I’d love to figure out a way to vent out the window where it didn’t look crazy. Haha I was wondering if there’s anyway to hide it? Maybe make it look like a window ac unit, but vent out an 8” duct and the I think 4” portable ac duct. Is that possible?

Does that vent close and cover that up?

Nah. That’s just what it looks like. You could always use the shell of a portable AC unit take all the guts out box off the inside with a piece of wood and pipe your vent into that then it would just blow into a grilled box outside that looks like a window unit and vent outside.

That’s what I was thinking. Think I’ll give that a try before cutting holes in my walls and stuff. Thanks!

Why not something like this. And then use a reducer for the 8" duct.

Edit. I’m sure they have 4 or 6" sizes

Also search dryer vent window kit…

While these will work you really don’t want to reduce if possible. It’s more work on the fan motor and reduced airflow.

It beats cutting holes in cinder block!!!

Not gonna argue there! :joy:

I was looking for a dual hose one to do the tent exhaust and portable ac exhaust, but then started thinking it might be best to just have something installed on the outside that covers the window up and then use some treated plywood. What about that idea?

Definitely up to you. You know what you’re working with. At that point why not make a little box like mine! You can spray the inside of duct to make it less reflective at the opening or use darker screen than I did.

What I would do is run the ducts into the attic and then duct them through the attic air vents under the eves. Do you have those vents? Usually about 12x4" with screen over them.

Edit. That would keep everything hidden from the outside

This is how my veg closet vents! :fist:t3:

Up and out!

I was thinking I’d put some Bermuda shutters on there. Eventually I’ll end up doing the whole house anyways.

Guess I’ll also have the 6” duct from the veg tent to exhaust once I get that setup.

Could you take a dead ac unit, remove the guts leaving just the shell intact, and install the shell like you would any ac window unit. You would have to seal the inside of the box where the ducting enters the box, but that shouldn’t be difficult.

Edit: I should have read @NDNCHILD’s post above. He suggests the same approach. Great minds and all! (Time to hit the bong.)

That’s what I was leaning towards before I thought of just installing shutters. I don’t have an ac unit, so I’d have to buy one and then I’d still look like I had a junky window unit on the second story of a corner lot. Haha The shutters are the way for me, because I’m going to eventually put them on the house no matter what. No holes in the ceiling or walls, no buying an 8” hole saw bit, and so on. Just have a shutter installed. I’d install it myself, but don’t have a 20’ ladder. Then I’ll get some treated plywood, drill holes for the three ducts, and then seal it all up really well.

Way better solution if you’re going to put shutters on anyways and they will give you adequate coverage!

Yup! That’s the way to go! Shutters it is! :fist:t3::facepunch:t3::vulcan_salute:t3: I dig it!
