Would anyone listen to an OG based podcast-TheOGBudCast

Brother. Honestly. This is a project to stop me cracking up whilst I’m being told to rest my back. Its nearly a 2 year old injury but its giving me more grief than ever. So many people see big spending. I see taking care of mental health as silly as it sounds.

I swear me and you must have crossed paths. Theres been a few I’ve been to over rivington barn way with some Bolton/wigan kids years ago. I’ve got videos of me DJing during lockdown a mates funeral. Nothing special just 2 x 1000w citronic C subs and 2 JBL tops. You’ve never seen the police leave a place so fast :joy:

Gash! I’m fucking jealous mate, Buxton I’ve been to plenty. Gash was a few years before my time maybe 1 or 2. Does Mendez, pick n mix, darg sounds, dropjaw ring a bell?

Just taking the piss

Yeah been to a fair few gash nights. My mate cally is Fabiens BM. All of the above ring a bell :sunglasses: there was a pick n mix and mendez night years back that we went to
Gash/madhatters Halloween party at the big western in moss side was fucking epic the ticket was half a clothes peg :joy:. My hard nut mate yellow bricked it when he watched all the whalley range kids robbing people. Spoke to a dukinfield kid called Charlie Brunswick and had no problems at all :upside_down_face:

Very cool idea.

From a thematic/programming standpoint, it might make sense to start with a 30,000ft view of what OG does. Preservation, increase, distribution, breeding, teaching, etc.

I can imagine several areas;

  • The Freaker’s work could be a source of an extensive and ongoing conversation that could be revisited many times;

  • The Co-op distro team could/should be given plenty of time;

  • Any breeder represented extensively on the site with a dedicated thread (Bodhi being the obvious example) might be represented, not necessarily with the given breeder involved (that would be cool too) but discussions of cultivars and lines grown and worked by OGers could be useful, and perhaps conceived as an extension of or complement to some of the deeper threads;

  • Some projects and their threads turn into amazing stories, the Goji Og crowdsource preservation run comes to mind, as does the (sorry everyone) GG4RIL group buy (admit it, it’s a great story!). This sort of thing might benefit from some kind of compositional frame, maybe borrowing some documentary strategies.

  • Some members have taken a deep dive into particular cultivars, and hearing a seasoned grower/breeder talk through their experiences of “learning how to learn” about genetics, hands on, could be incredibly enlightening.

Just some thoughts as to how a podcast might be shaped around the work done on OG.

I really like the idea of the initial overview. I think episode one may be titled “the view from above”

There are many stories on here worth telling. And I like the idea of doing that documentary style :sunglasses:
I’m still loving the idea mentioned earlier of a live Q&A using discord as a means for members to ask questions. We would just have to have a dedicated time to record set up so anyone who wanted to participate could.

The co op runs will always be a good subject to chat about.

Educational features preferably with guests for the likes of making CS/STS reversals. Extracts. Lights. Creating autoflower strains from photo period plants. Etc.

You have good thoughts about how a podcast should be shaped. What you got cooking up elsewhere on OG bro any work I can take a look at?

Britcom is far superior to most of our offerings. Mostly.

Yeah, this is a good idea. Also, I think it would be interesting to learn more about our most active members. Put them in the spotlight for an hour or two.

Pz :v:t2:

it was an epidemic in the uk about 10 years ago. people taking these loans out to go party for a single night and ruining their lives. crazy shit.

it has also been happening here in the usa since regulations were relaxed i want to say around that time or just after.

This brings a tear to my eye - it’s always astonishing how the English language, crafted so elegantly by the Brits, becomes transformed into such transcendent beauty (unlike our clunky North American drivel)…

…truly “breathtaking.”

Agreed. And a big takeaway for me was the length of time that words appear on the screen and how quickly you are meant to read them. Brits are expected to read and comprehend quickly. American words on screen stay up there much longer.

Canada is somewhere in the middle.

Yea, the possibilities are wide open, and the “View from Above” as a starting point makes total sense. If you are familiar with somewhat traditional radio fare like “Radiolab” or “This American Life” they use the kind of format that intermixes interviews and POV’s within a kind of contextualizing expositional frame. This is really labor intensive (the sound design in particular), as opposed to the somewhat thematized running conversational model we see with FCP, The Potcast and other awesome programming. An identifiable “vibe” and “style” should probably be established from a branding standpoint, but being able to pivot methodologically has a lot of benefit too.

On the whole I’m pretty quiet around here (except when I’m not…), and stick mainly to DMs, but there are a few pics around, and a few more on a couple other forums where my handle is “Jaggedgardengenetics” (Mr.Nice and Z-labs mostly).

There is so much going on here that the problem will likely be choosing what not to get into.
