When is day 1 of flower? 12-12 pistils or Bud

Im trying to pin down my harvest window.
They vegged for 30 days. They have been under 12/12 since 3/29.
They WERE NOT mature until week 4 for the most part.
But lost power on day 25. 4/23
17 days later pistils appeared. 5/10
3-4 days later the buds appeared.5/13-5/14

Ok. So that makes it 3 wks(28) since power loss. 6.5 wks since the flip.(45-46)

So if i count from 4/23 and assume 8(6/18)-12(7/16)weeks. That doesnt seem right. That would put me @ 45 days. But:
If i count from when pistils appeared(which was 17 days after power loss. Which im using as Day 1 of Uninterrupted power loss. That puts me at 4 weeks even today.

Its day 70 since flip today. 70 - 25 = 45.
6wks old been budding for four.

Bagseed. hybrid. Indica dominant.

When is your day 1? Is my ultimate question.

I count my day 1 towards flower time when I see a pistils… Everyone has their own way… if it has pistils before the flip and then I put in 12/12, that is day one… otherwise it may be in 12/12 a week or more before showing pistils and I’m not counting that as flower time…in flower light yes, flowering no.

I’d stick with the much less confusing 4 wks theory than the 8 wks+… weird.

I just play hear games with myself and when am in a hurry I count from pistils but when I’m not in a rush I count from flip. As long as you get a handle on when they are done it doesn’t matter.

I count from when I put them to 12/12. But I also wait until they show sex before I move to 12/12 tho. The plant has to be sexually mature for it to flower. For the ones that aren’t I’d start their count from when you first see it with Male or lady parts.

So to further the question, when you read about a strain and they say 8 - 10 weeks, is that from 12/12 or from pistols?

I myself dont really count weeks. When i notice the bud formation slow down i start looking for milky and amber trichs.

They usually underrate it so if you are going by that I would count from pistol

I consider the day after switching to a flowering light schedule to be the first day of flowering. That way it is 100% consistent, and is not influenced by any of the other factors that might affect another way of specifying what day one is.

Having said that, I don’t really care about how long the flower stage is except as a very loose and not particularly useful comparison between different strains.

Sure this was yesterday. Both plants are 2 days apart. But both were in when the light schedule tripped.

Heres the mom flowering at 69 days since the flip(44 days since power outage) (23days since buds appeared so i have no idea as to when to expect harvest. 99 days since sprout. So week 10 of flower. [image] [image] Here is the clone @ Day 5F vegged for 21 days. [image] And here the other lanky pheno. All branches have 3 leaves. Some have leaf nubs if u want to count then max of 5 leaves. Either it’s a long flowering plants or you have light leaks causing not only the odd leaf blade count aka reveg leaves but also the suspended state of the plant

Day 1 of flower is when you initiate 12 hours of darkness like another member said. What he left out though is the hormones start to distribute in the plant that same day 12/12, 11/13 etc is initiated. If you count from when pistils come out, that is incorrect.

The 1st day of flower is when it starts showing its flowers ie first pistil! It’s not rocket science
