Haha Indian Rocks is the beach my dad lived on and I grew up there. Tiny little spot on the Gulf coast that put out some decent surfers. Crazy expensive these days unfortunately. Probably just a bunch of kooks out there nowadays. Haha

No surfing in Hippies Cove. It’s a beach by a dam. Never seen such! Kinda funny coming from P’Cola beach I thought. It is however flooded with rich folks that like to take their clothes off!

Trimming up the bottoms and stuff on these plants now. It’s tough to not trim these suckers up a ton. I’m so tempted to try one of these super defols. Might come back in a week or so and do it. Haha

When I went through my defoliation phase, it started to become an obsession, like nail biting or something. A soon as I saw a leaf that looked “out of place” I plucked it. Just be careful, it can turn into an addiction pretty quickly

Hahaha I totally see that. I kind of hope I get some sacs, so I won’t be tempted to keep doing it and pushing it each time. Haha
Pulled a Panama Pupil plant. Purple pistils and a small plant. Probably be meh smoke. Now I’m trying to figure out where to put some fans to get the air moving in the tent. Tried a big one on top of the lights, but it seemed to push the driver heat around too much. Haha

That’s exactly what I started to see. Even on Regs. They would start to appear at the node where I plucked the leaf off. That’s when I started to back off and rethink my strategy. I like to keep the bottoms clean though. I was pretty aggressive for awhile, but I think I’m in a happy place now

Going to order a 5’x5’ tent soon and get the seeds from @Slammedsonoma420 started, so I can have them sexed and clones taken by the time these plants are done and dried. I might grab a 95W veg panel from HLG, but lights are expensive, so I’m just going to use my 3000k board and the one 100W veg panel I have for sure. They’ll be stretchier or whatever. Oh well. Too excited to wait. Haha The seeds are Megafauna, Lime Berry Mega, and Caramel Candy Kush from Dynasty along with Appy F3 from High & Lonesome. I’ll start some other fems I have along with them just so I have enough female plants in case of an unlucky amount of males. Was looking on Headie Gardens at the Appy F3 and Hunza Valley ‘91 from Lucky Dog. Probably grab those during the holidays if they’re around. Big thanks to @Slammedsonoma420 !

So I missed or rather put some good info out of my mind because I didn’t want to think about it.
Have I been possibly forcing herms on genetics prone to it by defoliating? I usually don’t go too hard and try to follow a no more than 20% rule I heard somewhere but have hit a few hard. Pretty much everything I’ve run from GPS Purple Punch line has hermed. But I’ve also heard things about that run of seeds from them and also Purple punch in general.
Is it a know issue defoliating seed plants? @PatHealy I’ve heard you mention a dislike of that practice a couple times. How about defol on the clones once a stable mother is found? Is the likelihood of herms still there as I would think the potential would carry through in the genetics? I just really dislike herms and am looking to lessen my chances. Thanks!

It’s definitely a risk with flowering out seed plants. With clones it’s super easy to strip one and leave another to see what happens. Clones also just end up being more stable for some reason. I don’t know what that reason is. If it’s a maturity thing, more root space thing, or what. More research needs to be done, but seems herms are from ethylene and some growth hormone level. Less stress on seed plants the better in my experience. My humidity is staying pretty high in this tent though, so I might be stripping these things down pretty well. Seeded weed won’t be the end of the world for me unless it’s crazy seeded. Haha These will be the last seed plants I flower out though.

I’m thinking of grabbing one. I already have one from another company. Figure I’ll run one on each side of the 3000k panels and see how it goes.

A bit pricey but very nice. I flower under it sometimes too. As far as extra/less stretch red/blue I’ve seen no difference.
The biggest difference is that my eyes like looking at the 4000k better which is worth something to me.

I was just noticing how much cheaper some Vivosun panels are, but HLG is top notch and Vivosun is Vivosun. Haha
