Hola! Not necessarily. We have a few of the 18% with lots of terps, some mid 20’s with mid terps, and several of the real high testers. Just a guess, but what you might have been seeing is 2:1, 1:1 thc, cbd cultivar. Off the top of my head, I think our Critical mass CBD is like 11% THC and 5-6% CBD.
We have a strain called Vienna Skunk. It yields super crazy and is a really quick finisher. It was testing in the low 20% THC - minimal terps. No one wanted it. We were getting ready to chop it, and low and behold it tested like 29%. Now we can’t keep it on the shelves.
So my intent for this thread was to give people a few ideas of strains that might be really high testers. Obviously, the skill of the grower, environmental conditions, etc, etc play a huge roll in the outcome. But what strains have more of a possibility of hitting those high marks?
So the other day i had a .5 gram pre roll of citrique and it was like 29.7 i think. With a good program you could probably coax the 30s out. I only smoked like half of that too… Shit was powerful and tasted pretty good as well. Best 12 dollars I’ve ever spent on weed
Yeah I forget what it was on. Well,YouTube documentary I think. It was on after a episode of strain hunters. Man I miss Franco he was so much cooler than the other greenhouse dude, he had that heart of gold. They built this gardener in India a nice house, kid was an orphan. The house was on holy land so they weren’t allowed to touch it at all. Too cool!
Arjan comes off as smug, but he was pretty cool…walking around the shop asking people if they were having a good time and giving suggestions of which strains to try. Met Franco on the same trip, dude was solid…was cruising a sweet Ducati around…I always wished I would have asked him what was in his duffle bag…lol
The trees is strong enough. I’m focusing my efforts on the flavor. I want to make a box for curing that is Climate controlled. Have any of you guys built a box specifically for drying and starting the cure?
Lol. That’s awesome. Do you think he would of told you what it was that was in his duffel bag? Probably top secret seeds! It sux how money changes people. Think of a world where there is no money and people just all help their people. Everyone could still do their job and give it to everyone and get everything from others. Bread, juice, pie and such! I wanna start a weed town no cash allowed. That would be cool.
This is a little different than what you are talking about, but I thought it would be interesting in the context of this thread.
One of the licensed farms was testing a new “quick curing system” which cost several grand.
It looked like a digital safe, and it was basically performing an automated burping process by pumping in air, then pumping it out until it created a vacuum, and then pumping in fresh air.
It was supposed to get a batch down to optimal moisture level in just four hours. The main aspect of curing this cannot replicate is time.
I was a little bit skeptical, because it is my understanding that chlorophyll breaks down over time and gradually off-gasses. This process would remove moisture content, but would not decrease chlorophyll content.
Breeders have some testing tools they can use to incease thc/cbd levels, its by using predicative testing on potential keeper cultivars. I know Kevin Jodrey was using it to detect higher thc outliers within his seedling batches a long time ago now. Kev already knows which seedplants will have the highest potential for hot numbers early on. Everything else can be culled. I have heard cbd is more tricky to track down with predicative testing for young seedlings.
I can see if a certain local cannabinoid testing company seems to have higher thc numbers results than the others its only good business to use that company.
Ive also heard that Irie Genetics’ Arise does have legit 30% thc potential within its breed.
RebelGrowns’ Double OG Chem has 30% thc potential also. Jodrey said he was using a Rebels’ DOG Chem high thc male to hit clone onlys to increase thc numbers in the clone onlys for rec markets.
Tho Kev also talks about his Creme Brulee cut that comes in at mid teens thc levels, but claims he can get $4000/lb all day for it.It has a great quality of experience.
Till people get educated that thc numbers isnt the be all end all in cannabis. Its the quality of the experience that matters most. Canna-science is still in its infancy also. till they better understand entourage effects, terp effects on the buzz etc, we’re still in the wild west days of cannabis understanding.
Till everyone s better educated, thc numbers will be a cultivars’ main selling point IMO.
Being able to breed plants in much larger population pools than 10 yrs ago makes a huge difference… Guys are working populations of 2000-3000 plants to find that one winner.Pulling out crazy outliers.
