Arcata Trainwreck Is it still around?

Dam that is bad ass :+1: I am going to look for it on the web :sunglasses:

yup wreck and wreck hybrids can both be tough to control, i learned long ago when growing the trainwreck keep her natural meaning no topping, run her about half stripped doing this will get you the biggest wreck buds while keeping her very much under control. if not you better have lots and lots and lots of support.

This. She’ll flop all over the damn place!

I actually thought I was being smart by topping her :grimacing:
I didn’t fully understand: it’s not the stretch on Trainwreck that makes her a challenge to control (maybe 2.5x), it’s her lateral growth habit. Every branch has side branches, and every side branch is a string of bud!
No branches grow the same, and there’s no telling what direction they will fall.
Now I’m wondering if pic 2 is different also because she was only topped once…
Others were topped twice

I’d check in on it. :bear::+1:
It would be cool to compare them to my recent experiences.
Another member here gifted me some TGA Chernobyl (f1) pollen, so I hit a few branches with that. Sort of a Trainwreck BX but not really since Sub didn’t like Arcata, and used a different cut.
Anyway, your grow could give a nice baseline for Arcata leaners in the next generations!

I miss trainwreck. Unique smell profile and potent! Mine really hated wet feet. I never saw a plant need such an extreme wet/dry cycle as her.

Mine are starting to overwhelm the carbon filter at about 30 days of flower. Hard to place… just dank as hell right now.

Did she droop and yellow if over watered? I haven’t made that particular mistake with these, but the run prior was Maui Mango Haze, and I killed 4 plants by overwatering. Even in full flower they drink 50% less frequently than average.
Probably why I was able to avoid it with the TW

would love to see updates on it, trainwreck is one of those I expect to have a big bounceback. feels like the past few years “trappers” have set the style expectations on whats hot. chasing new waves and yadda yadda yadda.

smokers are sick of it and modern classics are on the rebound. OG, Chemdog, Trainwreck, Green Crack, Blue Dream, etc. we’ve had enough trop cookies crosses for a hundred lifetimes.

Richard William Seeds has an impressive Trainwreck. Sounds like its a heavily worked backcross, from the write-up. I popped half a pack and got all similar phenos of floppy flowers. Terps reminded me of what I used to get in Portland in the 90’s.
