Awesome pic, I could watch that work for hours, but never ever do it. Hats off.
It’s definitely different and every day is a new day so boredom is at a minimum to say the least, that and knowing your one idiot rigging something wrong from taking a hell of a ride lol
i did construction for the past decade, but i’m tired of working outdoors and breaking my back/knees making someone else rich so i’m making a career change … starting a 2 year college course in the fall for computer programming… ultimately i want to be able to freelance from home so i can earn mucho EUR or USD while living in eastern europe or south asia where cost of living is next to nothing
Water quality service tech and certified water operator. Comes in handy when doing this. I have all the testing equipment and meters plus vast knowledge for water chemistry.
I hope you at least like programming… everyone I knew in undergrad that was in it for just the money, never made it to graduation.
I also hope you like paperwork and bureaucracy, because there is a lot of that too. I do get to work from home one or two days a week, but I’m not on an exotic beach.
Best of luck bro, hit me up if you have any questions on your homework.
i do enjoy problem solving and making things work. i wish i would have learned to program when i was a wee lad, i wrote my own tintin script for the MUD i played.
i do also enjoy languages in general. i want to learn every language (incl. sign language and programming languages)
the course outline says it covers java, C#, python, sql, ASP, etc
I love programming. Logic and math are my jam. Actually got into it because of a video game (Starcraft) too.
how did it apply to starcraft? writing macros and stuff? i was trying to get my daughter in to it with roblox because you can make your own levels and code them in lua
There was a private server I found. But they only released it as source code. Took a class to learn how to compile it and fell in love.
This is almost how I got into programming, but was for private runescape servers back in early 2000s. Im glad im not writing (as much) java these days though
I work at law firm as a researcher/legal assistant as well as the facilities manager for our entire building.
I also hold my real estate license and sell a house or two on the side here and there.
Late 70s. COBOL was all the rage.
Here’s one of the beast my code ran on. It was the model 90/80.
Vs9. On the bleeding edge of “virtual memory”.
Damn, sounds like youre a busy man👍
I stay pretty busy.
Currently I am trying to convince the firm to set everyone up to work remotely in the event of a mandatory quarantine type of situation.
It has proven to be a difficult task. Slightly worried about what my financial situation could look like going forward if we are unable to work
Right on.
Maybe you could explain what the half-life of chlorine in water is and how it affects the water structure. Most cities don’t use only chlorine and that makes removing it a lot tougher to accomplish.
There are still many people who believe chlorine will dissipate from tap water if left open for a day or two.
It is a good idea, better to be proactive thrn to ride the ship down… My state just shut down all restraunts gyms and just about anything else where people congregate… im out of work now bc of the craziness but luckily my employer and contract are very generous so shouldnt have to go without pay…
I’m one of them, this is the first I’m hearing otherwise. Soooo according to a quick google search, half life of chlorine in water is two months?
Chloramines (commonly used today) can potentially last longer. Your local muni should be able to tell you what they do for disinfection. Do a similar search on the chloramine half-life.

Couple years ago an article in our paper described a multi-million dollar plan to bring our water purification up to EPA standards, but the deal fell thru. (True story)
I’m pretty sure my now town just has a giant quartz purification crystal. As long as they soak it in moonlight every third lunar eclipse, it kills any human pathogens in our water supply.
