The 89 NL#5 is a good plant (depending on pheno), great smell, great calyx development and some phenos can finish @ week 7 or 8 on the dot.
I only have 4 females to base off of, but I also have an 89 NL#5 male that I will use to create more seeds so I can hunt thru. As of now #5 isn’t as strong as my Old school Hashplant. Maybe I should use the NL5 male on the Hashplant female.

i would say to look for the nld-types so probably try BC Seed Co… thier verison is the NLD taller type. like the ones seen in the original SOG videos… he was growing 5x2 and u can see which ones leans towards the nld 5…
joeyweed also…

Shanti’s nl/af is true and throws consistent nld-type 5’s… i would look there as well for a piney pheno…
the ortega 5/1 will be sweet… Nirvana’s is derived from the 5x2; it sweet…

I just gave away a bunch of northern lights… there may be piney ones in those, they are pacNW x dutch sweet one… but i didnt see any when i ran the f1… sweet, green flavours prevailed.

the others i have 1, 2, etc. all are varying degrees of sweetness also… fresh green flavours, the most intense is the 2, which is like chewing a stick juiceyfruit gum along with halfstick of doublemint gum. its makes u salivate just to smell it… the 5x2 is the sweetest, its not candy-sweet but pretty sugary for a non-boutique variety… both the 4 and 5 i have are sweet but kind of plain. not much to it…

i would look to british columbia seed company, joey weed and shanti’s nl/af for a pine one… the thinner leafed nothernlights.

im not the best when it comes to articulating flavours… i smell wine and it smells like wine… beer smells like beer to me… something has to be super distinct for me to be like “yeah that smells like____.”

idk wtf juniper berries smell like but, my buddy said our nl is like that. its sweet to me, so idk man… Also i spoke with another dude form my area who says the 1 is like skunky garlic onion, but i never got that… there was another nl1 that was piney that was imported to dallas from Norcal, this was 1994… but agian the 1 that i have from nevil stock is more sweet, if its anything at all… the 5 is the plainest one i have… to me at least… but NL was never about taste. its appeal was the low smell… you could blow out a room and not smell up the block… the power yeild hieght and flwoer time were secondary considerations… but taste didnt even matter. its dank and that was enough… at least thats what it was for us… as long as it was dank as fuck, it sold.

hearing about all these crazy flavours trips me out… i wish i had one that had crazy flavours but mine were and are all utility plants… Hemphill has a paintthinner NL? Dude that’s bad ass! i may have to drop him a line…

here are pix of the NLD-type NL… this would be comparable to BC Seed Co nl5 and i think is where you would find pine… I believe that sweet comes from afghan parentage and anything else that wouldnt normally be categorized as a “sweet” flavour, comes from sativa parentage… and having a pheno express thiner sativa leaves would mean yur looking in the right place…

That’s definitely the most sativa looking NL I’ve seen since some old 90s advertising…I will definitely look into BC seeds nl5 thanks again for all the info Rob

I have OG, Chem, and other “modern” seeds strains, but I prefer old school genetics.

This is one of my NL#5 phenos that has a musky berry jelly kind of smell

Hey a little off subject but curious if you or anyone else has ever seen this in person or know someone who grows it or if this is just a big joke lol

Not.
The avatars for the “reviewers” all look like they were drawn by the same artist and several have been reused.

The business model makes no sense. If they are seeds and they breed true then this would only be sold once. And no one would buy this for that price. If it can be bred it would be everywhere. If it cannot (and cannot be cloned) then when it dies you are SOL.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proofs.

And it’s been out for 6 years they have a couple other crazy price things but not like this…they get good reviews …there was also a strain from the Himalayas where a local guide gave him these seeds while dying and made him promise to keep them pure …idk if half of the descriptions are true Mr BC has lived a wild ride

Meh. Anyone can write a review or 10. My filters go to “bull shit” before they go to “anything is possible”.
We are expected to believe that several people have purchased these at full price and then sold loose seeds for tens of thousands of dollars each. Some, before even growing them out. Yeah, no.

My shorthand wasnt good enough… The Real Bank is called British Columbia Seed Co… im sorry i wasnt clear… i say “bc” instead of british columbia because i thought every knew…
For those of you who dont know, BC Seeds bullshit… this has been an issue since 1999. its most likely Brian Sulkeye still, or one of his cronies. he was a troll way back when the term “troll” was just being coined as a term. AOL days… he would attack people on marihemp and then he started shell sites displayimg seeds and would take money but not send seeds. or send birdseed… This was when u had to send cash in a envelope for seeds, on a wing and a prayer… It could take up to 6wks before you realized you got scammed… he was the most prominent in a wave of scam banks that flooded the north american seed trade in the early 2000’s. It was a mess. One of the reasons why Emery got away with insane markups on dutch gear…emery was legit in a sea of scammers so he price gouged…
The company that has nl5 the one im talking about, same where bodhi got his is called Bristish Columbia Seed Co. … the other one is BC Bud Depot ran by matt which is a legit bank butvthey steal from hobby breeders. BCseeds is a imaginary bank that will steal yur money. it only exists on the internet. bcseeds is not real.
