Why do people say you can't burn plants in organic

I understand it’s less likely, but do people think they can’t over amend their soil or use to much tea or kelp? It’s like saying you can’t get a heart attack or diabetes if you’re only eating organic food, but if you’re eating organic fried, fatty, and sweet foods. Your gonna be at risk like anyone else.

Even water is lethal at high doses

I don’t know anyone that says you can’t burn your plants in organics. Only a fool would say something like that.
Lots of organic inputs will burn your plants.

agree…people talk about compost like it’s god’s gift, collecting their banana peels in a plastic bin. Compost kills! Evil compost releases too much minerals & nutes and kills your plants w/ lockout and there’s no way to control it! It’s like heroin for plants…or fentanyl, you could catch a buzz or your heart could stop

It’s not hard, I can tell you how to do it!  :vulcan_salute:

You’ve never been on other weed forums? I see people say this shit all the time.

There can sometimes be a misconception about organic fertilizers amongst new Growers. Even organic dry fertilizer packages will say the words "won’t burn your plants"on them on occasion. Perhaps the wording should be changed.

I’ve gotten burned tips from too much malted barley. Ever put a seedling in FFOF? It will burn and kill them.

I think when people say that, they’re referencing high N urea-based lawn and garden fertilizers which can burn plants if improperly applied. Easy to overdo concentrated readily available fertilizers, hard to overdo, say, worm castings which are what, 1% N? Commercial formulations for outdoor use also tend to use cheaper forms of nutrients with higher salt indices, like urea instead of nitrate, chlorides like Potassium chloride, etc.

30% N urea based and other high-salt-index fertilizers applied without enough water in too high amounts can easily burn plants in warm dry conditions. You can do the same thing with “organics”, it’s just harder to overdo due to relative concentration and availability. Dog piss will burn grass faster than just about anything and that’s “organic”.

A nice dense crop of clover can push you into nitrogen toxicity, especially in flower.
Compared to hydroponics you have to work at it… but not hard to accomplish.

I have put rooted clones in soil that was my regular grow mix and the clones were not happy for a week or two but came back strong. I figure if my flowering plants leaves have just I teeny amount of yellow on the tips I’m doing OK feeding aerated tea couple times and liquid fish fert all the way through I’m doing OK. Works for me.

I like fish stuff.

Good stuff.

only kidding of course - still using compost! But I had to cut the amount in half.

When I’m top dressing with alfalfa meal I don’t worry about overdoing it. The more I dump on there, the longer it takes to completely break down.

Alfalfa and Kelp would appear to fit the “can’t burn” label. I’ve been told it’s usually animal-based compost & nutes that are more dangerous for burning, the plant-based ones tend to be slow-release.

Alfalfa definitely will burn your plants. I would say that Alfalfa is at the top of the list of inputs that will burn

I can’t say specifically what, but my 100 organic soil I made with healthy amounts of guinea pig manure and pre-manure (Timothy hay), and kelp meal, that’s about it for nitrogen. But I got burnt tips here and there. So either it’s not possible or I forgot I’m not real again.

Hey y’all newbie here, so you’ve talked about the burn (appearance) but what about the most important thing, the taste? I grow TLO, and I made a “T” mistake, lol. I used a Tsp instead of a tsp of high P bat dookie, and man that stuff was harsh! But when I follow directions correctly, TLO best I ever smoked!:older_man::owl::sunglasses:
