That’s amazing! All of the soil that I amended this last fall is holding up beautifully. All of those macadamia nut shells I put in the veggie patch is making for some good drainage. There’s also like a jillion bulbs popping up in my flower beds and cutting garden. Everything in the ground seems to be thriving in this stuff. The container plants?..not so much lol
Last time it rained like this Cali had what they called a “Super Bloom” that Spring! It was really pretty! Hoping for another year like that!
That’s so great! You never find cool stuff like that around here! I wish more people farmed and gardened, but you know…city life. Most people don’t have yards here. So fortunate that I do. My neighborhood is really old and rare here. We have double lots on every block, but we are only zoned for 1 Residence. So it’s all houses with huge lots. Luck of the Irish over here.
I thought about collecting, pretty cool how much people can save. But my city water is really good and pretty much free; last bill I think it was $350 per year, they bill on my property taxes, and we have no meters…
A good friend of mine moved to San Diego. He pays that each month, in US dollars. Worth it for him to collect if it ever rains!
Ouch that hurts ! Tell him to work on his soil profile! I water my grass as little as possible don’t think I watered heavy more than 6-8 times last year and only spotty watering when really needed in areas!
Not only that, but your mj plants and your wife’s veggie patch in the summer would love it! Although you got to love the socialist beauty of Canada. Can I have your water bill instead of mine and your water quality, Please?
I currently have perennial herbs, like sage, rosemary, oregano, bay etc and bare fruit trees waiting to start growing again. They are joined by a winter crop of onion alongside the garlic and some spring greens. Rhubarb is just showing signs of still being alive.
There are two hardy lemongrass plants in the polytunnel.
I am looking forward to the end of Feb when I can plant some early peppers indoors and get ready for the march madness of seeds in the polytunnel.
In the meantime I am scraping off the grass to make beds at the new allotment, covering them with leaf mould and manure, and planting clover as a cover crop in preparation for later in the year.
I recommend African Violets to anyone who can’t leave their Cannabis the fuck alone, because they are fussy. They are also crazy rewarding and instant gratification if you get them right. They will bust out a million flowers once you make them happy.
We have a super early spring here. My peppers and tomatoes seeds have already sprouted in the greenhouse along with other herbs and flowers (shit loads of flowers). Outdoors, I’ve already got sweet peas growing (they are already almost reaching the trellis) and green onions barely sprouting now. I can not freaking wait for spring!
