Willie's Nectar

Does anyone have any information on Willie’s Nectar?

I’ve had it quite a few times, but never knew what it was.
It doesn’t seem available today as a seed, but i got this over the course of 3 or 4 years in the land of Willie about 20 or more years ago. It was always 60 an eighth, but I thought the potency wasn’t really up the snuff for the price. it was a very fine high though. taste was good too…light, slight honeysickle, but not too notable otherwise.

I have seen several strains named “willie nelson” but never heard of Willie’s Nectar. Willie Nelson is Vietnamese Black crossed with Highland Nepalese.

it was super common at the time. it was definitely some sort of sativa dom hybrid, but it was not just “Willie Nelson”. A guy who setup a brewery in the area, RIP, was the last person i knew grew it…or the last time i had it. it was going around from at least 2000 to 2004 in that area. Coincidentally, I ran into a lot older people in that area that used to hang with Willie a decade or two prior. One guy thought it was funny everyone associated Willie with weed. He was like, ‘I used to hang out with him. That guy was on cocaine all the time. He didn’t actually smoke that much weed.’

The “Willie’s Nectar” was a Marketing Ploy, taking advantage of “Willie’s Reserve”. It was simply Pink Nectar, NOTHING to do with the Strain/Variety “Willie Nelson” which was a renamed Viet Black x Nepalese Highland. He, supposedly, brought the entire Harvest, thus they renamed it in his honor. I have a Pile of original “Willie Nelson” seeds. I have NO INTEREST in Pink Nectar/Willie’s Nectar!! this was before legal weed though…so, that can’t be it.

I frequented Austin (from San Antonio) EVERY weekend. Willie certainly did smoke, and I do mean…SMOKE!! He may have been doin’ the “Nose Candy”, but he sure did do the Reefer. Anyone who hung out on 6th Street from '78 - '83 can attest to that. SS/BW…mister :honeybee: :100:  :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

this old dude, he’s probably passed by now, didn’t say reefer was off the table, just that it wasn’t main course.

There was another strain, Williams Wonder. I always wondered if that was related as well. though, i think it was listed as a strain at European banks. i might have had it once long ago…i recall it as an afghan type bud, but it wasn’t remarkable. i had it more recently as a cross in red headed stranger which was pretty good bud.

That “Red Headed Stranger” was, indeed, good bud. It’s effect seemed to linger more so than an Afghan-type. SS/BW…mister :honeybee: :100:  :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Viet Black x Nepalese Highland!!!

Now that’s something to be looking for:)…the one @misterbee is talking about

But you have an old favorite that you want back in your life…keep hunting and like your doing here…it never hurts to ask and reach out… otherwise I’d be nowhere:)

Hope you find it or something relatively close… hopefully you were smoking Willie Nelson and didn’t know it. Don’t know until you try … keep it up

Happy happy joy joy all you OG’RS

i have heard of the what you guys are talking about, but I don’t think that is it. no one I knew was so adventurous as to grow such long flowering sativas. this wasn’t like that…it wasn’t really topshelf bud either. it was nice though. pleasant high. i just never had enough of it to get super high. eighths of it were 60, so quantities were limited.
