The Lazarus Grow

I’ve decided to name him Draco. He’s already pollinated the White Rhino, Poison Daddy and MMXX. I’m going to collect as much pollen as possible from him, so I can share with others. I found a female with the same traits, and am hoping to share pollen with the grower (for the sake of science lol).

Bad news. One of the Orange Goji x Amnesia Haze has decided to go :transgender_flag: so it’s gone.

I hate to kill it, but I definitely don’t want something that is hermie to that degree in my room.

The ladies are starting to scavenge their lower leaves, which means that they are due to get a little fertilizer.

Here’s the two Grape Pie x Snow Lotus, they are both very happy plants and are looking quite healthy. I really wanted to hit them with some BOG pollen, but I don’t have any.

The White Rhino is on the right, and the other Orange Goji x Amnesia Haze is on the left. The WR got its top a bit crisped up from zooming into the HPS, but it responded by growing out several new tops. It’s a heavy feeder. I pollinated it with the mutant male’s pollen.

This is MMXX on the left, it reeks of cat piss right now. It smells so strong that at first I thought a tomcat actually had sprayed nearby. I hit it with the mutant male pollen as well.

This is Poison Daddy. I dabbed a big of pollen on some of her lower branches as well.

Lastly is Dirty Martini, top center. It’s been growing mostly under a 100w LED and hasn’t been touched, except for watering it. It looks good, though I am not terribly impressed with autoflowering plants. I debated whether to pollinate it or not, and decided against it.

Very very disappointed with Trizzlers. There’s maybe 3 grams of “bud” (and I am being generous). It’s all just leaves and stems. Boo :-1:t2:

Tastes and smells okay enough, but there’s just nothing there.

I took a test toke and it was just kinda meh.

Hey, at least you gave her a shot. Onto the next great strain!

I’m not really complaining, it was a freebie and a learning experience- but nah, there’s better stuff out there than that.

Well, we’re now 3 weeks into flowering and the stretch is over & the ladies are starting to stack up. Temperature is definitely going to be a challenge. Until I can afford to upgrade, I’ll have to idle the room until fall, because there’s just no way to keep it cool enough in there during the blistering heat of summer.

As you can see, they’re dropping fan leaves and scavenging nutrients from the old foliage. That’s fine, it’s what they are supposed to do. They’ve served their purpose and aren’t needed now. I hit them with GH nutrients and that should help boost their flowering into high gear. The plants got a little dry and are a bit droopy, but I watered them and they should perk back up.

First up is Dirty Martini. I have essentially ignored this plant, and let it do its thing.

She’s the smallest girl in the room, but she’s starting to bulk up nicely. I can’t wait to see how she’s going to finish.

Next up is Grape Pie x Snow Lotus.

I have two of these girls, and they are beautiful plants. Very easy to grow, and have given me no problems whatsoever. I originally wasn’t going to pollinate them, but I think I might have to dust a few lower nodes. Y’know, for science and stuff.

MMXX is easily the stinkiest thing in the room. She’s struggling with the heat from the HPS, and trying to keep her away from the light just enough so she doesn’t scorch is difficult.

Lastly, we have White Rhino (left) and Poison Daddy (right). The white rhino is getting cranky, she is a heavier feeder than the others and has sloughed off a lot more leaves. Poison Daddy is trucking right along, but she also has dropped some leaves.

I can see a wide variation with these plants. The grape pie x snow lotus girls have very strongly indica dominant traits, and I can see some sativa heritage emerging in the orange goji x amnesia haze, white rhino and poison daddy.

Lastly, photos of my enormous harvest from Trizzlers.

Trizzlers was a cute plant, but there’s just nothing there. What there is looks good enough, but the high is mediocre at best. Oh well, it was a freebie and life goes on.

This has been a very fun grow so far, and it’s brought back a lot of fond memories.

I’m not quite where I want to be, equipment wise, but it is a start. I really want to get two more HPS with air cooled hoods like I originally had, but that’s gonna have to wait.

@OldUncleBen thought I would see what you think. The Osmocote got them this far, and the GH should carry them across the finish line if I’ve calculated correctly.

Huh? If they’re scavenging N then they need more, not less. And no, doing so will enhance flowering, not hinder it. Pot produces bud not because of low N bloom foods. Those foods actually screw everything up and are ONLY sold to folks who buy into the bloom foods hype and don’t do botany.

Regards,
Uncle Ben

Will try to post pix tomorrow on my diary. Have learned that for some strange reason pure indicas are prone to go male. I just found 2 more males, one of them being the old Deep Chunk. Beautiful plant. Am debating whether or not to take the pollen or just dump it.

Out of 10 indicas I’ve growen since Nov. of last year, only 2 have been female. Sucks.

My thinking is that flowering plants will scavenge N from leaves they no longer need once the plant stops actively growing structure and transits into flowering. The plant drops leaves it no longer has any use for.

Btw I’m keeping a close eye on these girls in particular:

On the left is Orange Goji x Amnesia Haze. On the right is Grape Pie x Snow Lotus. Both of them strongly favor their indica heritage, via a common shared ancestor (Snow Lotus by Bodhi). I may very well grow out the next rotation with their offspring and the C99, just to keep it interesting. I get bored easily, lol.

If I had more headroom I’d probably lean more towards the lankier sativa dominant side, but I don’t. I have to grow plants that are going to fit in the space allotted. That’s why I loved Bogglegum so much, it was perfect for my closet.

We’re 4 weeks into flowering and the girls are starting to get a bit top heavy. I’m probably going to stake them, just as a precaution. It’s the full moon, so they’re going to get their last blast of pollen and some more fertilizer.

I pulled Dirty Martini out and looked her over, since she is 84 days and the breeder claimed she should go 79-87. She’s close, but not quite there yet. I’m honestly surprised that this plant is so nice, and I kinda regret not hitting her with a bit of pollen too. She’s a very short but stout plant. I haven’t touched her since I put her in the room, except for giving water.

White Rhino has developed a bizarre multiple cola at the top, probably because she got tip burn at a critical point during the stretch. She’s losing leaves (so is the monstrous Grape Pie x Snow Lotus next to her) and is definitely packing on weight.

Grape Pie x Snow Lotus produced two entirely different phenotypes, a tall lanky sativa dominant (see above) and a short bushy indica (middle).

Here we have a short indica dominant Orange Goji x Amnesia Haze (L), Grape Pie x Snow Lotus ©, and MMXX ®. All three have been pollinated by my mutant male. Since they all share a few common ancestors, this should be interesting. Orange Goji is a descendant of Snow Lotus, while Space Queen and Amnesia go back to C99. White Rhino is the grandparent of Space Queen. Grape Pie is the grandchild of Granddaddy Purple, who is the grandmother of Poison Daddy. (I don’t know the background of MMXX.)

I have some C99 that I’m thinking about running on the next rotation, along with these, plus I’m still sitting on a ton of cuttings (in my fridge) and I am trying to save pollen from my mutant male.

Hopefully I will have some good seeds to share with everyone.

That male with fasciation is so cool looking. Don’t expect that mutation to carry on in the offspring though. I don’t believe fasciation is entirely genetic. I’m no expert tho.

I’m actually more interested in his Space Queen heritage than the mutation itself. He smells great and I think he will go nicely with the ladies. Hopefully the results will be worth the effort. I hit the girls with the last dusting of pollen and now we wait…

Gotcha. I’d agree there. :+1::wink:

It’s now 5 weeks, and the girls are starting to get really sticky. I cut a few lower branches off Dirty Martini and have them hung up to dry; the top is foxtailing and I will probably cut it down entirely in another week or so.

I can see seeds developing, which is really exciting! It will be fun to share these with everyone.

This worked like a charm for me. Thanks for the idea!

Your grow is looking great!

I snipped a couple of lower branches off of Dirty Martini to dry and sample, since I am almost out of Trizzlers (there wasn’t much to begin with) and since the plant is getting closer to harvest. Took a toke and immediately lost vision in my right ear. I think I’m gonna enjoy this one.

All these years I thought I was getting high, but I can still see fine out of both ears… what gives? Is my weed bad?

I lost hearing out of my left eye, too. It isn’t a plant that has the traits I want, but I can’t complain about the high. I didn’t intentionally seed her, but I am sure she’ll have a seed or two from the pollen that floated around in there.

She’s not a big plant, but she’s definitely bigger than Trizzlers was.

As you can see, the lower branches are basically done. There’s little to no new pistil growth, and the calyxes are full.

The top cola, however, is a different story. Normally it would be the other way around (top finishing first, then the lower stuff) but she’s different. You can see she’s loaded with fresh new pistils- I hit her with fertilizer to help her along.

I went ahead and cut off the lower stuff, since I need smoke and they’re done. Taking them off will help the plant focus all its energy on developing that massive top cola- hopefully.

Yikes on bikes, that filter sock is FILTHY. It’s been extremely windy and dusty here (we’ve been in a severe drought) and it’s apparently all wound up on that sock. Lol
