The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 1)

Anyone have a few seeds of anything close to acapulco gold? The mass medical thread had a few folks willing to grow out heirloom mexican stock but unable to afford his 150$ packs.

Give them another 3 days. That will give you a sweet spot of clear, white and a small amount of amber. That will get you a balanced experience with room to decarboxylate slowly, stretching the duration of the effects in a very nice way.

I didn’t realize how many of the Mexi seeds were in the canister, … until I spilled them onto the kitchen floor. :confounded: I think I got every last one, ha. Murphy (of Murphy’s Law) hangs out here more than I want.

I hope I get a few going, and then lots of things could happen. Just have to have a little patience which is not my best side. Thanks for all of the positive vibes, friends! peace

I cut a small bud off yesterday and dried it in the sun. Its good, but not quite finished. Another week at least. Lots of fresh flowers all sides of the bud. Looked like only the tip was still producing until i got into it. Letting it ripen outdoors.

What color are the trichomes? what is the ratio of clear/cloudy/amber?

I’d say 50% clear, 50% cloudy. Maybe more cloudy. No Amber at all. For me, if I start seeing Amber I let things go too long. There are just as many new female flowers for me as there are old flowers finishing up. The calyx is looked like they had swelled, but I was looking at seeds… I found a couple in the top buds. Not surprising at all, I let the pollen fly after my first couple attempts didn’t produce as many seeds as I wanted.

There is another method for timing readiness for long flowering sativas. When the majority of the pistils have begun to recede back toward the calyx, they’re ready. That is the time to examine the trichomes with a loupe. You will probably have 90% cloudy/10% clear caps, at that point. That will produce optimum effects that will hover in the cerebral, mind space zone.

Long flowering Pine Oaxacan

These long flowering types can be grown better than what I did. I’ll use the experience I gained from this first round, and I won’t be making seeds for next time. Hopefully I can bump the yield up.

Not to be a dick about it but I just want to point out, that Mexico is in North America.

:upside_down_face: So are half of the previous population of people that used to live in Central America, lol… on their way here because the smugglers lied to everyone and told them the gates had been opened. :confounded:

Lol. I know. I thought about changing the name a long time ago. Central American thread name has a good ring to it. Originally it was supposed to be the Mexican Christmas run, but I didn’t want to offend anybody.

Here’s a picture of a bunch of the oaxacan branches smushed together. Makes it look like an actual bud LOL. I’m hoping this is what happens the second try

The dwarf oaxacan was picked this morning. Day 102… 3 days shy of 15 weeks. Lots of fresh flowers forming, but I think it would degrade in potency overall. I noticed that as soon as I pick seeds out of several buds they burst back into flower mode, growing out numerous fresh pistils. I have a feeling, that the buds would have gotten much bigger without all the seeds

Very old post where you show the pictures of oaxacan. I never did ask whose oaxacan this was. Where did you originally get this one and how long did it flower for?

Not one of the first 20 Mexi seeds sprouted so I’ll try a new method next.

Sorry to hear nothing germinated. Did you freeze them? Some people swear freezing seeds( from any location on Earth )helps the germination rate. Since you didn’t get any at all the first try, maybe it would be worth trying this? I hope you can get something to sprout.

GERMINATING OLD SEEDS
@GMan I researched this Topic for a While. I found best Info for that is on Icmag.

So, the things that i heard over and over again , compiled into one Recepy is roundabout this:

  • Use H202. If you have a 3 Percent Solution, you have to dillute THIS SOUTION again x 100. with Water. It will kill funghi that can build especially in very old seeds. (forgot SoakingTime)

  • Use Gibberlic Acid . It provides essential Food, buildingblocks to the old Seeds with very low stored Energy.

  • Crack the Seeds at Day one, so they dont waste Energy and Time exiting the Shells.

  • Use Wormbins after 3 or 4 Days of Gibberlic soak, It provides essential Food, and a very healthy Enviroment.

  • Wait till 30 Days!! They can grow way slower . Yes, some pop out after 30 Days.

I researched this topic many times, and its a bit long a ago , and again just lately. I think this pretty much what the people do and use. I cant recall someone concluding any of these Practices are bad.
