If your decent at studying and taking tests you can bullshit your way through literally any certification course.
I think your seeds determines your master gardening skill level.
Wisdom matters most.
Blood, sweat and years!
I hold certifications from several floor manufacturers, I would disagree with that statement, the skills required cannot be faked, but we’re talking hands on, with master installers looking over your shoulder, not on a computer
I know you have to go thru MSU to become a Master Gardener here. .
They put in many hours of training thru books and hands on. They are evolved in may programs to educate, create interest and help with hands on problems.
It is like a apprenticeship you go thru for a skilled trade. I have much respect for the MSU extension program.
The two people that helped me when I was young, cultivated a love for growing in me.
I probably shouldn’t have used the word literally, I do that way to often when I’m high:sweat_smile:. I really meant more generalized certifications. I’m a certified master fitness trainer and nutrition coach
Out of likes I got what your saying though, and do agree with you lol, just not the literally any part.
Florida has a master gardener program, but they are volunteers that help at county agricultural extensions. University of Florida has online courses that cover a wide range of topics that would be beneficial for a number of jobs.
By the third bong hit I become a Master Gardener
I went to school on how to lay a corn row. 4 H lol. High school. I know people. It’s more AG than anything. Cattle chickens that kinda stuff. It’s listed as biologist some times as a degree. The study of plants is the other one.
If you grow indoors you may help save the world one day.
I believe Master Gardener certification in the US is just a title, and it allows you to work with your local Agricultural extension office that you can Google to find. Basically you offer advice to people in your hardiness zone and become an expert in your microclimate. From my understanding this is.
If you want to work in the nursery industry or greenhouse industry, you will want to look at those key words instead of “Gardening.” Oregon State and somewhere else on the West Coast(can’t remeber off the top of my head) have such programs and I believe are considered “pipeline schools,” for that line of work.
Greenhouse Management Is one of the degree programs for sure.
Or you can go traditional route and start as a grunt after you go find your nearest tree nursery and work your way up the ladder.
Edit*
Cornell University has a TON of small extension classes that teach homesteading, better sustainable gardening practices, etc. If you are a veteran, they will offer you a couple of those classes for free even
found a site “Trump seeds.com” Master breeder - has some very interesting strains - have used his genetics - they are OK (worth-a-grow) He’s in UK,
I was a certified pleasure craft license examiner. I signed my application with a crude drawing of a wang.
Incidentally all of my friends got their boating licence that year.
If you’re still up and up on the coaching I could really use direction in my life…
Uh, but I digress. This site is full of master gardeners. Most certifications I have held were little more than a cash grab, and the few important ones were important enough that employers were willing to pay for them.
We are the most certified humans in the history of the world, in the last 60-80 years. Colleges, have professors that have jobs for life. Students, going in debt for a lifetime, for a few years of collage, millions going through the system.
Then why is this planet in such a fucked up state?
Every facet that college is to bolster up, to teach, to instruct to each new generation, is now in such a state of fakery and nonsense, and blustery watery lies.
We teach a false reality. We live in a false reality.
Master OF Anything is a false reality.
Eh, so you think the US is responsible for the Amazon forest?
What about comparing, let’s say, the Mississippi to the Ganges, I think you will see that your point is only valid if you believe America is the only nation-state with any responsibility for the world?
I can certify that this is a real song:
But yeah, mostly they’re worth the paper they’re written on. The experience is what’s valuable, and that might or might not come with a certificate.
¡Que profundo!
Never stop learning.
What you need is my extensive 12 week life coaching package. Price varies based on your ability to pay.
What if I went to school for lessons in false reality? Would that make the internet explode?
When I read master gardener I envisioned an 80 years old that baffled the scientific world by his achievements and knowledge. One that can turn sticks and leaves into a awe inspiring, life changing experience. A Michelangelo of the plant.
Reading around, it seems master is of a much lower level of mastery… and instead of the ooohhs and aaahs it’s more in line with well, it’s not dead, so it’s good right.
