Hey guys if you have to light a 3x3 for veg and you only have two options for lights, a Hlg 300 rspec or 2 mars hydro ts600 which would you choose?
Ts 600 is my choice
Why do you only have those two choices? What is the temp of the room you plan to grow in? I realized after a couple years that CMH works MUCH better for my climate here in New England. I couldn’t keep my mom’s happy under LED without a heater.
I’d opt for one TSW2000
I realize that wasn’t the question so I’d go with HLG, because the two TS600s are gona be tough to use to cover a square space.
My HLG100 does a 2x2 no problem.
Hlg hands down really nice quality should veg a 3x3 real nice
I have the TS600 and it’s what made me positive that I needed a bar fixture. The lack of dimmability was also inconvenient for veg stage, haven’t used it in flower.
I had a ts600 and I’m just not a fan of it at all literally gave it away. Just didn’t work for me. It’s on or off full blast light or nothing not to mention the footprint is almost as small as the light. I used it to fill a 1x4 gap and it hardly produced enough light for what was under it. Thankfully it was just additional lighting so I wouldn’t have a dark spot but I don’t think id buy any of the marshydro ts series lights if I had another go around and I’ve bought 3 now. 2 ts3000’s and one ts600. HLG is the way to go if your asking me. Yes it’s more expensive but your gonna want to upgrade the ts600 as soon as you see the lack of features
FWIW, a single TS600 will sufficiently veg a 2.5’x2.5’area, and will baaaarely flower a 1.5’x1.5’ space
Thanks guys,
I’m going to run the hlg 300, the mars hydro and hlg is gear I have on hand, I wasn’t sure of vegging with the hlg because it’s primarily a flowering light, however it’s advertised as full spectrum so we’ll see how it goes.
Spend the extra $30 and get the Mars ts1000…you won’t regret it…if you get the ts600…you will regret it.
Between MarsHydro and HLG the quality win goes to HLG hands down, but I don’t recommend vegging under an RSpec unless you like leggy plants… the lack of blue spectrum will make them streeeeetch in veg.
I veg under an rspec and a bspec board, combined maybe 90w total. Everything grows fine. Seems the plants mostly prefer the rspec to the bspec actually and I wouldn’t say they’re any leggier.
That’s really interesting to me. I’ve done 2 full runs (veg/flower) under the rspec, and now one veg cycle under the bspec and my sense has been that the plants stay much more compact. Even to the point of thinking the veg cycle was taking longer than usual.
I acknowledge my evidence is anecdotal and I’ll yield to the greater experience level.l until I have more data points.
Edit: lol. Maybe I’m just trying to justify owning a bspec and an rspec
