Hiya @GrouchyOldMan .lol thanks. I really like it in the cooler temps. Good spot to read. nothing too complicated. purchased to stave off plants duying overwinter. 16x20ft. 2 layer plastic that’s replaceable. came to ~6k, couple guys had it setup in a day.
next year I think I’ll play around with the 55gal drum as a main res for a series of either octo or growbuckets.
Osmocote project is showing some promise. this plant has another month to go. top dressing some more osmo and a little gypsum.
it’s more of a general struggle againt hypothetical situations. I worry about thing, sometimes with reason. I’m happy I’ve been able to handle what I was confronted with so far.
Just picked up another 5lb of solution grade gypsum and a kilo of VAM’s Endo mix. This weekend I’m hopefully transplanting the Jack Herer seedling.the Lavander jacks will need sexing before transplant. They look great.
Greenhouse. they’re drinking steady, I noticed some burned tipes, I’ll drop the nutes to 3.5gr/gall in the next refil.
Question: Since these are still in vegg, can I trim them like a topiary? cause I was looking at my fiskars hedge trimmers…Bad idea?
Hells yes! That’d be way cool! If you’ve got a trellis you could train em Espalier! I did one of those with a big White Widow once, ended up like six feet wide and three feet high. Like a vertical SCROG. Great fun!
Starting with the µOcto dead center, Jack herer photo fem got transplanted into the final container last night. added a nice spoonful of VAM-Endo mix half-way in the column. now the waiting game for a couple weeks until the roots hits the water. why tall sleeve? Thought I ran out of the others. Found more once I was done, of course.
cloning bucket is doing its best for 3 cuts of the bananaz from the giant plant in the greenhouse. they look like hell but I see the start of roots already. hang tight, girls!
Lavender Jack seedlings on the left look good. I moved them to the bottom section for a few days of 12/12. hopefully we can scare up a sign or two.
if you lack the patience/materials to mix up JP’s one and done brew, there is an organic, safe (pollinator safe too!) and effective OTC product
one word: spinosad.
manufacturer: bonide
product: captain jack’s dead bug brew (spinosad)
i started using this last year. completely organic. i am a fanatical believer in this product now. (fight me! pulls crysknife and pounds chest in blatant challenge) i had been plodding along with DIY organic methods prior to spinosad with mixed results. this stuff is a game changer.
measure it out, mix it up, spray it on everywhere (especially undersides of the leaves and stems) let it dry on. lasts for 3-4 weeks (maybe more in greenhouse without rain/weather to affect it)
i make my own house atomics mix to use against the bug menace that adds a kill on contact angle, but that’s another conversation for another day.
you CAN take back your garden. spinosad is the weirding way.
On my second bottle of capt Jack dead bug only because I lost the first bottle. once mixed solutions lasts 10 days (called them to ask). love the stuff.
right there with you in the all bugs must die jihad…got the username already…
PUTS Zkittles x bananna og) x zkittles bc1 is a tree, man. Was debating some hedge trimmers brutality and trellis net bondage…maybe next weekend. not sure if its a good idea.
Jack Herer in the µOcto is a month old and complaining for calcium…(fixed it but it has to tell me about it) will move to the tent within 2 weeks, likely flip to flower 1st of sept…
The Lavender Jack seedling in the 2 cups spent a week in 12/12 and are now in 18/6. Hopefully they will have shown sex and transplant the fem by end of august…then move to tent by end sept to flower.
Or conventional pots with osmo until room. Dunno. things changed.
The banannaz clones in the bucket no roots yet but they’re regaining their color so I am hopeful. Likely they’ll put in conventional pots with a little osmocote and keep until tent room is available.
