3D printed DIY Bean packager

Yup even if i have a gen 1 elegoo mars for a plate of 8-12 pucks typically takes about 6.5mins run time which is nice, just doing singular prototypes today, make a bunch of designs print 3-5 off see what works what doesn’t some just cosmetic.

Tinkering

That’s super quick, they’re definitely cool looking. Some sorta futuristic fuel cell our something. Love it

This is a great idea… honestly it must be up there with sliced bread :bread::bread::bread:. Little bit of insight – why not print out a mold with the 3D printer that can then be poured over with acrylic, making the individual pucks acrylic. Should save some time and money.

This could even be used to make custom pucks per strain…each puck/stain with a unique “engraving”. Now all the strains you get won’t get lost or mixed up. Haha, seriously this is brilliant!

You could also use cardboard cutouts, as the cover, with the sticker attaching it to the puck so you don’t get sticker gunk on your seeds.

Edit: epoxy stupid, haha

ah, i’ve been wondering how to keep the seeds from sticking to the sticker, but this is a fantastic and simple idea. i suppose someone with a laser cutter could quickly cut a bunch of lids/covers to size.

i got explaining my seed purchases down pat, let see if that skill transfers to buying 3d printers and reels of filament.

That is a great idea!
But, if they stick to the sticky while opening them, you don’t loose any. I’m clumsy I would spill them or loose them.
Either way, I guess whatever you prefer.

This is really cool stuff you all got going on in here! Hopefully once prototyping is finished someone starts a side hustle printing these baby’s out en mass!

Once you guys get these down and the bugs worked out. ANYONE with the capability and want/need hmu as I have a project coming up I’d love to have these for. Could be a killer side hustle tbh. Standard and custom bean shippers I’ve yet to see one in person but I absolutely love the idea. Bravo all of you :raised_hands:t2:

They look realllllll nice : )
@Mr.Sparkle is there a way to interlock the hexagons togeater creating a thin flat plate , kindof : ) so when posting a few they don’t become loose and overlap and no need for messy cello tape etc to hold them separately in place away from eachother : )

Haha very good idea bro!

@TopShelfTrees1 , it’s such a lovely well thought shape , thought it would be good to take advantage of all sides touching ( strong connection kind of etc )

I thought this was funny, lol.

Laser engraving, custom picture and/or you could number/date each puck…
I wonder if numbering them would be prohibitive to low cost/time?

Edit: hey stupid, it’s been epoxy not acrylic.

Haha, random thought of the day: “And the schnozz berries taste like schnozz berries” !!!

So just out of curiosity do any of you notice a rattling sound from the seeds when using these?

Been playing with them a bit, once the sticker is on the just stick/rest against it. My cat was smashing one around for a while, no noise

I just tried dropping it from like 6ft a few times, I think one bean dislodged for a second but i had to hold it next to my ear to hear it

Firm sticker press dents it in a bit and stops rattlers ![20220404_174821|511x500,

I don’t notice any rattling.
Plus, much lighter.

Lighter than what, a coin flip and hose washer?
