Hell yeah I’m all about it. I would be super interested to watch that Khorasan Iran project as it progresses. Besides the Nanda Devi, most of my Sativas are Nepali and I’ve never sampled that genre so I don’t know if they are intense or chill, but they are definitely long flowering. I will reach out with some thoughts.
I bought the cannonball off a metal detector guy having a garage sale. He had permission to work a field neighboring the fort. The British had a 6 pounder cannon. There used to be a cannonball sticking out of the soffit of the old stone fort. I hope it’s not this one. I’ll go there again someday and will enquire. If it’s missing, I have it, and I’ll return it.
He also had a mint condition trade hatchet/ peace pipe, likely from the French and Indian War or from the Revolution. He found it in pristine condition under a large rock. The natives used to put their hatchets underground or in a tree hollow at the end of a conflict as a symbol of peace. Thus, the term “bury the hatchet”
I’m getting ready to up pot the females and the males I generally leave them in the like less than 1 gallon pots unless I’m trying to make millions of seeds ps I guess I should make a thread for them lol I might as well
Well I think today might be chop day. Definitely picking Miss Late to dinner and likely picking Miss Pistachio and Miss Big Leaves.
The short kush pheno was put outside to test cold resistance. The fans got burned badly, but the bud and bud leaves were intact. I don’t know what temperature it survived But it was 20゚ out that night and it was in my barn. There are doors open and Lots of air moving through, but it keeps the frost off. Damn sure killed those aphids though lol.
The Peshawar pheno finished up on top but is still going down low, so I’ll keep it for now.
@drgreensleeves def start a thread for those.
Man, I’ve seen these on the Antiques Roadshow. So awesome!
Man I am on tinter hooks to know how these smoke. Thank you for getting in there w the pictures. I am blown away how many people, especially seed vendors, try to rely on a verbal description. I wanna see the action Goddammit! Chop day is fun on a bun, don’t forget your camera!
No doubt! Show me the bud porn!
Miss Big leaves and Miss Late to dinner. The two purple/ black plants.
These are both beautiful plants. Miss Pistachio too. Just need to find the pictures…
Miss Pistachio and the Peshawar pheno…
The Peshawar pheno is a strange one. Finished up top really early on, and had funky small buds. Down low, there are resinous, normal looking buds that are still going. It’s like it’s two plants a couple or 3 weeks different in ripening.
Here’s the upper buds of the Peshawar pheno.
They’ve been done a couple weeks. Great head high, but not a desired pheno for breeding.
When I get plants like that, I chop the top half off and let the bottom flower on for a couple of weeks more or whatever it takes.
Here’s one I found on the farm hoeing the tobacco… looks like he either shot and missed, hit a rock, or perhaps broke it off on the bone of an animal that had long decomposed. Only the arrowhead knows the real story.
I used to find many in the sand bar down by the river inTexas. Found a skinning tool just a flat circular piece knapped all the way 3/4 of the circumference. If you ever did any skinning work you know how useful the curved edge of the blade is. Its hand size fit perfectly for a tight grip in greasy skin oil fat layer covered hands, Makes you respect your ancestors more knowing what they had todo to survive
I dont have a picture of it but it was very similar to this one. Its amazing how much you can lose during a few years in the clink… ah well such is life
Alot of arrow heads are broken in the making process
Those are badass. Maybe the other part is in someones ass bone long gone by now.
I’ve found several of these fletching tools. To the untrained eye they can be hard to spot. But I’ve found small and large ones, as well as shaft shapers and other stone tools.
I realize this thread has drifted a bit, and a lot due to my part. So as a re-directive, I’d like to address an online friend who has posted here, is fairly new to OG, and is and always has been a wealth of information. Particularly when it comes to Tirah, Waziri, and the valleys of Pakistan. He is the man that first introduced me to these genetics, and schooled me in the making of hash.
I’m speaking of @p59teitel
If ever there was an OGr to contribute knowledge you can count on regarding the Tirah, and Pakistan landraces, it’s @p59teitel .
Hope he reads this. First thing is he mentioned a seed company that doesn’t pay the taliban tax, a reliable company, I think it was Real Seed?
Yeah, me too. All the plants could use more time down low, really. I’m leaving the bottoms to reveg to make seed hopefully. 3 males too.
I’ll be looking forward to your friends contribution to the thread. @LandraceWarden is the seed collector for these plants. He is a member of the Afridi Tribe and grew up amongst these genetics. A good portion of the profits help the local farmers out, and after what they have gone thru over the last 20+ years, I don’t mind helping. Kwik seeds ( RSC) also has Tirah.
Speak of the devil and maybe he’ll appear!! Hmmm, swear I saw him typing… I need more coffee.
Thats very cool @Upstate Always good to have an authority in an area, especially one as interesting and sometimes complex as this one. I will be back reading his post prob for the rest of the morning, lol.
I found this interesting article from 2010, put out by Reuters, should be reliable intel. One thing that caught my eye was this
Three times cheaper to cultivate than opium, the net income from a hectare of cannabis is $3,341 compared to $2,005 for opium.
Here is the article in it’s entirety:
Thanks PVOG. I’m no expert but I do try to reach out to the actual seed collectors and associates to get info. Both The Real Seed Co. and Baaba Qo Selections are legit outfits and trustworthy sources of seeds. I’ve conversed once or twice with Landrace Warden on IG and he too is legit. I’m guessing his Tirah seeds are similar to what I got from TRSC, i.e. the traditional tall regional landrace.
And if he’s listening, I’d love to hear more from him about the South Waziristan crops as he posted a bunch of pictures from there about 3 years ago. I grew and reproduced seeds from TRSC Waziri in 2020, source was the bazaar in Toi Khulla. The sativa-ish looking spiral-flowered garlic pheno mom I got that year is my fave plant ever. The flowers cure into a very smokeable gold that I enjoy smoking as weed. That’s unusual as I’ve always found hashplant flower to be a bit harsh and hot on the throat, and vastly prefer smoking the hash from Afghani and Pakistani strains. The buzz is quite upbeat and not at all couchlock, it’s great for doing yard work and chores. Her F1 offspring have all grown true to her as well. I’ll always have some of her around.
And happy to share what I know of the Tirah. Hint: make sure you have a good tall stepladder.
@Upstate you have handed me a great bone to chew on. Harvesting the tops I always have some lower stuff I don’t bother with for one reason or another. Pollinating the leftovers to make seeds sounds like an amazing idea. Question? How far along can a flower be and still be able to make viable seeds from pollinating? Can one pollinate that far in the life cycle? How long after applying pollen does it take for a seed to grow to fruition? A couple weeks? More?
