Made some Medicated Blackberry Hard Candy over the weekend.

2 grams of Mac shatter in recipe and each 1x1 inch candy is about 28mg. Super duper tasty no flavorings or colors added just extracted juice from blackberries on the stove, sugar and corn syrup.

I have plans to use other berries, reduced cola, lemon juice, cherry juice…etc think of your fav flavors and get creative. You could always use flavoring oils too.

Prepare blackberry extract:

12 oz (next time im using 24 oz)
1/2 cup of water

Put berries and water in pot on medium heat, mush berries until satisfied about 5 minutes or so then strain. This yielded me 2/3 cup of blackberry extract.

Prepare butter and hash

1/2 stick of butter
Amount and kind of hash is your choice

Bake 1/2 stick of butter with hash at 250F for 30 minutes minimum in small oven safe dish.

Making candy

Candy thermometer
2/3 cup blackberry extract
1/3 cup Corn Syrup (prevents sugar crystallization) OR 1/8 tsp creme de tartar per cup of sugar
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1/2 stick of butter/hash

Add blackberry extract, corn syrup and sugar into pot and bring to boil. Stir until sugar has been dissolved then do not stir at all, insert candy thermometer.

Wait patiently until temperature reaches the hard crack stage about 305F, this took about 20-30 minutes.

Once 305F is reached remove from heat and stir and you can add flavoring, color or citric acid at this point. We now want to wait until the candy is at 240F or so then we add the butter/hash and keep stirring. Once fully combined prepare parchment paper or candy molds. I just dumped it out on parchment that had 1 inch grid and waited it to cool. At around 120F I started scoring the pieces so I can break them apart once it is fully cool. Once cool I break apart and then dust with powdered sugar or as @HeadyBearAdventures mentioned you could use citric acid in the powdered sugar to create sour coating, definitely going to have to try that.

These were about 28mg each 1x1 piece.

@JustANobody Enjoy!!

Cut the sugar with food grade citric acid, and now you’ve got Sour warheads!

@HeadyBearAdventures Hell yea! Forgot to add that part, I did add 1 tsp of citric acid but I think it needs more next time, gotta crank it. Also was going to make some fizz candy ahead of time and incorporate that too. Candy stays hard and turn into sugar daddy consistency in the mouth.
