Ya that is where I am with growing these as well. The fact I have been able to keep a plant happish for 4 months flower and however long veg kinda blows my mind still.
I have a Jalisco running inside it’s about 1’ tall is this a strain that should go into flower soon as it’s being grown indoors probably? Thanks
My Pearl Stem Oaxacan BX1 ladies are in the window. I can’t believe it! I miked them today and they’re pure cloudy trichomes. They’re definitely coming down next month, so I don’t have to worry about it getting too cold, though it got pretty close to freezing already last night.
I have three Acapulco gold somewhere around 23 days old from seed. How long should I veg these before putting them in flower? I don’t want them to get giant since they will be inside. Thanks for the input.
@cannabrainer have you grown multiple plants in same pot before? Have you noticed one doing way better or one lacking because of the shared medium? Just curious I threw a small clone in a ten gal pot with a 3’ plants that had just started to flower little guy didn’t stretch much but both seem to be doing ok.
Its a thing about sexual maturity of these they take longer than indicas
With any plant its alternating node change once you see that…that’s when to take clones or train a plant generally
That period of time that its good to let them be… and nurture them into health
Its less noticeable with indica or hybrids and non existent in clones since they are way past alternating node
If you look in the link for the snowhigh / hempyMcnoodle Acapulco gold pics
Youll see its not even alternating until the very end…and the very top of the plants
If he had waited that long to flower who knows how tall they would be
But thats part of the problem of switching to flower Mexico where these are from have a max 13 of light perday that fluctuates on an hour or 2
That’s maybe why the 12/12 schedule dosent seem so crazy from seed
We are accustom to veg>trigger>flower as a way to do things
It works with these as well no doubt but its a trigger way before they naturally mature and could stress them out Its all just ends up being weighing whats prcatical
Ideal situation is tall tall greenhouse Natural light protected
One other way is to grow huge seed plants veg em up big until they go alternating node and grab some clones… grow the clones
Anyway, whatever it is Its going to turn out excellent I can tell that!
Thanks for the experience in those words @herbgreen, much appreciated !
There are just so many questions in my own health and Fall Surgery statis kind of things, I sided with playing safe, and yes, probably interfering… with a beautiful thing.
Each indoor grow I will be forcing myself to go tall next. Not afraid of bending branches. As @defharo states, be it ppdf, or an armbar on a Branch, its ALL without Remorse.
Not my First Heirlooms indoors, Humbly, but my first real Famous ones
See how long they veg now that we have height under control… I’ll Look at that flip-target again HG, easy to extend
Yeah, I see what you did there…Do the LST tie downs vs topping
Best way to go in general …bend as you go but if youre unfamiliar with what freaks out a landrace sativa it may or may not flip out
It can be a good test but @least for landrace sativa best let nature get them to maturity
Then take clones…torture those That might start telling you where the are on scale of prone to hermi
Its not much of test if you dont grow them all the way… I think all plants have latent hermi traits but some are easier to trigger
The mango haze…The males can flip out pretty easy but if you are going to test them best to have all other factors on lock… Temp fluctuation, humidity, watering nutrient dialed
Then you can use that as factor in selection…but we are so under powered right now as far as getting the numbers , the environment with natural light, We need to run 3 packs not 3! LOL!
Which is where we have been stuck about a decade now
Must have the pro set up and $$ to get 20-30 plant seed runs instead of like 5 plants
Its simple process just Labor intensive and $$ will be there when time comes no doubt
Time is ticking on few of my best stuff…Its gonna be fine but a few have been near a decade in fridge …
Not really. I had restricted the Golden Tiger Panama much more than the Panama Haze and Panama before transplanting her to the big pot where the three plants are and despite that she is catching up quickly in height and has barely shown pistils.
I think it is much more about volume of nutrients in the medium than anything else. However, more than three plants in the Earth Box would hinder the growth of the genetically smaller plants or the ones that have been more restricted during their vegetative period. For example, the Panama Haze is larger due to genetics and less restriction, but all of them have all of their fan leaves, which is something that is not always achieved in the initial phase of flowering.
I do use a soil mix of my own that is based on Coots basic recipe with a twist, so the plants have lots of biochar, basalt dust, silicate, mycorrizae and trichodermas, as well as slow release micro and macro nutrients in general, including neem cake to fertilize and ward off pests, and good compost of several sources and their teas. The key is to keep a healthy and diverse microbial life that delivers those nutrients whenever the plants need them.
If humans need a vert diverse range of non processed foods to maintain a healthy gut (microbiome) and to properly deliver those nutrients to the organs and muscles, then plants are the same. Cook a good soil and fill it with beneficial bacteria, microbes, and fungi and these friends will do the work.
