TopicalWave's Hazey Hybrids

@lefthandseeds

I was chatting with a buddy who is a really great grower that has been experimenting with different genetics every year in a decent-sized space, and sends samples of his plants for THC and terpene testing every year. He grew a few of the RSC Syrian 3-4 years ago and was chatting to me about it. I guess it is actually reproduced/preserved by a guy in Southern Ontario which I thought was interesting. The other thing he mentioned was that when he sent a sample for testing one of them came back almost no THC and all THC-V and people flipped when he posted it. He said he was getting new DMs daily about the cut asking for it/about it. But he didn’t keep it because he didn’t like the flower itself or the plant much. Apparently, Hoku Seed co was one of the people asking for it! Anyways as I have low plants counts and space here I might hold off on them for a bit until I have some more room to work with. I think I am going to do another flower run after this anyways.

Awesome! Did he only do 1 test, or did it show up in multiple?

Here’s the thing about THCV – it’s not psychoactive. That said, in conjunction with THC, it’s pretty great. Personally, I think polyhybrids squash out these more recessively expressed cannabinoids, and it’s one of the missing ingredients in making a sativa hybrid that is actually good.

That’s why I want to experiment with it. If I can get a plant that expresses a lot of THCV, then I know it won’t stomp out the THCV in a sativa, and then use it to dial down the flowering time.

I think people are missing the point a bit with THCV. Perpetual outcrossing and even single outcrossing might really negate some of the cannabinoid variety in a lot of these strains. We’ve already witnessed the end of THC monocannabinoid breeding, and frankly it’s not all that great. Get a pure THCV strain and cross it to a sativa that naturally expresses some THCV and you might get something special.

Here are the reports if your interested. I believe he only tested 1? Not sure though. He did say he only grew a couple of them. Syrian is in the Season 6 results for terpenes.

The notorious RnD page is fun to browse as well. He is doing some serious work.
