I tried the 321 if ppms are hi add water
I feel it’s too hot
Also if your using ROwater it it lacking the minerals in the water and needs to be tweaked
I use tap water and let it sit a day to de- chlorinate
If you have the 321 way are you not using Epson salts?
My feed schedule only works if you use a substrate not any thing with built **fretilizer **
This way you only give the plant what it needs with out guessing how much n is in the soil or anything that may cause lock out
Switch things up
In veg 3 weeks before I flip I feed 10/30/20 teaspoon per gallon adding 1/4 tablespoons per gallon and the same with Epson salts
you can stay ahead of deficiency’s this way
And they can use the extra p and k !
2 weeks of transition I feed 20/20/20
Plus the same Epson salts and 15.5/0/0
This gives the plant a storage of n to get them through flower
Weeks 3/5.5 I use 10/30/20 now stop 15.5/0/0 and only use Epson salt in flower
If you like to use a booster 0/50/30 at this stage
Now week 6 / 7 I mix
Per 5 gallons of water I mix 1 tablespoons of 10/30/20 and equal parts of .5/12/26
This gives the proper ratios needed during this stage I do add Epson but trace amount 1/2 teaspoon per 5 gallons
Here a p k booster is good here canna puts out a 13/14
Npk of 1/4/4
Finish up with 5/12/26 weeks 8 and 9 and decrease ppms
As you go through finish
** I only try to help I explain why the use of substrate vs soil is crucial to this particular schedule**
The reason I’m explaining this, I gave my formula out to a few people. A lot of had success one particular individual didn’t and immediately blamed me when unfortunately worked for me. Didn’t work for him because he didn’t do exactly what I do.
Check out my room this run 4 big Octopot and 5 small ones and my room is jammed lol two plants in the small Octopots are over 6 feet tall from top of soil to top of plants lol
Trim jail for me lol
Learn to read the plants needs everything we do extra has cause and effect and can impact your e
What’s the ppms of your water
Mine range between 200 and 220 ppm
You can improvise by using 1/2 ro and 1/2 tap it may help
I think this the the most I posted in a while
Sorry
Paps
No apologies necessary @Papalag !! Always appreciate your input!
I think i may have found the problem.
Power si apparently is best used as a foliar, and not in a res.
There is definitely a film of some sort in the res all over the roots. Roots are still looking good and white, but im wondering if this film has been hindering the roots’ ability to absorb nutes properly.
Would explain why increased mag feeds havent done anything, and why i have no burnt tips after going to 90% almost a week ago. Ugh…
Now to try and figure out a way to ‘rinse’ the roots and res to try and get rid of this film crap.
i am using epsom at the rates suggested by jacks in their 321 schedule. once i realized this issue wasnt getting better, i started upping the epsom ratio when i was watering. for example something like part A and B at 80%, epsom at 95%. still didnt seem to help!
the only thing that appears to have made a small difference is a mag foliar spray. which i think means there is an issue in the root zone, and the roots’ ability to uptake mag? that line of thought makes me think i should flush the sleeve, in case there is a cal or salt buildup going on.
i flipped on 10/4. i really wanted to try and keep vegging until i was seeing 100% healthy leaves, but winter in MN is coming! lol… even harder to control a tent, in a basement, when the ambient temp and rh in the lung room are… 65ish F, and 30-40% rh. the new ac infinity terraforge looks awesome. could likely handle full vpd control for temp and rh year round, but damn… its a spendy one! ha…
i tried last winter, and i ended up with a 750w oil filled radiator space heater and a small humidifier in the tent. humidifier worked ok i think, but man… the oil filled heater… i think it caused heat stress on some of the upper buds at the end. dried em out before they were done. temps were swinging all over the place.
may try to get a 2x2 rig set up on the main floor of my place for winter, if i decide to try it again. maybe even try my 1st auto, so i can keep the lights on longer for the whole grow to control temp and rh swings. temps and rh seem more stable up there.
Alrighty yall. When do you guys start counting days in flower? From flip? Or 1st signs of bud sites?
Seems like 50/50 on opinions on the interwebs from what ive seen. Lol
Reason im asking is i think my durban is done, or almost done, stretching. And is in need of some serious defoliation. The big strip down i did before flipping? Cant even tell anymore. Lol took her a solid 2 weeks after flipping to show pistils.
Ive read people saying to lollipop or do a second and last big defol at 2-4 weeks of flower.
If im counting from flip, im at day 31. If i count from 1st bud sites, im into early week 3 now.
Is it still safe for me to lollipop and do another big defol one more time before letting her ride until harvest?
During veg I tend to tuck leaves rather than pluck, so no serious defoliation.
I count “days under 12/12 lighting”, not when buds appear. I let the plant stretch usually 2-3 weeks after the flip, then give a serious defol. I clear the lower third of the plant entirely, then trim upper branches to maximize light and air exposure. You still need leaves since they are the plant’s ‘solar panels’ so don’t take off too much!
How’d you like that Halloween snow? When my MN friends shared pics it brought back memories of the Halloween 1991 blizzard when it dumped multiple feet of snow so early in the season. By the end of winter the drifts on the sides of the road were piled so high. With a full moon and a fresh layer of white snow for reflecting, you could drive at night without headlights and see just fine.
And if you slid off the road, the “walls” were like bumpers to push you softly back into the lane.
since im at 31 days since flip, i should prob do the defol now? like tonight? ha
lol, i was still young enough to be trick or treating during the halloween blizzard of '91.
was epic! werent many kids out as the snow was flying. got the biggest haul of my childhood of full sized candy bars that year… lol
the forecast kept changing, but at one point the metro was in the bullseye for about 5 inches of snow. i ended up getting about an inch of accumulation, but nothing in the inner metro.
Defoliating now will not have a big impact in my opinion. Risk of mold is low - if your growing area is like mine it’s 40% rh or less this time of year. Defoliating again may increase potency or yield slightly but it’s one of those things I don’t think is a big deal one way or the other.
If you have two plants there I would say try it on one and see if you find any difference in the end product.
I usually count the days from the change of lights. But the caveat is that the plant must be sexually mature to start flowering at that point. If you start from 12/12 from seed for example it will take at least a couple of weeks before flowering phase can start. Sexually mature plants will have visible sex organs, even if they are very tiny. Counting the days of flowering is never an exact science, but useful as a rough guideline.
I defoliate right before flip, then once stretch has stopped (late week 2, week 3) then periodically as needed toward the end of the grow. My current grow is in its last week and inThere everu day pulling off the dying leaves.
I lived in southern MN and we got ice. We didnt have power for 3 weeks. My dad and I and my uncles family were all at my grandparents because they had a generator.
I was moving into a new apartment (Richfield, in the Twin Cities) on November 1st, but worked it out with the landlord to start moving in on October 30. Heavy snow started to fall as I carried the last of the boxes. I couldn’t go anywhere due to the blizzard so I was able to unpack and organize all my possessions in the new place.
I cant imagine waiting for a zero water filter for water, they are so slow. Plus your water is dead afterward, if its a new filter. I felt this pain till i got ro.
i never got it fixed 100%, had to flip or id be vegging all winter trying to resolve it think. lol
ended up finding another grower on reddit who ran the same strain and he also had a similar issue with the leaf coloration. not as pronounced as mine, but was the same. so i think its probably a combo of genetics, and me likely messing something up early in the grow that has continued to persist. some leaves look better than others. cant figure it out! lol
lights are coming on at 545p CST, ill post some more pics. buds are getting fatter and smells awesome!
