TrevorLahey's Trailer Park 2022

What’s up OG. Been a few months since I posted any updates on my grow, figured now is as good of time as ever to start a fresh topic.

I’ve made some changes to the grow over the last few months. For starters I finally managed to build a system to drain my runoff out of my tent to a bucket with sump pump, then pumped outside. This allowed me to finally hook up external high capacity reservoirs and meant I didnt have to fill my old 5gal reservoirs and dump my runoff every other day or even daily as I was doing. This was a huge upgrade and meant I can actually go away on trips and stuff, which I’ve done twice since hooking it up.

Here’s a video of how it all works.

The other big change was switching to larger pots. I admit that over the years I scoffed at a lot of you who said my small 3L pots were too small, and I didn’t think something could truly be “rootbound”. As long as you were getting O2 and nutrients to the roots I thought the only effect of having a small pot was a smaller plant.

Well I still believe that, but the problem I think I’d been having for a long time, is that my roots were getting so thick and dense in the pot, that the water and nutrients werent evenly making it all the way through the pot. I came to this conclusion during my last run, where for the first time ever, all of my plants died prematurely. It wasnt horrible they were only 2 or 3 weeks from harvest but the problem was they grew so damn good, that hardly any water could get through the pot at all. Most would just spill over the top and the rest would just sit in a permanent puddle on the surface of the coco.

For reference, here are some pics of the devastation that occured:

So now I’m trying 2 and 3gal pots which are much much bigger than the 3L pots I was using, and my plants are yet to skip a beat. Usually by this time they are seriously burnt up and spotted, but they may still run into problems as they’re only on day 41 of a suspected 80+.

As usual they are all autos. In the first tent (from left to right) I have one Wedding Cake and one Wedding Cake x GG#4 from @SaintAliasKnife and one Ghost Toof x Sugar Black Rose from @ReikoX.

Some light training, defoliation and tucking along the way. They are all due for another defoliation now that they are in full bloom. Overall pretty happy with the progress.

Currently feeding 3g part A and 3g part B per gallon of MegaCrop 2-Part which works out to 1.6EC over base. I’m thinking of either increasing to 3.5g A/B per gal or introducing some Monster Bloom for the next 2 res changes to help keep their plates full through flower.

In the other tent I have another 3gal plant, a (Red Poison x Cookie Devil) x Dark Spark by @Mr.Sparkle that wasn’t going to fit with the others so it’s going to finish in here alongside 3 new seedlings that are actually the identical strains I’m growing in the other tent. This was by accident as I just picked the strains that I know grow big plants and accidentally picked the same ones I’m already growing. I smoke too much.

Day 1 on the seedlings, day 41 on the RPCDxDS.

Summer is here, how’s everyone been the last few months? Miss chatting with y’all!

Hey welcome back man.

I’ve had pots that I could’ve sworn were just one big root. Took forever for water to absorb. I would just watch it sink…slowly.

Automation sounds great. Freedom! I don’t like to leave my tent unattended but I’m notoriously worrisome. :+1:

Right? Makes you wonder where the coco/soil went. Lol

It was always automated, but previously I had only 1-3 days before reservoirs had to be refilled and runoff catch bins had to be dumped almost daily. Was a huge pain in the ass. My new reservoirs gives me over a week and the runoff gets magically pumped away. I still check on em daily and have sensors, alerts and even cameras to check on em when I’m away. Life is good. Lol.

Good to see you back man, I was thinking this morning I wonder what Tev is up this year outside in the garden lol.

Great to see you back Trevor! Pretty cool just a bump up in pot size made all the difference.

Taking another break this year with the outdoor. Tired of sacrificing all my summer fun to look after all these huge plants only to get disappointed in the fall with bugs, rot and mildew. Plus having to quarantine all my clothing and showering when going between grows became a pain in the ass too.

My bed is full of weeds I keep meaning to tarp it off but I doubt I’ll even use it anytime soon.

I was thinking off doing a few autos, but looking to put the house on the market in July if I can keep up the work load, so I am not bothering either.

Good to see you back Trevor!

That 3L plant must be mostly wood in that pot …
2~3 gallon pots should give you some needed breathing room for sure.

Looking forward to watching your grow this year. :+1:

Glad to see you back my friend, glad to hear things are going well.

Hey TrevorLahey,
Nice YT!!
Have you considered installing the drain tube in the center of the tote, then position the pots so their weight forces the center to sag?
Or maybe, a grommet, and slide a tube down to the lower area.
If you drill holes in wheel pockets (sideways like) fluid can drain out.
I did so with my tubs, the hand depression inside the tub held, and stagnated a bit of juice.
Sorry just spit balling ideas.

Day 64 on the flowering plants, they are doing pretty damn good in these larger pots.

This tent has the Wedding Glue(left) and Ghost Rose (right). I defoliated them about a week ago, and am now running my dehumidifier since things are getting thick, quick.

In the other tent is the (Red Poison x Cookie Devil) x Dark Spark that despite having a pretty airy bud structure, looks like it’s going to have a ton of frosty bud.

I moved the Wedding Cake auto into it’s own tent, it was a really late bloomer but is finally flowering out, looks like it’s going to be a decent plant too.

Then back in the bridgelux tent I have my younglings which are about 25 days old. They had a couple rough days where their leaves were burning up, I had a hunch they were “overwatered” but instead of letting em dry out like most people do I decided to increase their fertigation frequency from 2x10 second waterings a day to 6x10 seconds, essentially force-feeding them new dissolved oxygen molecules and the problem pretty much resolved overnight. I know it sounds counterproductive to do this, but I keep testing this theory with “drowned” or “overwatered” plants and it seems to be the best way in my system to resolve the issue.

I’ve been in rough shape, about a month ago I had an accident that resulted in a pinched nerve and herniated disc in my neck. I’m having a lot of mobility issues, even lifting a half gallon pitcher of water in the grow has become impossible, not to mention the agony of going down the basement stairs to do it in the first place. 33 days in and the symptoms keep getting worse every day. It feels like I’m never going to get better.

So while I’m looking forward to harvest, I don’t even know how I’m going to manage trimming all this bud in my condition! Lol.

Sorry to hear that Trevor, having the same issue for the last 7 years now, I know what it’s like.

The only thing that works for me is reducing what I am doing and resting more between doing stuff in a reclined position. It’s hard when you have been very active and there is stuff to do, but you just have to ignore it and pace yourself otherwise it will just get worse and you are forced to stop from the pain anyway.

The other option’s that I was offered were opiates for stopping the pain better but that just allows you to make the condition worse because you will do more and a agravate it further.

Or there is surgery, the one they want me to have is pretty scary and will be the last resort, but by doing the do a little, rest a while, do some more, strategy, I stabilized my condition, which is all 5 disks herniated and pressing into my spinal cord, about 2 years ago.

The other thing I have found that helps is fasting believe it or not. When you fast your body goes into apothagy and produces macrophages that hunt out damaged cells and recycles them for food/energy.

Then they are replaced with new healthy cells when you start eating again. Your body also produces much larger quantities of growth hormone, which repairs the damage faster but it’s still a slow process.

I hate trimming because it really agravates my neck and why I switched over to a perpetual harvest every 5 weeks, but with less plants so there is less trimming to he done at a time.

Ouch, plants looking good, but I feel the back pain.

Have you been to a chiro? They do adjustments no insurance like 75-150$US or if you have insurance even cheaper. I am tall and had growing pains alot when younger, I think they work magic.

Yoga is one of the best practices I have found for keeping my spine strong as well, DDP(yes, the former wrestler) has an amazing business with his form of Yoga, and he has videos and movements for people that are basically bedridden even. Can probably find his videos online for free somewhere.

Hope you feel better soon!

Yep, pretty much exactly what the PT said. Well she wants me to increase activity but spend twice as long horizontal as vertical until my symptoms start to improve.

Already taking them as needed when the pain becomes too much.

They told me if I’m not seeing any relief within the next 2 weeks they will explore options such as nerve blocks or further.

I believe it. I fast 16/8 for six days a week, with a 24hr fast once a week. It’s done wonders for my health in other ways, and I’ve lost so much weight it’s insane. I think that’s what has me so depressed about all of this. I was finally making some positive changes in my life, body and soul, and it seemed I was about to finally get my life back on track when this happened. Now it feels like everything has been put on hold indefinitely and it’s just heart-wrenching.

I actually thought one of those would be helpful but my PT advises against it. Currently I do my own traction with either a towel or by hand, and she does it by hand when I go to the clinic.

I’m seeing one of the best sports physiotherapists in the country. Works out to about $90CAD per visit. No insurance, no income, no way to make dough with a broken neck… sucks.

I’ve kinda followed the DDP story for a while and have been interested in trying yoga but also need to be careful when my I jury is so fresh that I don’t do movements that could make my condition worse.
