I know this isn’t really a South American thread, but does anyone have genetics of any kind from Chile? Maybe even a wild landrace? I read that cannabis has been cultivated in Chile since ~1500 and surely some must have escaped cultivation and done wild, genetically diversifying stuff. I don’t see SA talked about as much compared to CA and Central or South Asia in terms of strains.

There is a Chilean Landrace but I can’t recall the name right now. @Elchischas will know it or someone that does. Never seen anything available from Chile. Would be neat though. :ok_hand:
The Cannabis brought to Chile in the 1500’s was hemp, though it was Chinese broadleaf Hemp that contains the allele for thc production

I finally caught up that was an excellent read some great info some great pics. I really love that Popocatépetl definitely a cool looking plant and a really cool looking story behind it. English translation smoking mountain, I think someday this one’s going to have to make its way to my collection. Nice job everyone it’s really cool to see so many of the Oaxacan being grown all over the place.

We’re just at 12 1/2 weeks since these broke ground under 12/12 lighting. Flower room is now ranging 78°F - 85°F and 50-65% RH.

The #1 pheno is filling out nicely so far. Smells are almost non existent on this one currently, just has this under ripe green smell to me. I started adding very small amounts of epsom salt to the watering schedule as I’ve read that can help with terpene development. Maybe it’s too late for this but I guess we’ll see.

The #3 pheno below :arrow_heading_down: has noticeably thinner buds than the #1 above. This is the one that threw the single early pollen sac but nothing more since then. This one is putting off a pleasant yet subtle floral scent.

This is the short pheno #2 :arrow_heading_down: that ended up being male. I’ve dusted one of the smaller buds from the #1 pheno above with this male for some extra seeds to explore later this fall possibly. It was untopped and ended up being the same height as the topped girls from above. This one resides outside and it’s been throwing these single leaves starting about half way up. I was hoping it would reveg during the summer and maybe it has already started.

The other male #4 plant started throwing pistils and eventually there were seeds forming so I just composted that one.

Finally I started some clones of the #3 and #1 from above to see how well they do out in the summer season. The first two are the #1 and the last one is the #3. They are currently about the same height as the ones in flower so I imagine they will be fairly large come fall.

The last couple of weeks have felt like there’s no new development with them so I guess it’s good to be taking these pics for comparison over the next couple weeks but man I am getting anxious to try them out now!

@TexasTea Unfortunately the 2 Punto Rojo x Red Snake ended up as males and also all four of the Red Snake I planted ended up as males. Pretty bummed but I guess I just gotta plant more. Below are the PRxRS males if you were interested in their appearance.

Oh maaaan! Hate it when that happens.

Yeah, I just had almost all of my spring starts turn out to be male as well. I have more seedlings started so hopefully something pans out.

Interesting the one plant has no smell. I haven’t come across that before. Perhaps after a cure it will have some. Probably will. Sure looks potent regardless and the buds filled out very nice on that one. I’m really looking forward to Growing some seedless Oaxaca. The buds get so much bigger when there are no seeds.
A shame you got all males with the Punta Rojo × red snake and red snake. Better luck will come.

@PineTarBastard Nice looking males. It’s amazing how happy these plants stay in small containers.
@YoBigdaddy I have my eye on that one too. I had no idea there were fast flowering Mexican landraces. Perhaps Pakistani ancestry with these?

There’s a “landrace” from Chile called “Chilombiana”
A very old Colombian strain bring to Chile at least 60 years or more, Chilombiana its totally adapted to Chile wheater. I got some seeds waiting for the right time. The photo is from a chilean grower.
