The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 1)

So cool seeing all the old heirlooms in this thread :metal:t2: I always thought it would be cool to cross an oaxacan with a blueberry line male since oaxacan was one of the originals in the blue line.

Although it no longer smells or tastes like blueberry, Iā€™ve been growing what I believe is blueberry since 1991. It would be neat to cross the oaxacan back to my old strain. I think someone on OG did that already with a different Blueberryā€¦ Or a breeder did that maybe?

Thatd be a cool cross to explore! Thats sweet youve had it going since 91! It seems people get too caught up in the blueberry smell and taste, for me the easygoing kind high is the appeal of blue lines. Im sure the idea has been explored here and there.

Thatā€™s awesome. What does it smell like after so many years of breeding?

I am about to get an old blueberry cut from archive.

Iā€™m also getting colorado flo x (faceoff og). The colorado flo is the colorado cut of the old blueberry dj short ā€œfloralā€ line from the mid 90s.

Archive call it overflo og, Doc D is breeding with it so I figured it was worth getting the cut.

I will be crossing these to the china cangshan sativa. I thought it would be fun to add another asian sativa to the blueberry.

A few years ago I was able to get an even older cut of the original ā€œoregon blueberry,ā€ which was the cut that circulated before dj shortā€™s name was associated with the blueberry. It was from a ā€˜commercialā€™ grow that has been operating continuously since the late 80s. Unfortunately I lost touch with them.

I used that for a (blue dream x g13hp) back cross to the original blueberry, but the clone was in bad shape when I got it and the project only produced a few seeds. Iā€™m excited to pop those sometime.

I should probably try to keep this blueberry cut from archive so I can pollinate it with those few seeds from the oregon blueberry x (blue dream g13hp).

Iā€™m not sure about keeping a mother though because I usually donā€™t introduce any cuts to my indoor grow.

Do it. But why g13hp? But if you bring in cuts from outside your growā€¦ DROWN IT FIRST for 30 min under cold water. To ensure zero bugs get inside your grow space.

The idea was to make something like a blue dream back cross. But of course the real blue dream is also a clone only cut.

So I chose something close in hybrid seed form, and used bodhiā€™s blueberry hashplant (santa cruz blue dream x 88g13hp) as my male.

Ive got Blue Dream from Humboldt Seeds

If you mean HSO Humboldt Seed Organization, their blue dream isnā€™t very close to the original which is a cut not a seed line. Iā€™d rather use a hybrid with the genetics disclosed than an unknown hybrid. They are based in spain not humboldt, so I donā€™t know what their cut is, or what they hybridized it with to get it in seed form.

Plus bodhi is from santa cruz where the cut originates, so I know he has the real thing. The blueberry hashplant was a good representation of the SC blue dream cut.

Two phenotypes were the most common that popped out of my line after several generations of inbreeding. The blueberry slowly morphed into more of a grape and then a starburst or Skittles type smell. And a second very hashy smelling phenotype popped out as well. The starburst and Skittles type smells morphed into strawberry, and the hash smelling phenotype remained along with it. The strawberry smelling phenotype has very very strong strawberry smell, and The Taste is delicious but not fruity . There are very potent plants that pop out every year, but itā€™s only probably one out of 6 or 8 plants. I donā€™t know how many different Generations Iā€™ve grown, but I didnā€™t make seeds every year maybe every third year somewhere around 10 or 12 generations.
I would love for it to have remained what it was back when I got it. To this day was the strongest High I have ever experienced.

Sounds like a nice set of phenotypes. It is interesting to see how seed lines change and adapt over time in our private grows.

That would be pretty cool to reinvigorate your blueberry line with the oaxacan.

These oaxacan heirlooms look amazing thanks for sharing your photos and smoke reports.

I got some Feminized Blue Dream seeds from a friend that F2 them presumably. Ive reached out and asked for specifics from my friend about these seeds specifically. I rather be very certain as to what the genetics of mine came from. Haha maybe I should have done this first huh

The landrace team has a Durban and Malawi. Left hand seeds here on overgrow has a Triple Durban. The real seed company has a Malawi. East African genes has Kilimanjaro.
A couple people here on overgrow have Acapulco, Lambs bread may also be found with East African genes. Itā€™s a strain called Shasha Mane, and was brought to Ethiopia by Rastafarians in the mid-50s. Probably lambsbread.
The landrace team has Punta Roja. Not sure about Colombian gold. The real one is hard to find.
Steve Dando on Instagram has an excellent chocolate thai.

A friend from icmqg said there was a dj short stain of a blueberry and oaxacan backcross that would occasionally produce a ā€œtrip weed Phenoā€
He said it was every fourth or fifth plant out of those seeds. They were called bb,highland mexican

Chimera is the holder of that Blueberry x Oaxacan Highland . It sells out fast and does not remain in stock.
