Differences make the market - I thought it was amazing.
I have a big version of it in my body.
Lol. I don’t believe it.
They do have some great bud…it’s just like…not everything they sell is worth the money. Their SuperLemonHaze is really nice for example
There’s a little Café called Studio 2 directly at the flower market. I really liked it there, food and coffee as well as service was great there. It’s been some days since I been there though…
There’s a cheesecake store and a magic mushroom gallery in the same street.
yes. I think that is where i first had chocolope which I guess is DNA. they also have Ogre (it just won a cup I think, 2009ish), four way haze…trying to remember them all. i may have got some crystal (kief or whatever) there too.
I always flew through AMS and stayed a night or two on arrival and departure when visiting European vendors. It’s a great time and vibe.
You already have a bunch of great recommendations above.
Public transport is cheap and efficient. Take the train or bus from the airport unless you have a ton of luggage in tow. You need to swipe in and out when boarding a train or tram with your ticket.
A taxi will cost you plenty and probably take longer because you get stuck in traffic.
First rule - go where the locals go. Uncured buds are the norm in the highly tourist traffic spots to keep up with demand.
Go to Haarlem for at least a day trip. @buzzmobile gave great advice on this. I prefer to stay in Haarlem and travel to Amsterdam by train if the feeling struck me. It has much less tourist traffic and hotels are cheaper for the same quality. I believe it is only one stop away from Amsterdam on the train.
More local feel.
Purchase a tram pass on arrival. It’s well worth it. You’ll also do a lot of walking, bring comfortable shoes. January is going to be cold and windy. Pack accordingly.
https://www.coffeeshopmenus.org and www.coffeeshopdirect.com gives some idea of what shops offer. Some info is outdated but still a good indicator of what you may find.
The farther away from Central Station you travel, the less touristy it gets. I’d get on a tram and ride south until at least museumplein or further to start. Google maps is your friend.
I really enjoyed the Van Gogh museum. If this interests you, there are many other museums. I’d also highly recommend the Rijksmuseum. Depends on your taste. Plenty of info on Google. If you like museums, Amsterdam has plenty. They even have a grow museum.
If a Psychedelic sideline is to your liking, check out a Smartshop. They sell the part of magic mushrooms that grow underground called sclerotia (aka truffels). Anything dried or grows above ground is not legal. They do not taste very good. Best to take something with them to mask taste. Most shops are the same. Ask a few questions, if they blow you off, find another shop. They are STRONG!
Take a stroll through Vondelpark. Beautiful scenery.
Eat some Dutch cheese and stroppwafel. Maybe not together
Heineken was founded in Amsterdam. Have one if you like beer. You’ll taste the difference.
It’s like having a Guinness in Ireland.
No need to visit the casinos. Don’t say I didn’t warn you
@trytogoodbud gave some great locations to visit. I second them all.
The flower market is worth a visit.
The Red Light district is cool to see at least once. I’ve never visited inside so can’t comment but it’s a cool touristy spot to see. Do not take pictures! They will give you a hard time.
Many hotels do not have an elevator and very narrow stairs. Something to consider if you have tons of luggage to cart.
Hit me up if you have any specific questions.
Have fun!
Dampkring coffee
Try the Mexican haze
If you Can go to Breda coffee shop PAX
Peace
mr. K has decent stuff. Brouwerij het ij for beers.
After reading some of the posts and seeing some pics, I have memories of my trip slowly coming back…lol.
I really enjoyed breakfast at Grey Area
I also stayed just outside the city at a BnB in Watergang. It was a really short drive to the city and a heck of a lot cheaper.
Added a few more items to the list. Thanks!
