listened the other day, but I think ill keep them to myself for now.

On another note, I see Canopy Growth is again cutting its workforce lol. Call me cynical but I kind of enjoy watching the corporations fail at this.

There still going strong over here they have a huge indoor and outdoor grow op about 50 miles from me .
They even named the road after them that there on .

I do believe that. But they’re shutting down their 1 Hershey facility and cutting 800 jobs.

I also admit to a little schadenfreude as well. :vulcan_salute:

Hey northern friends! I recently managed to get my hands on Texada Timewarp and successfully pollinated a nice sized batch! You can check my grow log for the selected female I used, would love to send some back up where I know they’ll be loved, because they already have been!

I do love to see the large corporations fail. I think the discrepancies between the rec/med markets and the legacy markets are especially highlighted this time. I recently bought some CBD Runtz and the amount of unripe seeds in a 3.5 were staggering.

It seems like a race to the bottom, and hopefully this will clear some room for less regulation and more of a free market. I would love to see a more craft small scale market here, and less of the bargain bin buds being chucked out by these large corps.

I am in for sure! That is a legendary canadian strain in my eyes.

Beautiful Grow and Congrats on a big seed run @where-the-fries-at.

Would I be able to ask you for a shot at a few of the Texada TimeWarp seeds?

Thats a strain that has never really settled down in this area. And I remain a curious bastard…

Hope you have a great day !!!

You hit it on the head man. All those corporations and investors thought this was going to be a gold rush. Easy money. But they didnt understand the culture that’s ingrained. Every step along the way from seed to sale needs their cut. Then the race to the bottom to try and make it profitable.

I fully support the craft and legacy growers. They should have been given the first licenses and given breaks to allow them to do what they do best and get established.

But there like 2 tiers of buyers. Those who know and would pay for the quality. Then there’s those who don’t know and don’t care and want those budget buds.

I know there’s good product out there but I haven’t seen it for myself. And I sure as shit aren’t buying from the stores trying to find it. I’ve been in a few stores to talk shop and I haven’t come across a bud tender who truly knew what they were talking about.

Haha I had to look that up…when I was young I was very much like that all the time. Now, only for those who deserve it.

That’s a refreshing take. I agree fully! The race to the bottom by money grubbers reign is coming to an end here in BC. With direct sales to the retail stores, you also don’t need to grovel to Liquor control in order for superior product to hit the shelves that would otherwise have been bounced out by the LCB who don’t give a rats ass about quality and maintaining quality during distribution.

Sad to say in Colorado, small and craft growing is on the way out. The state has let big money just move in and take over, it’s ridiculous
