Where do u source your insect frass?

I did, prices just aren’t as favorable as I was hoping, thinking SeaMonkey is onto something with hitting up the pet stores

Have you considered raising your own crickets?

Probably cheaper to buy the crickets and grind em up, just put em in a blender or food processor and boom instant frass. I probably wouldn’t use it for anything else after that though :joy: but you can usually find them at a goodwill or Salvation Army for like $5

Yummy

I haven’t actually used this stuff yet, but thought about it many many times. The smell definitely puts me off. So dry it, grind it I get, but do I just add to soil and plant? Or should I compost this stuff a bit. Growing in containers indoors.

@AzSeaindooin420 any chance I can get that tea recipe?

Twice a week if I volunteer to clean the crickets at work :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:. Though there are many times that they’re mushy on the bottom from too many dying or if the water crystals get spilled. Last summer I brought a bunch home and tried to sun dry a pile of them in a container. But instead of drying out, it became a container of maggots . I’ll try laying it out on a tray again (blew away last year), but covering with a screen so they don’t just blow away

Could always throw em on a dehydrator in a garage where u won’t smell em lol

Would these moths and such be of any use for fermenting or anything else

I just put this bucket up yesterday just to see. and already got quite a bit. I guess insect frass would be poop from insects just wasn’t sure if moths and such have chitin or anything beneficial for plants

Actually I found a site that gives a little info on the subject

Looks like a good source of nitrogen if nothing else
