Well another week has slid on by and the weather got crazy hot here and many plants in the greenhouse were not happy. A few crispy leaves even… wife said it was mid 30’s C… I never looked but it was hot.
Clouds have moved in and winds are changing so hopefully we get a few days of cooler temps so i can get all my transplanting done. So the final plant count is going to be culled down to 42… it’s gonna be rough this next couple weeks.
Now a good portion of the plants are outside already with a few left indoors that I just dont have space for yet.
Due to the heat and that I grow mostly in pots, the sun is cooking the plants as the black plastic soaks up the sun. So I am painting as many pots as I can with flat white spray paint. I probably should have used gloss to reflect more light but whatever… paint has shot up almost double in price and is “on sale” for 12.99 a can … what the fuck eh? So I’m gonna paint what I can and maybe duct tape and black white poly strips around those that I can’t paint.
So here is the stuffed greenhouse… LOL the chaos will come into order as those who have followed my previous adventures in my light dep madness have seen. It’s a hovel of a set up but high quality ganja gets grown here @52N … just gotta light dep it or bust
and then indoor we have the remaining plants to be sexed and transitioned outside. Still a fair number of plants but probably 1/2 or more of these will be culled.
be nice to get the veg room empty so I can give it a thorough cleaning and sanitizing.
Now… the flower room
Looking forward to flowering with LED next indoor season. After these plants in the HPS room finish up I’ll be shutting it down as well and it will get the thorough sanitizing done. Then it’s all about the greenhouse till fall after harvest and hunting season when i fire back up again.
Here are a couple quick pics from today
Bubba Royale at day 39 of 12/12
well that’s it for now… next week will see things a bit more organized but the target day to shut down the veg room is tomorrow so I’m gonna be exceedingly busy in the garden the next few days. @shag … do you see now why it’s gonna be tough to find a plant sitter for the trip in august LOL I should know either way by the end of the month
okay… not a lot of people following this thread but I suppose its been kinda bland so far LOL
That’s okay, things are about to get interesting.
So I have been going thru seed pops of 3 lines since January which are Karma’s Biker Kush original version that I have taken to F3 from original packs and 30 of those got popped. Then there are the Long Valley Royal Kush which 30 were also popped. And lastly the 2017 Shishkaberry seed lot (98 shishkaberry x 2015 shishkaberry 3f2) and I went thru 40 of those altogether.
So lets look at the Biker Kush first… There are probably 12 females I think and I have set aside a group of 5 males so far. Selection was fairly easy and I just go by my nose at this point and then structure. Next will be topping response and node development. The first female I have put a number on is this one here. She reeks of a sharp tangy rubbery skunky goodness with no stem rub required. Just disturb her leaves and the aroma wafts up to the nose… I love it!!
This seedling showed bright yellow variegation earlier on by the section has turned a lighter shade of green.
It also has some mutation going on with the leaf which I find interesting.
so moving right along… Long Valley Royal Kush… I am searching for the Royal Kush leaners which have distinct leaf markers. Long blades, aggressively serrated/double serrated, narrower by comparison to the highland indica leaners which kinda dominate the pool. So there are lot’s of long valleys as I have a hard time telling them apart when they are young plants. Mandelbrot could cull what he didn’t want before the 1st set of true leave showed… I’m not there yet hehe. The stinkiest females from both the long leaf and wider leaf expressions will be kept and the same goes for the males but my next generation of these will be heavily selecting the long leaf pheno types and incrossing them with the long leaf males.
Not sure how many will be kept yet but I’d love to flower them all LOL no room for that but I might clone them all… we’ll see
Here’s some pics of those
I meant to add more to this thread yesterday but I got side tracked.
first up we have the OGKB 2.0 clone only … there are 3 females of the same age and I put 2 into 7 gal pots and 1 into a 15 gallon rubbermaid tote(no picture). I have a old mother out there too that I was going to give the axe too but this is one of my favorite smokes so she might end up in an 18gallon tote… we’ll see.
I just got Chunkypigs blessings to work and release seeds with the OGKB 2.0 clone… so stoked about that !!!
Here another ogkb 2.0 in a 2.5 gallon pot. This one will be reversed with STS shortly
RM-G13 … got 3 of these and they are clones off the one that is finishing up in my flower room. The flowering girl just reeks big time… glad I kept clones!!
now that is not all I have going on there is still the Fire OGKB f2 and Fruity Pebbles f4 and the Mikado x Tropicanna Cookies F2 … I’ll try and fit those into next update.
hmmmm I forgot one LOL
back in january I started hunting thru my seeds from the 2017 shishkaberry seeds I made with the 98 female x 2015 shishkaberry 3f2 male. I’ve grown these out a few times to get the feel for the plants and what I want to look for going forward. This female was from the first seed pop and she has been a very hardy girl showing some resistance to the thrips that plagued the garden and she is just a solid bush. Her stem rubs are crazy sticky and have a really deep rich aroma of earthy skunky berries. She had a sister that was near identical but lacked that sticky stem so she got axed the other day. I have a bunch of shishkaberries still but have killed off the majority in favor for a small group of 5 I think. I’m not done culling yet and will probably only keep 2 or 3 females. There are males too but I am undecided on keeping them as I don’t have any plans to continue breeding the Shishkaberry line and am looking more for females to make some crosses with.
Well here she is and as space and time permits I will update on her sisters.
She is in a #5T pot and literally drinks a 1/2 gallon every day but today she will get a new home in an 18 gallon tote
2017 Shishkaberry Group B - #1 and that’s the Pre 98 Bubba Kush S1 behind her in that 15gallon tote
There is also the LUI x G13 … no current pics but they are getting to be big plants LOL and I really need to clone and flip those and thier brother. I have fresh cloning supplies on hand so the next couple days will be cloning and then getting those plants going on the light dep program.
well… there are still bikers, gorilla bubble bx2s, mikado x tropicanna cookies F2, Fruity Pebbles F4, Fire OGKB f2 and a couple more Long Valley Royals that aren’t in the pics as they are still in the grow room but by next update everything will be outside. I just need to make some brutal selection and culling decisions on my breeding lines and make some room in the greenhouse LOL
That is the same plant as last summer’s light dep. I did not keep a clone only because yield is not great on this one. She smells way more gassy than her mom did … maybe i should kept a clone after all LOL.
Not to worry… I held back a good 100 seeds if I need to do a proper pheno hunt of the Bubba Royale. @TopShelfTrees1 got the last “pack” of Bubba Royale that leaves the vault hehehe.
So what’s the next step for Bubba Royale? Well… Bubba Royale 2.0 of course!!! although I’m not sure I’ll call it that exactly but due to the success of the B.R. in general, I am going to pick brand new parents and do the cross all over again. The Verdant Green Pre 98 Bubba Kush S1 sold over in the UK and Europe/balkans has proven to be an outstanding seed lot over and over again by growers on icmag and other forums over there. Bubba Royale uses one of those plants as the mom and I have a new VG P98 Bubba Kush S1 that I’ll clone and keep while the mom grows out in the 15gallon tote. I am hoping she will be a good candidate but I have to pop the packs of Katsu P98 Bubba Kush S1 and hunt those as well.
I would like to get my hands on the Pre 98 Bubba clone that I know is held here by a few canadians but so far my requests have gone unanswered.
Pre 98 Bubba Kush
Irene OG
OG Kush
Rock Star Kush
I’m seeking these clone onlys if anyone wants to trade … I have quite a few elite clones and seed lines at my disposal to take cuts from
anyhow…same cross with new parents. Pre 98 Bubba S1 or Clone Only x a killer male from this latest Long Valley Royal pheno hunt… gonna be some good , very strong medicine
Can’t believe I’ve been missing this. Nice work @SHSC-1 . Whole bunch of things I see I want/need that I’m working into rotation when? Taking my wife shopping in a few. “What flavor?” “LVRK or BR. Oh sorry, mind was elsewhere. What did you say?”
LOL @crownpoodle I have the same dilemma when it comes to what to pop next hehehe
For this years greenhouse I went balls out and loaded up on strains so I would have nice variety at play whilst getting my breeding work done at the same time. Last summer my breeding plans didn’t really happen due to my accident and I just concentrated on filling jars with stash. Year before I grew about 6 pounds in the greenhouse… last year a little over half that. I still have enough in the jars to last me till fresh bud comes down but the variety has diminished. So this year I popped some fem seeds and others for personal smoke and the biker, lvrk, fire ogkb and a couple others for breeding stock. I’ll be highlighting some of the breeding work in my sponsor thread but the majority of the grow will go down here in this thread.
@CanuckistanPete ya that shiskaberry is starting to get away on me LOL… gonna have to get her flowering real soon or she might hit the roof if she stretches out in flower haha
@Pigeonman … the Horny Horse Cherry Red Shitfest is getting the chop any day now. I’ll pull her out into good lighting for some preharvest pics. She is super frosty over dense nugs that are developing fall colors in the bud leaflets… reds, yellows and purples… beautiful flowers!!
Well I did a bunch more culling and some transplanting.
Got the OGKB 2.0 mum and Shishkaberry B#1 transplanted into 18gallon totes so that completes the tote transplants. So there is those 2 and then the Pink Kush, P98 Bubba S1, Grape Pie and another OGKB 2.0 (can never have enough 2.0 ) are the 4 in the 15 gallon totes.
Transplanting the Long Valley Royals to the 7gallons as I select from the 20 + females. I think I’m down to a dozen but have to cull more yet.
The Biker V1F3 have been selected down to 8 and are getting topped. I’ll finish selection once I’ve seen the topping response.
Then there are the younger plants that are starting to gain speed. Be a couple weeks before those see bigger pots
First light dep group will be starting pretty quick!!!
that compliment means a lot, thank you @crownpoodle
the garden is having it’s challenges as not all the plants are adapting to my soil mix although I don’t see any burnt tips. Hard to see in the photos but all is not perfect hehe… when is it ever though right?
there is sunshine 4 as a base in the soil.
Indoors I run sunshine 4 and bottled nutes but outside I have done a mix of sunshine mix/bottled nutes and organics in others.
Now that I have a few seasons of used greenhouse and indoor soil that I have been piling up in a spot in the yard on a tarp, this year I decided to go full organic soil for everything in the greenhouse. Will make it easier by not needing to mix feed for the plants every couple days.
This year I have bitten off a load of work with my plant numbers and going with a standard 7gallon pot size for everything but the 6 plants in totes.
Hoping to only need to use water from the well to feed the plants this year but I am brushing up on foilar teas and top dressing just in case my soil mix is off.
Now this year with everything in organic soil… at the end of the season I can get some soil tests done so I know what to ammend with next year.
On your indoor, didn’t you amend the #4 a little? More Perlite, or right out of the bag?
I had been doing Peat/Perlite with lime and worm castings. Works well. I just really needed to not move so much soil for a bit.
