You can bring the files to a local makerspace too, not sure what theyā€™d charge though. Some libraries also have printers you can use nowadays

Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have itā€¦LoL but @SensiBowl these are pretty sweet

@DrGonzo13
Haha thanks, I was searching to see if someone made one a week or so ago, then a couple days later someone posted the one bobgrows hubby made and she sent me the dimensions. it worked great!.. then I got carried away lol

LOL, clearly ya never ordered any of @JohnnyPotseed 's seeds :wink: I supplied TONS of them for his sale, and that helped me make some minor revisions (thickness, I added a tiny .2mm lip on the edge to help with placing that round sticker, etc). Also played with using a solid puck, 2 bottom layers, no top layers and hex infill. Kinda worked but didnt allow you to strategically locate the beans.

My goal was to just toss the flip in a tray full of beans, dump beans on top, wipe off and place sticker on. Easy insta-count of 10 beans. Pretty much all of the seeds Johnny packed fit, with the exception of White Rhino, those were BIG beansā€¦

Oh, and the sticker helps stabilize the beans as well so they dont rattle in the envelope.

Lol, I tried to find the biggest beans I had, I made the holes 4.7mm wide, big enough for one bean but not 2, I would imagine some would still be too big.

Props to you for all the messing around with the design. I am extremely lazy and that helped skip so much prototyping.

Yea I noticed the sticker thing too. When I made one and tested it I was like ā€œdamn this is really well thought out!ā€

seriously, great little design.

Iā€™m also extremely cheap and didnā€™t want to buy slips. :wink:

ultimately, these are cheaper than flips / washers. And lighter as well. even including the sticker

What design software are you using?

I prefer to rough sketch in Tinkercad really quick. Then I bring it over to Fusion360 to refine (Fusion360 is free hobbyist license). That allows you to ā€œmake it look and FEEL prettyā€, i.e. filets and chamfers on corners and edges, etc.

@SensiBowl this thread and also a little bit of @Nagel420 got me playing with the single cell idea today.

Havenā€™t nailed it down 100% nor do i expect to they are definitely getting refined, also giving me good practice doing 3d sketches.

Starting to lean heavier into the multi connected cell slots which i kinda stumbled into due to some wall failures on one puck. Not a problem with FDM printers like you guys but for me and resin printers the advantage is the smaller singular cells hold onto resin due to surface tension creating more waste where as the multi cells tend to allow easier resin run off just interesting quirks that help shape designs.
