@shag For someone who didnāt have Ambi controls, and LH rifles available at the time, RH controls are just natural to me.
The industry as a whole over the last 25 years is starting to cater to the LH market more, but Iām still an Old School LH shooter stuck with RH rifles, LOL
Oh I get it bro.
The whole muscle memory thing.
Left eye dominant shooting with the gun in your left hand correct?
For paintball I had to learn to shoot with my left hand.
I am right eye dominant and right handed.
It took some time but I learned to do it with some of the best.
I doubt I could shoot a rifle long range left handed well, but I bet urban warfare style and a short barrel I think I would do well.
I do think there is an advantage to that as your profile is made smaller if the gun is in your left hand shooting out the left side of cover.
But the bottom line is ā¦can you hit the target and how quickly can you do itā¦in paintball anywayā¦
The asian guy (Tim) at the begining is a friend of mine and was on the team I started.
These are they guys I played with many years ago.
Did all my hunting and shooting with right handers 30-06 for deer, 338 winchester super mag ruger 10/22 for plinking, and of course righty arās. Not much has changed on my ar except the brass just ejects out the left side. Charging handle is still ambi, i put a troy ambi mag release on it and it still retains the right handed release, and the bolt catch is just on the left.
I need a gunā¦ never owned one but feeling the need now. Preference, .357
and rifle, M! carbine. yeah, old school stuff. Used to go shooting my Dadās guns and loved the M1. Accurate as hell, especially in my wifeās hands, she hit every target of metal gongs and bells at the KSC outdoor shooting rangeā¦ then shot his .44 mag and did the same thing. respect that girl.
No doubt, what a womanā¦
Does she got a sisterā¦
I like what I see there , got your bases covered
Wellā¦I didnāt get the little chiappa takedown xtreme for $300. I put an ad up on gunpost and got a nice fellow offering a ruger takedown 10/22 brand new for $200. Heās shipping it today.
So paying less cash for more gun. I like that it still disassembles and like that itās more than single shot. Will take pics when it arrives.
I have the same rifle with a synthetic stock and suppressor for varmint shooting. Absolutely love it, very reliable and with the suppressor and sub sonic rounds itās quieter than my pellet rifle. Hope you enjoy it.
yeah i always wanted one of the takedowns . my buddy has the big brother the 9mm version
Wellā¦as it turns out it was a scamā¦lol. cost me $200 to find out I should know a few things about shipping a rifle across the countryā¦lol.
On to the next one!
I did a reverse Google search on all the pics he sent and everything. He used a fake account replicating an account that had really good reviews. Dāoh.
that really sucks , Iām sorry to hear that happened to you
Could have been worse. $200 is shittyā¦but a good lesson.
It was from the gunpost ad siteā¦for whatever the hell reason, they post your phone number once you activate your accountā¦you have to go in and manually disable thatā¦kind of bullshit
For that price, you could get a Chey-Tac Intervention and maybe even have enough money left over to buy a few rounds for it.
If you do get a PCC, your best bet would be to run +P ammo in it. That extra barrel length will let you squeeze more performance out of hotter loads. A long gun and sidearm that both take the same ammo and even mags is a good loadout, logistically.
The M14 is arguably the best battle rifle ever made by any country, at any time. When I was deployed, we put some M14s back into service. Iām an AR guy, but Iād carry an M14 into the Zombie Apocalypse without complaint.
That .338 Federal is one hell of a round. The way things are progressing, it might not be long until you can get full power .338 Lapua performance from a .338 federal cartridge. The US Army is looking or field a new rifle in 6.8 x 51. The casing is a composite of brass and a steel face, allowing for more chamber pressure. Itās designed to get the same ballistics from it 13-inch barrel from a longer one.
Weāre entering a golden age of firearms. MOA accuracy is the standard for a lot of rifles, whereas it used to cost a bit more for that guarantee. It wonāt be long until you can get .357 Magnum ballistics from a 9mm or .380, 30-06 ballistics from a 7.62 x 39, etc.
I never heard of that gun before you mentioned it, thanks!
What a beast of a gun it is.
In case anyone else is wonderingā¦
That loose mag is a deal-breaker. For that price, it better function flawlessly every single time.
I have always had an affinity for the M14 rifle.
When I was younger my parents dragged us to church every sunday and sent us to youth group one evening every weekā¦ our youth pastor served in vietnam and moved to canada after he married a girl from here. Anyways, he had all kinds of military memorabilia and pictures from his service days. He was also a hunter and target shooter and showed some of us boys the gun collection and took some of us to the shooting range a few times. He had an m14 which he must have bought in Canada although I canāt be sure. It was over 30 years ago now. LOL It was a heavy rifle but man did it shoot the lights out. I grew up always wanting one and have a cool miliary firearms book my gramps gave me in my late teens with a picture of a national match trw m14 with the Saco-lowell heavy NM barrel and a big fat light colored laminate stockā¦ thing of beauty. These days I have all the tooling required to build them from the receiver up , cut chambers in match barrels, perform all the national match modsā¦ but sadly the rifle was arbitrarily banned on May 1st 2020. They sit locked up in the gun vault , serving no purpose other than to make me feel sad LOL
Got kind of the best of both worldsā¦I wanted a takedown rifle for long hikes and bush camping. But also wanted something with more than single shot.
Cabellas had a better price than anything I could find online, so did the deed.
Good enough for nowā¦should be here next week.
