Yellowing New Growth?

What’s your opinion on this yellowing new growth? The plant has been in coast of Maine stonington blend for about a week now. Nothing else added to the soil.

I would go for Iron deficiency maybe because pH being too high … icon_eek|nullxnull

Gonna need more information.
What’s the history from seed?

If it didn’t start outside and then went outside, that could be a factor… Light tox is a real thing lol…

Also, then by the info given I’d have to ask what your pH is going in cuz even in soil, pH can be problematic and also I’d tell you to probably feed it something …

Might wanna tread lightly there. In my experience that soil is rich, heavy, and hot. If you drop a plant that isn’t ready into it, they end up looking like they got punched in the nose.
Great if the transplants are hungry and rip roaring ready to go, not so good if they’re just kinda puttin along.
I’ve started seeds in it before, and yeah, didn’t kill them, but they showed that they weren’t happy about it.

And that could also be the case… Like putting something in ocean forest without cutting some of the heat back… Most places with good to go soil tends to be on the hot side anyway…

Though I’d be expecting more than just the new growth going yellow if too hot was the case

Would also be good to get runoff and check ppm just in case it is in 2000+ range

Its indoor and outdoor. I put it outside for a few hours during the day if its sunny out. I’ve watered it once with 6.5 pH water that had a little Cal mag in it. The proper amount. It’s always been watered with either spring water or rain water that has a 6.5 pH. It also has these tiny brown spots on the new yellow leaves. The ppm thing, I don’t have a way to test it.

How many hours total light?
What light are you using indoor and what is the distance between the top of the plant and the light?
It looks like artificial light burn to me.
The sun doesn’t do that.

I’d start by reducing the power of your indoor light if you can dim it, otherwise move it higher away from the plant.

Maybe it got upset/shocked during the transplant? Or it hasn’t fully acclimated yet to it’s new home? I noticed you said its been in there for about a week now. That’s what came to my mind, because i think I’ve seen some of my transplants do this lol. If I’m wrong, please ignore me lol

I can’t guarantee that this is your problem, but combined with this being a hot soil, the cal mag may have contributed. The manufacturer has a feed plan on their site for using this soil with cannabis, and if I recall correctly they only suggest using their liquid amendments, none of which is cal mag. I would say water only till you clear this hiccup.

Inside to outside could be stressing it out too. I would suggest you pick an environment for it, and keep it there. Going outside to inside can bring some nasty bugs inside too.

I’ve also done the indoor/outdoor switching a lot in the past, with great results.
Also seen the same bleaching when I had my blurple light too close.

The plant started its life outdoor. It was at 16 hours of light. The plant got hurt by my dog he chewed almost all the leaves off of it. It was a very small plant at the time.

They were some seeds I got from some weird guy I know so the genetics are definitely not good. Even though he said they were. I can tell just by looking at the plants they’re not good genetics.

So anyway, I went to the store and bought this bulb so I could bring the plant indoor and bring it back to life. At 16 hours of light. Once I got to this size I repotted it and started bringing it outdoor for about four hours a day. Now the plant is at the same amount of light as the outdoor plants

Once it was repotted and in its new soil for about a week and I started bringing it outside again, I cut the indoor light to the same amount of light as we are getting outdoor here in the Northeast. I did that so I could eventually leave it outside.

It’s about 6 inches away from this bulb and there is no other plants I need to worry about inside as far as bugs go. This little light bulb I got was just a quick temporary cheap thing I tried to use to bring this injured plant back to life.

These little runt plants I have are definitely not producers in any way shape or form. They more or less just learning experience for me. I have another plant that’s in coast of Maine and the Cal mag cleared up a cal mag deficiency I was having on that plant and as soon as it did I stopped using it. Now it’s just plain water.

Over watering, or a pH meter that needs calibrating…?

That light may be small but can still do damage.

Maybe leave it outdoor in the shade for most of the time, for a week, and see what that does?

Whereabouts in the northeast do you live, if you don’t mind my asking? I live in RI and it has been crazy hot and dry this year.

What soil/media and pot size was it in before the transplant?
When did you plant the seed?
And to Lady.Zandra63’s point, what type of ph meter are you using? Have you ever calibrated it? How do you store it? They can be temperamental and lead you all sort of off course.

Also, I agree with Rogue, if you have a sick plant outside, start by putting it in a shadier spot in your yard.

Massachusetts. Just north of Woonsocket. actually. About 20 minutes.

I planted the seed in Botanicare Organicare True Earth in early June. In a small pot. About half the size of a solo cup. The pot it’s in now is I think 2 1/2 quarts

It’s a small plant I don’t expect to get anything out of it if it is a female. I just want to know what this problem is so that if I ever face it in the future I’ll know what it is and how to deal with it.

This is the pH meter. I’ve never calibrated it but it is stored properly. by the directions in the manual.

I have the same meter, I believe in the instructions it states calibrating once a month.
Since I know my well water, and have been probing it for over 20 years, I know when mine is off. AND, it’s off a lot, so I keep a jug of calibration solution, and reset it every couple of months.
Coast Of Maine was once a fine product, then they started to add a stinky petroleum smelling substance, and the last couple of bags, I would not use it on my indoor plants, as the stench filled my mixing area, and that shit went for an outdoor use.
Never will use anything with that stench, myself.
Best of luck with that plant!!

I also have that exact same meter.
When you say stored properly, I assume you mean with the sponge in the cover moistened with a few drops of an appropriate storage solution, but which one did the hydro store sell you? When I bought mine they sold me a bottle of “ph meter storage solution” I think it was Hanna brand. When I used that, the meter lost calibration rapidly, like each time I used it I needed to recalibrate. I did a bit of reading, and settled on using the ph 7 calibration fluid to moisten the sponge, now it is quite a bit more stable. Did you buy that at “Grow it Green” in Bellingham?

You and I live very close to each other. This summer has been an extremely hot and dry one, great for healthy plants that can take the suns energy and use it, a death sentence for plants that are weak or struggling.

I don’t know that I can really diagnose that plant to a specific problem, once a plant gets to a certain point stressors kind of stack up, and getting to the root cause can be difficult.

Do you only grow outdoors?

Yea, I get my stuff at Grow it green. This is the storage liquid they sold me. I also have Blue lab pH adjusting liquid. And yes, outdoor only.

like I said earlier, I got a few seeds from a guy I know who likes to exaggerate A lot. He said they were great seeds from a friend he knows. So I wasn’t holding my breath on the genetics or quality of them.

I didn’t have any seeds at the time so… except for some 20-year-old bag seeds. I still got about 100 of those. (I wonder if I can get them to germinate somehow) I just got some feminized and autos in the mail from BARNEYS and Humboldt so I should have better luck next season.

I got three plants right now. Two of them suck and one’s doing pretty good. It’s small but it’s doing pretty good.
