Seems there’s a new trend on the lake here this year…there are multiple 5th wheel trailers out, sliders and all. I imagine they’re renting them as accommodations with a shack.

I’m sitting here rolling some fatties to take with me tomorrow.
The moon phase is messing with the fishing though. I was out yesterday and had one bite,… no fish for 5 hours spent. hmmmmm
So tomorrow it;s another lake and see if the bite is on there.
5am comes early!!!

You guys are making me sick. A bunch in my fishing group have plans for Saginaw bay at the beginning of Feb, but doesn’t look like its happening for now. I knew i shouldn’t of bought soo many toys before the season started .

It looks fun as hell. We have a lake here that is freezing over good this time of year, but now 50’s and 60’s here for highs. I’m in southern Colorado and it should be cold right now. I went by earlier today and the ice was melting in a lot of places. There were houses on it last week. I gotta try it sometime. I can’t believe that crappie in the first pic or two, @douggyfresh420. I grew up in Alabama crappie fishing and a 2 1/2 lb’er was a big one. Good luck for the rest of winter. Warm weather in the future here.

went out on our lake today and caught a really hot kokanee bite just after 10am at 18feet…
About 14 inches of ice so far but it’s still early in the season.
Had 4 on the hook but only got 2 on the ice. That’s the way it goes.
Friends came along today too and they managed to land a couple as well.
Nothing big but chunky keepers regardless

Ice at our elevation has been like 5-6 inches for awhile, but this is up my road a little ways and the elevation goes up so it was about a foot.

Your so lucky man. I’ve been dying to get on Saginaw Bay the last couple of years but we’ve been so unlucky over this way.

Gotta find a spot at some elevation, last year was terrible for us too.

We had plans to go hit up Black lake in Michigan. Went there last year and had a blast, but things just didnt work out. I been watching too many Joe Holland videos. I need to head far north for about 4-5 months out of the year.

This year I only got 3 days. Less ice every year. Here’s some shots from the last 5 years.

I’ve been out a few times now. Even here there ice is not what it usually is.
Most lakes would have close to 2 feet of ice but not this year. Our lake has around 10 to 14 inches depending on where on the lake you are. I’ve been hitting a lake about 45 minute drive away for better ice as its about 500 feet higher up and has less current.
I’m after kokanee during the day and I’m gonna start hitting a couple other lakes for Burbot at night. I really want some burbot on the table, its been years.

I’ll start taking pics of my adventures. Hopefully we have a good 6 weeks of ice to fish on but it’s been a wierd year due to the effects of that Hunga Tonga volcano blast that no one seems to know anything about. Largest explosion in recorded human history … the equivalent of 38 megatons of TNT exploding just below the ocean surface. Stopped the earth’s rotation momentarily , wobbled it’s axis and shook the oceans globally. Early data suggested that the event could alter the earths typical seasons and that there is a 1.5 degree increase in global temperature as a direct result of how high up into our atmosphere the billons of gallons of vaporized water travelled and will remain until it dissapates. Unlike other super volcanic blasts that create global cooling due to atmospheric ash… the vaporized water in the upper atmosphere does the opposite.

Long story short… it ain’t human driven climate change and it is temporary. Real science suggest a 3 to 4 year cycle that should return to “normal” once the majority of that vaporized water dissapates out of the upper atmosphere.
This is all something that the Climate Crisis nazis don’t want anyone to know about because it blows holes in thier agenda to convince the sheeple that us humans can prevent climate change LOL
It applies to us fishermen and hunters because we live our lives by the seasons and things are gonna be wonky for a couple more years

Went out again today with my son and a couple of his friends. Was a good time but didn’t catch anything. 11-12 inches of ice.

When it’s just ice out and the water has been clear and still, the first good rain to muddy the water within a day or so the fish will move up to get the light they have become accustomed too…The cloudier it is , the shallower they go.
