What's going on with these leaves?

From left to right, leaves taken from the lowest part of the plant all the way to maybe 3/4 from the top. Is this a toxicity working it’s way up the plant or a deficiency working its way up?

Thanks!

When’s the last time you gave it nitrogen?

This showed up a few days after I topped dressed a second time with a blend of dry amendments following the build-a-soil craft blend recipe:

  • Kelp Meal
  • Karanja Cake
  • Alfalfa Meal
  • CalPhos (omitted bc I couldn’t find this)
  • Camelina Meal (omitted bc I couldn’t find this)
  • Crustacean Meal
  • Fish Meal
  • 3x Fish Bone Meal
  • Soybean Meal
  • Sul-Po-Mag (Also Known as K-Mag or Langbeinite)
  • Organic Malted Barley
  • Premium Calcium Montmorillonite (omitted bc I couldn’t find this)
  • Micronized Basalt
  • Gypsum
  • Oyster Flour

Maybe it’s time to water in a soluble soy based amino acid product for nitrogen.

I know very little about soil building of this nature but it sure looks like they want nitrogen to me.

How long have you made this soil mix?

The soil is Stepwell Super Soil. It’s a pre-blended soil I’ve used in 3-4 grows now and works quite well. This is the first time I’ve amended this soil to keep up with the demands of a larger plant by top dressing with the blend of those ingredients listed above. I sprinkled maybe 1 cup or less on a 30 gallon pot.

Make a compost tea it will work quicker then top dressing

I also feed a compost tea weekly with castings, organic molasses, EM1, 1/4 c alfalfa meal, 1 tsp humic acid granules, 1 tsp kelp flour. Sometimes I add in insect frass and fish bone meal or liquid fish fertilizer.

Would really appreciate a picture of the affected plant…if this started in the lower canopy and is now kind of randomly moving up through the foliage you MAY have a Alternaria infection moving in. Yellow leaf #3 (left to right) shows necrotic margin lesions…green leaves (5-6) show very typical Alternaria symptoms…

FWIW you can often differentiate fungi infections from nutrient issues by the yellow ‘haloing’. Very easy to see the ‘haloing’ on your green leaves… You can search Alternaria in Cannabis or go to my website BudBusterPro.net for some actual photos of affected plants last fall. Been accused of ‘spaming’ so I’m not sure I can give website info…sorry if I crossed a line here

Hey @BudBusterPro… You can check out a pic of my plants in my grow log found here: Growing Up North North (incorporating Bokashi Composting tech) - #47 by NorthNorthNugs

Going to upload some pics I just took right now.

Here’s a few I just took. Went to go check on the plants and found some more yellowing leaves that weren’t there as off about 8hrs ago:

I searched and will keep an eye out for those black spots as I’m not really seeing any on the plant. Also it seems to be a lot less random than thought and shooting up in one main area on the plant. Thanks for chiming in though, I will research this topic and keep an eye on the plant.

You will get a much better answer if you show us a photo of the entire plant. It may be nothing. Older leaves fade and fall on most plants. Without seeing the plant there is no way to say. If it is nitrogen def and you are in a living soil, soy or fish aminos like you stated is where you want to start as that nitrogen is instantly available to the plant.

Thank you… I’ll post a pic of the plant asap.

If I had to guess, I would say N deficiency.

If you don’t want to guess, get a soil test done. That should tell you what is missing or out of proportion.

Agree with N, after seeing all the food available for the plant I would go for pH too low and plant not able to process it … beer3|nullxnull

I agree but would need to see the whole plant not just the leaves…is it in flower?

Thanks for the help everyone.

I’ve plucked off most of the yellowing leaves. You can still see some on the plant though in the pics. I believe it also to be a N deficiency as I’m not seeing any black spotting that comes with Alternaria.

Going to feed a Soluble Soy Amino and see what happens. Really appreciate all the responses from this great community!

Is it only the large fan leaves turning color? I don’t personally see any real issues in these photos. Your plants look great otherwise.
