I have questions about the “butterfly damper”. We have a woodburning stove in a camp. This stove has a damper in the pipe that goes to the outside. I guess you would call it the … vent pipe? How is it used. I know zero about woodstoves. I tried lighting it but was scared so I just lit very small fire. Smoke was coming out of woodstove into living area. Does the damper open by itself once heat starts rising? The damper dosent lock in any position. It opens and closes very easily.
Looking absolutely beautiful @LoveDaAutos - love keeping up with your grow
That damper aligns with the handle, so when the handle is horizontal, the damper is closed. It should stay where you put it , not flap around. It should be up and down when starting a fire and the breathers on the door should be open . Start a small fire towards the back of the stove and let the pipes heat up before putting more in. No need to fill the stove over 1/3 or so until you get the hang of it. The function of that pipe damper is to slow the burn after you have made a bed of coals and shut the breathers on the stove door almost down. Then when the fire is low, you could turn the pipe damper almost closed for the night and your wood will last . A good stove and coal bed , loaded and dampered right will last from tonight until tomorrow evening with live coals still in for restarting.
I was saddened to hear today that The New York Football Giants released their starting quarterback Daniel Jones. Sad because he put so much effort into being the best he can be and for the most part did not have a supporting cast good enough to let him reach his full potential. I hope he gets another shot with a contender that has talent on the offensive side of the ball. The Giants need to play their backups for the rest of the season, grab that #1 draft pick and get themselves their next franchise quarterback.
