I will probably get a lot of disagreement on this, but I have found these cheapo moisture meters to be very accurate and helpful.

I do think you’re right, it’s bit much runoff but I’ve never had an overwater issue with this way of doing it, I clean the drain trays immediately. I do think it was a nitrogen buildup caught quick tho. I flushed em yesterday they immediately got happy. Fed them a bit of a weaker dose today and they look great like there wasn’t an issue. I would look more into doing less like you’re saying but I’ve been trying to get into organics and switch over for some reasons so my focus now is learning soil and not overwatering after years of just 50/50 coco perlite for inside
