I found a tiny bit of pollen on the waxed paper tonight, and decided to go for it. Dipped my finger in it and smeared it on the tips of two lower branches that were full of fertile looking pistils. I will do it again as I find more pollen.
So, now we wait and see if the ~magic~ happens. I’m hoping that the white rhino will be a good match for QAR.
I fully understand, and I am hopeful that this particular cross will be an improvement, rather than a detriment. I intend to hit a couple of lower branches on each of the girls, and intend to give most of the seeds away on here. I am going to keep a few for myself, but hopefully I can make enough to share.
The pollen is just starting to drop, so I think I’ll have plenty to dust with.
Sorry for the formulation, it was mostly to highlight my opinion enough and to convince you to use the WR as top priority ^^
I will be very happy to be have four little tents totally dedicated to the “homemade” releases of OG, and to make dedicated and accurate strain sheets + smoke reports. In all honesty and because I think it’s now important for this community at this point. But i don’t have this opportunity for now.
I decided to rig something up so I could collect pollen from the main plant. Someone said that he kinda looks like a dragon in one of the photos, so I’m gonna name him Draco. Maybe I can keep him alive as a houseplant.
As you can see, it’s just a cone of waxed paper tied around the bottom with floral wire, and a band of Saran Wrap to help keep anything from spilling. When he’s done, I can tip him over and carefully remove it over a plate of glass or something.
This stupid simple collection rig for branches is working well. I already have a little pile of pollen in there, and it only just started opening yesterday (on the full moon!).
I have crossed him to a IBL White Rhino, a MMXX from Twenty20, and a Poison Daddy F2. I might go ahead and seed all the rest of them too, I am not sure yet.
@Hippiechik . That male mutant plant is the most wonderous thing I have seen. How did it turn out? Did you get any seeds or pollen from it? Truely amazing!
