What does it mean? Are their jobs for this specialty? I’m sure I could breeze through this course with 30 years outdoor growing and 20 years indoor growing experience, but that’s probably ego talking lol.
Certified by who?
A college, junior or regular
That was gonna be my question. In most industries being certified is almost useless because anyone can certify anyone regardless of their true capabilities. I’ve worked at places that have considered you certified in your job after a training period regardless of whether you could actually do the job or not. Basically all it took was being present for so many days/months and even though they never learned anything and still needed help with the most basic things they were considered certified.
The same goes for the “Master Grower” title. What does that even truly mean? Most master growers only have that job and title cause they either had the money to open their own grow or were buddies with the guys that did. There’s a reason most Rec herb is mediocre. They literally just find a proven hydro setup and run that without any attempt to dial in the grow to specific plants. As long as they have clean water, and the auto feeders, fans and lights don’t fail.
Don’t believe me go to on to all the forums all over and see how many people claim they are master growers and you’ll get about the same response out of them. An unwillingness to try new things or admit they are better than what they are doing. It’s always, these light, this media, this nutrient line with this feeding schedule, and if your doing anything different from them you grow garbage and are a noob.
I’m a certitude life coach.
Seriously. I’m not joking.
I think it was 39.99
No better to way to monetise a basic skill than to force accreditation. It’s a ponzi scheme
I won the 4/20 give-away Masters Growing Certification glass from Green CulturED and i’m just over 1/2 way through the course.
I’ll say this once I get through all of this: I will be a better gardener.
Does the title matter? No. But will I use it as a power move with idiots? Maybe.
A significant portion of my GF’s job used to be growing grasses in a laboratory environment at a college. She was paid to be a “master grower” - was being certified as a master grower a job requirement? No. Was at least 6 years of Biology at a collegiate / doctorate level a requirement? Yes.
I think if the OP wants to get accreditation for a job involving growing stuff they probably should look into a bio degree/phd.
I do have to mention that since I’ve been gardening for over 30+ years and cannabis for 5+ i’m really chuffed that theres so many “in between the lines” things still to learn from taking a course like this.
If I had it in me the bio degree would be rad to make it mad science level!
There’s master gardener programs associated with most universities. Like here we have a master gardener and master naturalist programs through the K-State extension. You should investigate your local school.
I bet!! The breadth of info out there is staggering. I’m always so embarrassed asking my GF herb related grow questions
I think if i could do it over again I’d do bio too.
Master gardeners association , it’s non cannabis related as of now. The people from the master gardeners booth at market always come ask me for advice on germination, harvest windows, etc. I don’t think a lot is required to pass the exam lol.
I have been told I am certifiable but am not certified nor a master of anything. I am good with that.
But you let all those unicorns turn into zombies still
I’m a certified Master Baiter!! I don’t fish, but I do love huntin bearded clam.
Zombies. So hip right now.
@Seamonkey84 Is Gardener Scott serious??
I think he takes himself very serious; I don’t anyone else does/should. I gave up after the repetetion of MASTER GARDENER bore into my brain…could be a drinking game.
