I’d kill all the herms ASAP …we’ll, actually I’d probably relocate all herms to outdoors to separate that phenotype. Growing conditions/environmental inputs (e.g. soil and leaf temperature) have been known to increase the propensity to herm.
Quick little update:
So I chopped another true hermaphrodite last night. I’m not discouraged… Although I’m gonna start sweating if/when I’m down to my last 2-3 at least I get to cull the herd early.
And fuck mannn… these things don’t rush for anybody! They’re still growing into the light, and slowly putting out pistils &/or sacs. Dropped the light schedule to 10/14 last night too.
10/14 is a good call. Might wanna consider playing some Marvin Gaye or Barry White also
Nice! Good luck!!
@JohnnyPotseed wants to reproduce AG too, but found females only…
@lambchopedd . You found males, it would be a good partnership…
Sorry for the intrusion…
interesting looks nothing like the recent repros of AG. those are some phat leaves and she look healthy though
Eh, cannabis politics/bickering usually ruin good ideas such as that one. Johnny & I didnt see eye-to-eye some time ago, so I doubt he’d be interested.
But he’s more than welcome to have as much pollen as I can spare! This is about preserving the plant.
I seen the packs of your MDS on the veterans giveaway .I didn’t get any for the giveaway but I got a lot of other awesome stuff OG put together for us vets and I wanted to thank you and everyone else who donated. If it weren’t for you guys some of us wouldn’t be able to get the good clean genetics do to either our location or state and federal law we needed to make our medicine.I tend to dip in and out of your grows and they look awesome.I’ve never grown a sativa myself I don’t even know if I’ve ever had a pure sativa.Looking forward to the next Veteran giveaway I hope to get some of your gear to run out next time.
Thanks! Full disclosure i gave it cytokinin while back b4 flip it makes them node more and stunts vertical if you forget to serial dilute 10x like i did lol Hopefully leaves thin out as a sativa.
She is also having slight yellowing on leaf tips compared to my other 1 gal grows same tent so i gave them all organic backed off megacrop but her new growths coming in slightly yellow too probably much more sensitive to lights or nutes?
Sorry, you said everything…
Everything will be fine.
No problem, man. I thank y’all for your service. And I thank the guy(s) Who put giveaway together also. All I did was send them beans when they told me.
If I were you I wouldn’t let MDS intimidate you. I chose at random some to grow in soil and some i Coco — both thrived and looked identical. MDS will take a little longer (14ish wks). they’ll stretch 3-4x but they’re extremely manageable (unlike these AGs). Everything from Bodhis & my op beans absolutely devoured nitrogen all the way up to wk10 — i’ve used both salt-based and organic (insect frass, mainly) — no issues with either. I’ve also hit them heavy with salt-based bloom boosters and now potassium sulfate… Again, they’re are 100% unbothered. I grew Bodhis under low intensity LED lights, and now my OPs under high intensity LEDs. The OP beans yielded much heavier, so there’s that. They get frosty with numerous but smaller resin heads early… And just continuously pack it on until the end. Out of the 20 or so beans I have going right now, only one is extra leafy, and another one foxtailed like crazy; so overall I would expect your typical fat sativa-style buds.
I should probably give some beans to some local yokel‘s that are just getting started growing. That way I can hopefully call them “beginner friendly“ if/when they succeed — not that any of you are beginners!!!
But I would love to help lower the stigma of sativa‘s being hard to grow. Or at least the stigma that these are.
Great to know!
Update:
Down to my last two males one’s a bodhi, one’s from Woodstock.
I had a third… But as I was checking it today I saw a couple pistil clusters starting at its very bottoms (bodhi). Ughhhhh. I gave everything (else) a forceful but sloppy shake, and pollen is definitely in the air. All the females still look good. At this point I just want the culling to stop
Didn’t you have a power outage at one point for 2 days? @lambchopedd ?
Sorry you are having such a rough time of it! Fingers crossed it’s smooth sailing here on out!
That was long before the AGs iirc i only remember that because I was running 3pks of Crickets & Cicadas Citrus 25…. And that ended up being a shitshow
But I could be mis-remembering. This is why jot down all of the shit that happens in my grows — because I forget.
You mentioned it in one of your posts and I immediately thought It could be responsible for hermaphrodites, but I didn’t find your post in the last third of this thread…not sure where i saw it.
It’s definitely not unusual to have lots of hermaphrodites in a landrace sativa grow, especially with more raw stock. I suppose the more you find this generation the less will pop up next generation, so as much as it sucks, its good work. But those same culled plants grown Outdoors may do just fine, so you may want to consider keeping those last couple males regardless…
Quick update:
So I think we’re in the clear — pollination has definitely commenced across the board. As I start to see bracts swell, I’m making notes about the actual bud structures. A couple females catch my eye.
This shorter, denser looking one excites me
The 3 males took FOREVERRR to start dropping pollen, but look at em in all their glory
1 & 2 are pretty dense for late-males that just starting to drop pollen — however, that super dense look one has terrible long inter-nodal spacing, hence why it’s bent (was growing into the light).
The third obviously has barely dropped. Still arguably dense, which is strange(?). He also has shorter stature similar to that female I mentioned.
I’m thinking about giving em another week or two to let their pollen fly. May reveg em all early just to play about with. Once clones are taken, and (hopefully) they pass the reveg tests without throwing pistils or freaking out…. Maybe I can flip & harvest smaller clones for their pollen and give out to whomever Just thinking ahead.
WOW. Just. Wow.
Great work @lambchopedd , them plants look very loved.
