As long as you have fresh stigmas, they will make seed, but i like to have a good number when i do it. The further along you are, the more risk of dud seeds forming with the good ones. I’ve only failed making seed this way once, with Moroccan. All seed were duds in that case.
Sometimes, if you switch back to a long light cycle ,that’s no good either, as the plant will concentrate on growing leaves in an attempt to grow again and it will abort at least some if not most seed.
Seeds take a normal amount of time (4-6 weeks)or longer to form, depending on how much of the plant you leave to support their production. I like leaving the bottom four sucker shoots/ small branches. I’ve pollinated a single bud I left behind. It was the only green thing left on the plant. That’s the momma of one of my best lines.
This is excellent information and when they say you learn something new every day, this qualifies. As I only grow outside in Massachusetts, my gardens finished in October. Sometimes late September. So I would have to pollinate by mid to late August to be safe.
I did some pollination last year that seemed to come out ok. Now that I have more facts, I’m sure things will be better. I have been blessed with some fem pollen to use on my best plants. One thing I did hear about pollinating, is that by dusting buds closer to the stalk may result in hardier, healthier beans. Though I have not been able to verify this, it did come from a reliable source, and I’ll certainly be trying it this season.
It would keep the frost off of it if you got one. The inner parts of the plant always survive longer. I haven’t noticed any difference myself.
Welcome to OG! Landrace Warden has both Tirah varieties. Waiting on this next moon and then popping the Regional landrace, Ilaqai Nasal.
I usually pollinate ten days either side of Sept 1. I’ll hit the branches 3 or 4 times with pollen over that 20 day period.
I removed South Waziristan from the list of my collection as from my source the seeds which they were using to cultivate were directly sourced from Orakzai Agency Tirah.
As Far as my findings the Waziristan has been no longer cultivating like it used to earlier in past 5 years.
So, it was not worth to collect, as Tirah offerings and Waziri Offering would somehow be the same ecotypes. As landraces have much higher phenotype plasticity and also the potential is big enough that the Tirah Valley itself might not have discovered all of it.
So, about Baba Qo he only roams around Northern side of Afghanistan. TRSC does not have any of the Landraces documented thoroughly as LandraceWarden and Paklandracexchange because each and every year we put our efforts to get things more improved.
Also, if someone had been in this work for generously more than 10 years or so it definitely buys them confidence to do/show whatever they want to and make things in their favor.
The smell comes from Kush plants, so I think it’s possible to find it anywhere over there. Neat smell for a plant, isn’t it?
Yes…super stoked to find a true pistachio, don’t know why, but I’m loving it it’s smell.
Hi, Greg Say Hi to James.
Hey buddy!! will do, he’s probably the best growing friend I’ll ever meet in life.
Hope to see you one day and thank you for all you do for the growers of the world.
Have a great summer brother! @LandraceWarden
Brother Same for you, Thank you for meeting me in this journey and pushing me towards the greatness with wisdom.
@LandraceWarden - it’s too bad the Wazirs changed up their crops, that strain is special - but I’m sure their yields are bigger with Tirah and no one can blame them for wanting that.
I’m sure they’ve imported seed from Tirah or elsewhere for a long time.
Til Scrappy Too came in and fucked it all up
they were already using Tirah Orakzai seeds.
I just found out that my neighbor has a medical license. They have a great location for some Ilaqai Nasal😁 and said I can grow their plants for them. I have pollination rights.
Hell yeah
Wow that might open lots of new opportunities! Do they have anything in particular they like the most?
Amalgamated Tirah is really tasty. Only miss late to dinner and miss big leaves are dry enough to sample. Both are sweet and skunky. Really tasty! I’m surprised a little bit, as I thought hash strains were typically not tasting good as ganja. .
Miss late to dinner is the strongest smoke so far, but Miss Big leaves was still on the wet side when i smoked it. We’ll see. A very relaxing high, felt in the forehead and behind the eyes mostly. Not really stony…more balanced effects. I was surprised by the similar flavor of these 2 plants. Excellent luck.
